ParticipantI think the symbolism of the rose is represented by the dagger.
I think we can all agree that we would all fangirl if Rumpel was stabbed, but saved by Belle as she kisses him.

ParticipantHaha back to the subject at hand, do you think Bae is a bastard child if he is Rumpel’s son? 😀

ParticipantSomeone who would have had to know what was going to happen in the future, so I am going to guess it’s either the Blue Fairy or Rumpelstiltskin.
Also, is Rumpel’s story in the book? If it isn’t I would guess it was him who made it…

ParticipantI’m not judging his feelings for Bae, just curious in if it were true if Bae’s parents would be revealed, or if he is, but is a bastard child, how that effects the Rumpel storyline. 🙂

ParticipantI think when Gold told Regina that breaking the curse would happen if anyone killed Emma is possibly foreshadowing,
I just think that he still needs her for that “favor” and that’s probably why she hasen’t been killed yet. I mean, she is part of the curse, and maybe one of the repercussions of magic being unpredictable in our world is that Emma has to die for them to fully return to Storybrooke.
Who knows… lol

Wow! I love that theory, it would include happy endings and self sacrifice! 🙂
I think the only problem I would have with your theory is the fact that Belle and Rumpel might have not gotten together since he is apparently a couple hundred years older than her. haha

ParticipantBut that’s the beauty of sacrifice, it’s doing things with knowing that you won’t reap the benefits.
Since I mentioned Harry Potter I’ll allude to it again and mention that what makes Snape’s story so heart wrenching, memorable, and personally, one of my favorite sacrifices is because even in death he still didn’t get Lily. It was his love for her alone that was a good enough of a reason to sacrifice himself.
It’s not the message of “You did all this hard work and now you can’t enjoy it” that draws people to this stuff, it’s the power of hope, love and the willingness to give ones own life or goals for the greater good, and not for themselves, but for loved ones or complete strangers. It’s the strongest message of love that one can give, and personally, more meaningful to me then everyone getting what they want and living happily ever after. It’s the message that despite all of the hardships, heartache and hatred in our world, the most important thing in this world is to never give up and to always fight for good. To protect it, at all costs.
I’m not saying that I want the series to end on a grim or depressing note, but more of that I do hope that some characters end up redeeming themselves, or dying in order to protect the greater good, which this show heavily revolves around.

ParticipantHaha, not to say that my theory is great or anything, but I do hope that some characters die off during the show…
One of the main themes in the show is sacrifice, and while it’s nice to want everything to work out happily ever after in our own lives, I think it happening in a book or show makes the story lose its luster.
I think one of my major complaints about LOST and Harry Potter is that they ended too fluffy. Everyone was with each other in the end, and in Harry Potter all of the trio survived. The epilouge was just TOO much haha.
You need to kill off characters in a show like this, because they are in War, and how better to connect to the audience then having it become somewhat “real” with one of their characters sacrificing themselves, or losing their life? If everything were to end in happy endings all the time then we wouldn’t be on the edge of our seat wondering “what if?!”
While I agree that they killed Graham too early in the show (not enough time for the audience to really be effected by his death) I believe that it was a good reminder to people that “hey, we’re in war, anyone could live or die.” and I think that’s what makes this show so great. It’s the risk of it all.
Some of my favorite moments in LOST were death scenes, because I was so emotionally invested in a character that when they died, it was just heart wrenching. Charlie’s death scene is one of the most iconic things of LOST, and while no, I hope that a lot of the characters don’t die, I hope there is just as great of an impact with a character’s death as there was with Charlie.
I also think it’s a good way for characters such as Regina, Emma or Rumpelstilskin to redeem themselves — to give their own power, pride, cowardicy, or faith in dying what they have so long neglected or fought.

ParticipantThanks Obisgal.
So perhaps Bae was the one that manipulated the adoption center to giving Henry to Rumpel who then gave him to Regina.
That or someone else who was from FTL that wasn’t affected by the curse, and who knew of the prophecy.

ParticipantPerhaps if Bae is the father of Henry he may have been on the sidelines making sure that Henry ended up in Storybrooke.
For all we know, Bae knows that Storybrooke exists.
