ParticipantI imagine they’ll have Hook even cursed have flashes of Emma similar to Emma in the season 6 finale. Like he could be haunted by this woman and she seems so familiar but he doesn’t know how.
Right, and that’s not what I want. I don’t want Hook’s storyline to have anything to do with Emma. I want him to be with her, even having a child would be great to see. But I want him to be on some sort of quest that he takes to do something else….not a curse where he doesn’t know who Emma is or he’s trying to get back to her. Just a different mission that he needs to do or something he’s doing to help someone else out and Emma is home taking care of the kid. Obviously it would have been better with Emma in season 7 but this is what we have left now.

ParticipantThink of this way why don’t you. If you were separated from your wife, your family, would your whole purpose be to find any means of getting back to them? Maybe the reason why his motivation to get back to Emma is because that is all his family. She is his family. Regina and Rumple? Are people he can’t stand and only puts up with because of Emma(in Regina’s case).
Yes, I don’t blame Hook for wanting to get back to Emma and to do whatever it takes. Not at all. What I blame is the writers for continually writing that same schtick. Either Hook is gone or Emma is gone and the other half has to get back to them. It’s old. But yes, if they do that plot, I don’t blame the characters one bit for acting the way they do. I’m simply saying I’ve seen enough of it and would like a different plot line.

ParticipantI have no problem continuing CS in season 7. But he can have true love with Emma, and not have his entire motivation always be to get back to her. It’s stale and overused and unoriginal at this point. Good writers would find a way to keep CS alive and well and not have literally all of Hook’s motivations and storyline to revolve around her. Heck, even Snow and Charming had storylines and quests that had nothing to do with the other.

ParticipantParticipant I think there will be people that will take a look at Season 7 because it is supposed to be a new start and quite a few of the disliked things have been removed. I am just not sure that that is going to make that much of a difference. Especially with the move to Friday and the loss of the majority of the original cast. I am just really not convinced that the writing is going to be better is the problem. I mean as much as it seems like something new, the writers still don’t know how to write character development.
But they are capable! Season 1 had great developed characters. Just over time, they forgot how to CONTINUE to develop them. And I would argue that Regina absolutely was developed successfully throughout the show. It doesn’t mean season 7 will have developed characters, but they did technically do it before.

ParticipantThe way I see it…Emma and Neal absolutely loved each other. You are allowed to love more than one person and they declared their love on numerous occasions. And it was also their first love. Which is why in the caves, Emma tells Neal that she probably will always love him. That makes so much sense to me.
However, Emma and Hook also love each other. You don’t need some wonky curse-breaking kiss or some plot macguffin thing in the show to prove that they have true love. Both characters stated it was true love. Other characters on the show stated it was true love, and the way Emma and Hook feel about each other on such a strong emotional level shows it’s true love.
I honestly feel that if anyone on either ship says either SF or CS isn’t true love, they are massively bitter. And I would get why a SF fan might be bitter and say that CS was not true love (despite how wrong that is). But I do not understand why a CS fan would say that about SF. You won. She ended up with Killian. She married him and they each exchanged beautiful vows and the show has basically said multiple times that it’s true love. So what’s the issue? Why is it that Emma can only have found true love with one person? Does it make her relationship with Hook less symbolic and not as powerful if she shared something similar with Neal?
For me, Neal was first love. Very powerful, very real. She still loves him today. How could she not after all they shared? Hook and Emma’s relationship is unique and very different from Emma and Neal’s. But just bc both were different from each other, doesn’t mean they both weren’t true love. Their relationship is also very powerful and very real.
As far as the next season regarding Hook, they need to find some motivation for this character that has nothing to do with Emma, or getting back to Emma, or his revenge on Rumple. Something else. Hook is a really cool character and I’d love to find out who his mother is someday as he’s pretty much the only main member of the cast who still hasn’t had both parents revealed. I wanna see the Hook I fell in love with before it was ALL about Emma.
Oh, and yes, Hook was a lost boy. To deny that is pretty ridiculous. However, Neal was also a lost boy, in a different way. Both were “abandoned” by their fathers. And potentially both were abandoned by their mothers as well. Milah walked out on Neal (ironically no thanks to Killian) and since Killian’s mom hasn’t been in the picture, one could assume she abandoned him too. For me, it is way more interesting to see the parallels between Hook and Neal than to pin point their differences. I honestly would have liked to see Neal and Hook on screen more (and not just fighting over Emma).

ParticipantBut does’t that beg the question can you leave Rumbelle alone and have Rumple fulfill his main role which is to fill in as a villain when the arc villain isn’t enough? Even if Belle’s not there just the idea that Rumple is gonna black hat it up in S7 would put quite a damper on Rumbelle, no?
I wish they would either fully redeem him and make him a force of good or make him the main big bad to close out the show. I’m getting sick of him partnering up with the latest villain who strolls into town. Rumple is incredibly powerful. Who better to have as the final villain?

ParticipantSo without looking at everyone’s comments above……I’m two episodes behind so fear not, I’m still watching the show!
So far, I’ve really enjoyed the return. Mainly bc I loved Batman Begins and that’s basically what this is, plus the riddler haha. The monk guy is creeeepy. Is he Ra’s? Love Nygma. Love the Oswald/Ivy teamup. Hopefully I’ll be all caught up tomorrow!

ParticipantSo as far as Gideon becoming a baby again, to me I think it only makes sense bc it was Black Fairy’s doing that made him age the way he did. Unfortunately we know next to nothing about the dark realm and it’s fast forwarding capabilities but bc we know nothing, I have to guess that black fairy could have sped up the realm in order to get serviceable kids working in her mines to extract the black dust she used for the curse. So if that’s the case, then Gideon aging was entirely black fairy’s doing therefore if the black fairy dies, it makes sense that whatever happened to Gideon would be undone. At least that’s how I’m rationalizing it.
As far as Henry kissing Emma and saving her….this is tough but I can almost buy it. Although while Emma did kiss Henry and did save his life, she also broke a curse. Henry didn’t break any curse here. But I’m willing to maybe let this one slide.
The Snowing kiss MAKES ZERO SENSE. And it made me quite angry. The whole beanstalk stuff made me angry. Hook should not have just survived from that fall. And Charming can’t be brought back from the dead by TLK. The only way I can rationalize this is if, like Hook, Charming survived the fall and was just passed out, and then the kiss didn’t actually save him from anything and it only served to reverse mirror the pilot. He just happened to wake up when she kissed him.

ParticipantWhen they put Tiger Lily in that scene and not Blue Fairy, I thought that was incredibly strange. I thought either Keegan Connor Tracy was done with the show and Tiger Lily would be stepping into a larger role, or something bad happened to blue, or Blue is actually a bad guy. And then I immediately realized that Sara Tomko would at the very least be a recurring character next season.
