ParticipantThe only way “The darkness made him do it” excuse works is if the show applies across the board. But they don’t. For Rumple, he is simply a bad man. It’s never “yes, he tortured Robin Hood, but the darkness made him do it because that’s how insidious it is.” It’s “Rumple is power obsessed and can’t give up his grip on the darkness.” But for Hook it’s “he didn’t mean to almost kill all of Emma’s family and send them to hell. The darkness made him do it.” It’s very much a double standard but with Hook, like you said, it gets washed away in order to sell the narrative that he’s a good guy.
Don’t forget that Hook didn’t want the darkness because he knew how it would affect him. Rumple keeps going back to it willingly. And I think it’s safe to say that Rumple changed a lot once he became the dark one. The darkness obviously affected him. He went from being a coward, but otherwise a good father, to not only a coward, but a ruthless human being. And obviously the darkness changed Nimue too. I think it’s decently documented how the darkness changes people. So I didn’t have as big of a problem with Hook’s fast dark turn at the end of season 5a as others did. It was rushed, yes, but I was OK with it. There were far bigger issues I had at the end there than that. That’s all I’ll say haha.

ParticipantAnd I will say, if it ends up being the end of the show, and it’s a show finale, I’m going with “Happy Endings.”
thedarkonedearie
ParticipantSince WL already stole “Happily Ever After”, I’m going with “The End”. Assuming its the last season
Also I doubt they will do the same thing as Lost. But who knows anymore. Funny enough, both “Happily Ever After,” and “The End” were episode titles in the sixth and final season of Lost.

ParticipantDo we think that Regina could actually kill Zelena if she had to? The writers still seem like they are leaving the redemption door open for Zelena. I feel this episode has just as good a chance of Regina and Zelena mending their relationship and starting over, as it does them fighting to the death.

ParticipantJust curious, do most people feel this season is the last? Some of these finale guesses would suggest so. But I thought the ratings indicated it would still likely get another season, despite the downward trend.

ParticipantUntil I can think of a better one, because it is early, I’m going with “Dark vs. Light” for the season 5 finale.
Despite what seemed like closure for the dark one story line with it now being back inside Rumple, I’m not convinced this is over. I think this will be the overarching theme for the season and will carry over to the back half here. And I think it will be this episode, instead of “Swan Song,” that we finally get the darkness and subsequently, dark ones destroyed forever.

ParticipantWow. Ok. I’ll post this and then I’ll get off this thread for good.
This seems to be directed right at me. I can’t stress enough that I am not a CS shipper. I am not a shipper period. This thread has gone off topic for sure. But as you pointed out, I think it’s because the show is off the air at the moment. I am not trying to persuade anyone. I simply was talking about the Savior’s actions as it relates to her character and her current status with Hook (whom she said she loves multiple times now), which was brought up by someone else. Once again, not trying to start a ship war at all. I am not praising CS, I am not arguing against SF. I am not persuading people that their ship is wrong. I literally could care less about the ships. That’s why I felt comfortable posting in this thread, even if at times, it got a little off topic. But now, I absolutely DO NOT feel comfortable posting here and likely never will again. There are clearly some sour grapes still in this thread, so much so that even though I clearly do not support either ship, and have said this multiple times, and have never told people they were wrong or tried to put down SF, I am getting called out for persuading people that they are wrong and that CS is the best. If anything, I miss Neal. I think that Emma’s relationship with him was better for the show. And yet, I’m getting called out for attempting to start shipping fighting, even though I’ve never said one is better than the other. Because again, I don’t care. I comment based on what I see on the show. I see that Emma claims she loves Hook now, so based on how the writers are writing the character, I was making a comment about what I feel would be heroic actions for The Savior. How that prompted a shipping lecture and a warning, I have no clue.
Also, I never called anyone’s intellect into question. I was just curious as to the reasons why people still watched the show if they were that upset with it. I think this was a pretty unnecessary attack here.
What I am guilty of is continuing topics in this thread that don’t directly pertain to SF. So from now on, if I have something to say, I will not post it here. It just seemed everyone was posting stuff here that was a little off topic so I didn’t think it was a big deal since the show was on hiatus. But consider me off this thread for good as I no longer feel welcome anymore.

ParticipantShe became obssessive with a man to the point she’s willing to endanger her family and leave Storybrooke unprotected (she’s the savior of this town, doesn’t that mean anything anymore?), all of this she does for a guy, that’s being selfish towards every other character in this show. A strong character wouldn’t have gone to the underworld, she would have delt with the loss and let her family be there for her.
Ok, but the town isn’t in danger right now. And can you blame her for wanting to try and save someone she loves? Someone who’s death she blames herself for? As far as I know, she didn’t ask her family to come with her. They all just sort of went. I think a strong character WOULD go to the UW if she knew there was even a slight chance of saving the love of their life. Just accepting it and not trying to do anything about it, when you know there is a chance, is losing hope, which this show loves so much, and basically giving up. If she’s the savior, GO SAVE YOUR LOVE. The town is fine. I think it’s important to note that Emma being The Savior always meant she was going to save “them” (her family, friends, etc.). They all happened to be residing in storybrooke. But she is not the Savior of the town. She is the savior of the people she loves. She is going to bring the happy endings. She saved them by killing Hook. Now the town is fine. So go get your happy ending with Hook.

ParticipantI bet this is the ONLY scene in season 4 where these two interact, because from what I heard, Emma and Hook barely have any scenes apart, but in this scene, it reminded me of all these interactions they had in season 1,2 and 3 and again, they were beautiful together. both the same type. desperate souls.
I absolutely love when Emma and Rumple have scenes together. I think those two parallel each other so well, especially now after Emma turned away the darkness and Rumple gave back in. If that isn’t dark vs light, good vs evil, I don’t know what is. Once again, I think the show’s “final battle” should be between these two. Their scenes together are so juicy usually and I want more of them, and not Merida and hero Rumple. Lame.
Emma became a pod person basically after 3×15 and has only descended further with each passing episode.
I have no real qualms with Emma’s character and development. Now if you wanna talk about Rumple’s flip flopiness, Snowing’s assassination, Blue Fairy’s lack of involvement, etc., well then I can’t argue with you there. But Emma and Regina’s characters are like the only sure fire ones that I don’t have an issue with as far as where they started, where they are now, and where they are going. Writing for the others is questionable at best.

ParticipantIt looks so awful, but maybe it is just the screen cap of it making it look worse . Maybe he will only be like this some of the time.
Yes, like I know it doesn’t look so great. But the goofy expression doesn’t help. Once he starts talking, and acting like Hades, and maybe if the blue hair erupts when he’s angry etc. it will be fine. I feel like we can’t fully say whether it will work or not until we see him act and interact with the characters.
Hades is not the Devil. He’s not just the Greek version of Satan.
Does this mean they are going to do their own thing and we won’t see any Greek mythology? I kind of assumed this would possibly lead to Olympus with the Gods, but if they are referring to Hades as the Devil and not the God of the Underworld, then I am more inclined to think that they will leave most of the Greek mythology out of it, and just use the way Hades was portrayed in the Disney film (fun but also dangerous as A&E put it, and with blue hair) and just swap out God of the Underworld for Devil.
