And also….if this is Rumple/Belle centric, perhaps the whole making Rumple a hero thing won’t be for nothing. Like I have said before, perhaps some of these themes they did not answer at the break, and we scrutinized them over, will in fact still be dealt with in the back half
[adrotate group="5"]thedarkonedearieParticipantThis is the title of the book Belle was reading in “Skin Deep” when she met Rumple for the first time.
Wow, if this is true, maybe the writers are in fact going back to season 1 to bring back old themes and memories. This has to be Belle/Rumple centric. Unless it’s Emma centric, and referring to Captain Hook or even Neal (jk jk hehe).
January 19, 2016 at 4:45 pm in reply to: TVLine 1/19 – Matt's Inside Line – Will Neal Be Mentioned #315225thedarkonedearieParticipantAlso, this answer upsets me, once again they make it look like Neal only connection in the show is about one ship and all about Emma, when he is related by blood with Henry and Rumple.
God you are so right. I mean, I was no Swanfire shipper, but it’s super annoying that the writers just ignore the fact that Neal was a major player in more than just Emma’s life.
thedarkonedearieParticipantI wouldn’t be surprised if we were to see Zelena going green (again) in Oz in 5×16. Also given her speculated connection with a certain Lord of the Dead, “Our Decay” feels to me like an extremely appropriate title for an episode revealing HellWitch backstory
Definitely a possibility.
thedarkonedearieParticipantWell, maybe they do realize that next season will be the final season and then they shouldn’t be bothered with ratings, hence no fanservice. That way, they could afford getting rid of Hook (and Robin and Zelena), bring back Neal, and tell the story they needed to tell from the beginning. May I remind you that Neal and Emma are confirmed to be TL while Hook and Emma are still not confirmed to be TL (if anything they are not TL since if they had been, Zelena’s lips curse would’ve been broken immedietly).
All of this sounds amazing. And definitely could be done. Problem is, as Rumple’s Girl put it, MRJ has another show and NBC is already talking about a second season before the first one has even debuted. So it’s looking like a brief one or two episode appearance for MRJ. I just hope they do it right.
thedarkonedearieParticipantIf this is all just for MRJ to appear one or two episodes, then this conversation is useless because none of us believe that’s the best idea. It would be great to see him, but no one trusts the writers to do it right. I was simply saying if for some crazy reason, MRJ was able to come back in a more full time role, I think if done right, Neal could help bring the show back to what made it great.
But at the very least, if done right, it would be really nice for Henry to officially say goodbye to his dad. And to get a little screen time with him. And as far as me thinking Hook and Neal can’t coexist, I simply meant I don’t want to see more fighting over Emma in a stupid love triangle. If MRJ somehow was able to come back, I would want it to be all about him again, with Hook gone, him being in his son’s life, and leaving the back door open for Swanfire. Again, this isn’t going to happen, but that’s all I meant.
thedarkonedearieParticipantAnd secondly, what would Neal be coming back permanently to?
I know a lot of people seem to think the show has gone too far to bring him back. But first and foremost, Neal can be the dad Henry never got. That relationship would be so sweet and needed to maybe develop Henry’s character a little bit as well. Secondly, if Hook ends up being out of the picture by the end of this arc, Neal not only becomes more important in Henry’s life, but also Emma’s. And I don’t think it would be out of the realm of possibility for old feelings to start to crop up if Neal ends up sticking around and being a father to Henry. And then there’s the whole Rumple dynamic. What would it mean to have his son back? I know we have seen this song and dance before, but could this finally be the thing that let’s Rumple let go of his power? I can imagine if you lose your son, and then he somehow is returned to you, that would make you rethink things finally and possibly let go of the darkness for good this time. So Neal being back on a more permanent basis would give more substance for Henry, more complications with Emma, and a possible end for Rumple redemption. I disagree with most on this I guess. I think if done well, they could absolutely integrate Neal back into the show and it could be quite beautiful. But I don’t think Neal and Hook could coexist.
thedarkonedearieParticipantIn a way, even though she killed them, she’d be setting them free to move on to whatever happy, Heaven Like Place that the good souls go once their business is finished. It’d be coming full circle in a way, the person who caused their deaths have come to set them free into a place of peace.
Yup and that’s why it makes sense. If it was just Regina being like, “Sorry I killed you, but I’m different now. I’m good,” I’d be like, ummmmmm I don’t care what you are now. You killed me. But if her giving them some sort of closure helps them to move on from the UW, then I can see this working not only for Regina’s arc to fully complete her journey from dark to light by literally saving those she tormented and killed, but also for the plot since they are now in the UW. I really like this, and I hope the writers don’t blow it. This should close her redemption arc and she should be full hero after this season if they do it right.
thedarkonedearieParticipantHow would you MRJ fans feel about a warning from Neal in the beginning, then we don’t see him, but he comes back by the end of the season? Like similarly to what they did with Emma seeing Merlin when she was a child in the movie theatre. And then later on, we finally meet Merlin. Obviously Merlin died, so not a perfect example, but they have done this with Emma giving birth to Henry too. They like to have a scene that separates itself from the rest of the narrative only to attempt to bring it back full circle by the end of the arc. How would you feel about that device being used with Neal here? Obviously no one wants to see Neal give a warning and then drop off the face of the Earth, but with all these little leaks, and pictures, and secrecy, it seems like there’s potential that the writers actually have a secret agenda here. Once again, I’m sure I’m giving the writers too much credit again, but maybe not.
And as far as bringing Merlin back, I am happy about this. We crapped on them for killing him off. We crapped on a lot of stuff they did. I certainly hated that we got zero closure on the camelot crew. But, now it seems we will be seeing them again at some point. It’s almost like this season, they didn’t close many of the arcs by the midway point, so we assumed that was it and that it was horribly done. But what if these arcs just spanned across the entire season? What if we get closure on the camelot people? See Merlin again and see him actually have a purpose in the UW? What if we actually get Mulan and Ruby together as a couple? Would any of this actually save the first half of this season a little bit? For me, it certainly would. There are still so many issues, but it would help.
thedarkonedearieParticipantI know this is supposed to be a Zelena/Dorothy centric episode, but anyone think/hope it could have something to do with Snow and Charming sharing a heart? The writers always said they will address the repercussions of that at some point, and since that is exactly what Emma wants to do with Hook, perhaps this story line comes back full swing. Maybe Snow and Charming can only last so long with one heart. Although, I do like the idea of them needing to get out in a certain time frame otherwise they will decay, die, and be trapped in the UW.
