January 12, 2016 at 4:17 pm in reply to: Hiatus interview with Regina & Zelina by Brittney & Amanda #314984thedarkonedearieParticipant
We’re going to get a lot of the Evil Queen in the second half, she’s making a comeback! – Lana Parrilla
Ok, I love the evil queen as much as the next person, but I really hope these are just flashbacks and Regina doesn’t start going down the path of evil again. I literally will stop watching the show if they do to her what they did with Rumple, despite all the juicy acting and costumes that come with seeing both of them doing their dark dastardly deeds.
I want Evil Queen, but not at the expense of all the redemption writing that has gone on for the last few seasons. Same reason why people were pissed about Rumple being the dark one again. I think we all agree seeing Robert Carlyle as the dark one is must-watch tv, but it ruined the writing this past half season because they made him a “hero.”
[adrotate group="5"]thedarkonedearieParticipantWhat if they did decide to bring Neal back, but couldn’t get MRJ and recast an adult Neal ? How would folks feel about this?
Oh God please no. I’ll say the same thing regarding Jefferson and Graham and many others. As much as I loved some of those characters, I couldn’t stand bringing them back with a different actor. Robin Hood only worked because he barely was part of the story before. Graham, Jefferson, etc were a big part of the show early on. Better to leave them out of it unless the actors are able to return. Same goes with Neal.
But this is also why I’m intrigued about Mulan. I think the actress did a great job in season 2 with what was given to her, and we have yet to really see her backstory. Plus with all this LGBT relationship promises, I’m definitely interested to see what the writers have in store for her. But it would be such a disappointment if it was a different actress.
But side note: There really is no way Neal is back for an extended time for many of the reasons you listed above. So at this point, I agree, let’s hope it’s just a reused score, and not that MRJ actually will make an appearance, because a small cameo would be a slap in the face.
thedarkonedearieParticipantI think we’re (you and I specifically) having two slightly different conversations, Watcher, with this matter. Does it make sense that Neal would be in the Underworld and would want to help his true love and his son and keep them safe? Absolutely yes. But it’s being done in a way that is (I keep using this word) cruel and hurtful because of the way it could potentially play out: warning the SB gang and then fading back into non-existence with no one stopping to think about saving him too; no one pondering if Neal’s life is worth saving, if maybe Henry would like to have his father, to acknowledge that Neal’s death wasn’t fair (the words Emma used in regards to Hook), that maybe he (Neal) was a real hero and a good man besides and didn’t deserve to die and maybe there’s some magical mcguffin out there to help! None of that will happen.
I absolutely agree here. It’s a no-brainer really. And once again, I’m not a Swanfire shipper or anything, but if they simply bring him back to warn them, and then don’t address him at all the rest of the way, that is a huge slap in the face of MRJ fans, Neal fans, and really, the whole Neal story line. They can’t just introduce him again, and then go save Hook as if Neal doesn’t matter, or give some bull crap reason why he can’t be saved, but Hook can. Henry would have some say on whether he wants to save the father he never really knew. Rumple would certainly have some say, and with all his dark one power, I can’t imagine he would even agree to not saving Neal. He would go out of his way to save him, even if it meant using all the dark magic he could. He would never agree to save Hook for Emma, when his son is just chilling right there in the same place.
But again, if MRJ is back, and not for just one scene in the beginning warning everyone, this could work. Especially if they planned this and killed Neal off knowing they would eventually be going to the underworld and could eventually save him, or at least have the opportunity to be saved. But I know I’m giving the writers way too much credit here. But I can hope….
thedarkonedearieParticipantHow disappointing that would be…
thedarkonedearieParticipantI have no idea why anyone would think this is nice. Yeah, it’s bait, but of the worst cruel kind. So Neal’s true love and Neal’s father and Neal’s son just so happen to run into him in the Underworld and then what–leave him there? Are just like “hey thanks for the warning, we gotta go save a pirate who we deem more important than you?” Why does that make any sense? Why is that nice? Are you simply satisfied with a brief glimpse of a character so viciously taken from us? Because if that’s all you need, then go watch Manhattan or Second Star to the Right or Ariel. Malarkey. This isn’t nice. It’s cruel. It’s not about having any kinds of hope dashed because I’ve never had any but I wanted MRJ to stay away from this travesty of a show that treated him and his character so appallingly; that wasted every single chance it had with the poetic story of Neal and Emma, Neal and Rumple, and Neal and Henry. That threw away all its heart for a pirate in eyeliner. This is just a way for A and E to say “see! We remember Neal!” and pat themselves on the back for ingenuity, never mind how hurtful, malicious, and morally repugnant it is to the fans and to the narrative. In other news: we’re getting lax about spoiler in this thread lately. Tag them, guys. Images, discussion, whatever.
It is cruel for you die hard Swanfire shippers. However, if this is a way to bring Neal back permanently, and get rid of Hook for good, this would be amazing I think. Imagine, Emma has to choose between Hook and Neal. Hook tells her to save Neal, she chooses Neal, and then you get all the stuff you mentioned above that they screwed up and never gave us. Again, not sure if this is even possible with MRJ and his schedule (likely not), but let’s not scorn them for something they haven’t done yet. Maybe it will turn out to be good and maybe we’ll even get some more closure from Rumple and Henry interacting with him. Or maybe it will just be a CGI voice over. It could suck. But maybe not…
thedarkonedearieParticipantI think we are all missing the point here. It seems we are getting Neal back in some capacity. I’m a CS shipper, and even I am very excited about this. Whether it is a voice over, CGI, or something they are still trying to film when MRJ is able, it would be a cool surprise and let’s be honest, they were laying the Neal stuff on pretty thick in season 5A with many mentions of him, especially in Dreamcatcher. I expect this is absolutely true and we will get to see him in some way, which is very exciting indeed.
How cool would it be if Emma is only able to save one of them (Hook or Neal) in the UW and she has to choose. And Hook once again tells her he wants to stay dead. And that Neal is the one she should save. This would parallel the little tantrum those two guys went through in the Pan arc about winning Emma over, and Hook can take the high road here, and once again, tell Emma to let him die. But this time she listens to him, and saves Neal. It would end Hook’s arc nicely by being the better man and representing “good form” once again, and sacrificing himself yet again to give Emma her true happiness and letting him die in peace (and letting him move on from the UW bc apparently you have unfinished business if you are there.)
Or has too much happened for them to do this? (I’m thinking in Pan arc when they confess their secrets in the cave and Emma tells Neal she doesn’t love him anymore.) Could they realistically make the switch and show Emma really does still love Neal? Would MRJ even be available to make a return like this to the show? It’s certainly intriguing.
January 8, 2016 at 5:45 pm in reply to: Variety 1/8 OUAT Casts Gaston in ‘Beauty & the Beast’ Storyline #314812thedarkonedearieParticipantI personally love this. I was so disappointed in season 1 when Rumple just turned him into a rose and that was it. Gaston is hilarious and significant in Belle’s story. So now, maybe her flashbacks will have some more substance that we are familiar with.
thedarkonedearieParticipantRed car = Hades’s car in SB.
That. What she just said.
thedarkonedearieParticipant“Arrow” a show about the superhero called The Green Arrow *should* have an arrow as its logo. Like the Flash having a bolt of lightening. The apple for OUAT (an icon associated with one character and having no bearing on this seasons arc) does not. It’s a lack of creativity. How about the burnt bug? A burnt pirate ship? Hades’s throne? Heck, even just the flames of the Underworld would drive home the point. Or superimpose the rest of the SB gang below (because shockingly this is an ensemble show!) The apple (all shiny and pretty, which is…um..not what happens when you put an apple in the fire) doesn’t make any sense. It’s lazy.
I have never agreed with you more. This is sooooooo lazy. How about a tease for what’s coming? I doubt we will see even one apple in the fiery underworld, and even if we do, it’s not going to be important. Hades on his thrown would be great. Or if they want to do Hook, then fine. But then there better be a whole lot of Hook in the back half here. An entire cast pic would be great too. They did this with Lost all the time. But the picture changed based on where the story was. (Example: Locke’s back turned in the season 6 promo poster). So what about a picture of just the characters going to the Underworld with maybe Hook at the center or whatever. I’m hoping once we see Hades, we will get a better poster, similar to the poster I saw for the Camelot story.
thedarkonedearieParticipantI’d really like to see Hades, already. Kinda hoping we get a BTS of him soon.
Seriously though. They are keeping this one under wraps.
