After thinking about this overnight, I have started to wonder if Jane only wrote the present day SB stuff–drunk Snow, Regina/Emma, and the ending with Gideon/Emma. While the last bit with Gideon and Emma was totally horrible and eyeroll worthy with the “Tears of the Savior” the other stuff was the only highlight, IMO, of an incredibly weak episode–so weak that many have noted that it’s Jane’s worst. So maybe she didn’t really have a hand in it?
I sincerely hope this is true. The storybrooke scenes were way better. I think we all agree that the bar scenes were the best.
[adrotate group="5"]I think it could at least turn out that the Black Fairy was the originator of the Dark Curse. However, we previously theorized the same thing about Hades, so who really knows.
That is like the biggest thing they still haven’t told us yet right? Do you think Rumple found out about it through his mother? Someone refresh my memory…..Regina found out about the dark curse through Rumple but they haven’t said who created the dark curse right? And then Maleficent obtained the dark curse somehow and Regina took it. But does Rumple actually know who made the curse? He probably does since it is his mother. Could black fairy have tried to use the curse for something else but was banished before she could do so?
Have you watched Wonderland? A lot more Jafar there. Gives him a backstory and everything
A few people on here said I should watch it. I watched the first two episodes and wasn’t really impressed. They said it gets progressively better but now there’s like no way to watch it for free anywhere.
So in all seriousness, I’m going to try and offer up a theory to this mess.
So if Hook ends up in Neverland, that’s where I expect we will meet Tiger Lilly. And since Pan is no longer there, someone had to have taken over as the leader of Neverland. My guess is it’s her. And he’s going to make a deal with her, do something in return, or he owes her something and that’s how he’s going to get out of Neverland and return back to Storybrooke.
No Savior mythology that they promised would come in the second half. No savior motivation from Jafar. They reduced it to him just wanting to get rid of Agrabah bc they hated him. He somehow rid his genie trap. The black fairy took over the back half of this season when they realized the show was done and they wanted to incorporate her. So Jafar got the boot. So annoying. He had so much promise. He was menacing with his staff and his voice and his confidence. And they were tying it into the Savior…it should have been cool. But nope. They offed him in two episodes and defeated him with magical red dust. And how many times are people without magical abilities going to realize they don’t have a prayer against someone who does unless you have a magical item? What on earth were Hook and Ariel going to do to Jafar? Ridiculous. Him working with the black fairy was written on the wall. The writers really messed this up and they really need to bring home this black fairy storyline to make up for this. I am not pleased.
As far as true love’s kiss restoring Agrabah and breaking Aladdin’s genie curse, I’m fine with it. No issues with that.
He needed her tears to keep Hook away from her as leverage to get her to do what he wants. To me, it makes sense. However, I don’t like that we got another maguffin in Savior tears and I don’t like that Gideon has now somehow switched opinions on this and now wants Emma to help him kill Black Fairy. When did he realize this? We needed to see this. Did Rumple help him realize this? What about all that magic stealing from the sword via Blue Fairy? All the stuff with Rumple not wanting Gideon to do anything bad and dark so he would do it for him? So now, Gideon is being good trying to take out a bad person?
Another stinker. Been a couple in a row now. They gotta turn this around.
Overall: 5/10

– Jasmine’s costumes
– Girl’s night out with drunk Snow, and Regina basically telling Charming to go back to sleep. Lols.
– Ariel. Always welcome.
– Hero Jasmine. Feisty spunky Jasmine.
– True love’s kiss brings back Agrabah and frees Aladdin from being a genie. I thought this actually worked.
– I liked that we saw the Jafar wants to marry Jasmine storyline from the movie. There were some cool movie references like Prince Aqmed, the magic carpet, etc.
Mixed:
– Gideon now wants to use Emma to defeat the Black Fairy? So did he come to an epiphany that he can’t kill her on her own? So much for Gideon being a bad guy. The more we see, the more I think that sword scene was just the small fight we already saw between her and Gideon. I was hoping they were trying to fool us and that there would be another fight against someone else.
Disliked:
– So many maguffins. So let’s see…..we have the ring holding Agrabah, the shell from Ariel, Kraken’s blood, Savior tears, random red potion turning people into wooden sticks. Sweet Jesus.
– Jafar storyline. Man it was trash. And it’s a shame. I actually thought the actor was good. Guy shows up in the first scene of the season, they talk about how we are going to get Savior mythology, and then we get this instead. They obviously switched the story around when they realized their show was going in the dumpster. They decided they needed the black fairy before the show ended so Jafar got the boot.
– Hangman Island? What?
– Ariel gives Hook a shell so he can talk to her? SHE CAN CREATE PORTALS! SHE CAN GET YOU TO HER! Uhhhhh.
– Emma tells Charming about how Hook killed his father……so off hand and casual. Like talk about an underwhelming scene for Charming to find out.
Here’s to hoping we get some good episodes coming up with Black Fairy being more heavily introduced. The show needs a big bad to finish off the season like right now.
