Hope is supposed to be for “humanity” as a whole, the unimportant characters that are in the background mostly as well as for our beloved, dare I say fan favorite, heroes. What hope was there for Neal or Robin? What hope was there for Will and Ana? What hope was there for Guinevere? What hope was there for Auntie Em? If the only hope that is important is for Emma to only be with her boyfriend by the end, then the show is not about hope, and I would even argue that Emma sacrificing her life for the lives of all the people of Storybrooke, for their happy ending, then it is a much hopeful message than anything they have been doing on the show since season 3.

But that’s so unfair.  Again, people die.  Will and Ana were not on OUAT.  So I can’t speak of their relationship.  Guinevere, well, the actress’s availability hit a snag so they couldn’t finish off her character.  That’s not contradicting their message.  That’s just bad luck and actor availability.  We don’t know what they would have done with her had they had the actress to do something to end her arc.  Auntie Em, we didn’t even know!  We knew her for like one episode, but people die!  Hades was a villain.  He obliterates people.  Otherwise he wouldn’t be a villain.  You can’t take everyone who dies and say that the show has no hope because people die.  The only thing I would give you here is the river of lost souls because they failed to really address whether people like Milah and Gaston would be completely obliterated in the river or if they had some sort of way to get out and move on, especially once Hades died.  As far as Robin Hood goes, the writers have come out and said that Hades could have been lying about him being obliterated.  And they even had Emma I believe say so to Regina to comfort her as well to officially put it as canon.  And again, villains are going to kill people.  That doesn’t mean they are not still pushing the message of hope.  All the characters have been preaching this message to Regina since Robin died because bad things do happen, but you still need to have hope to get though that stuff.  Now Neal, he died too, yes.  But he also died somewhat of a hero.  And he wasn’t in the UW because he moved on to a better place.  So again, villains (Zelena) are going to kill people.  But the message of hope remains in order to recover and move on and live your life with the people that are still here, that still care about you.  That message has remained the same.  To cherry pick characters who have died and say that they have contradicted themselves and the message of hope seems asinine to me and completely unfair.

If history repeats itself, February 6th could be when promotion starts.

They have been contradicting “the message of hope” since season 3 though.

When have they contradicted this message?  People die.  It happens.  But the message of hope I thought was practically the only thing that has remained consistent throughout the show.

I will say what’s interesting at least is that since contracts are up and the show’s future is uncertain, it makes many characters vulnerable.  We would always say well there’s no way this person could die…..but now, anyone could really bite the dust which makes things a little more intriguing.

She could hate this show with every fiber of her being and she’d still do her due diligence.

Also true.  No way of really knowing for sure.  We certainly could get that insight after this season.

I’m not asking for 22 episodes of Snow and Emma braiding each other’s hair and watch the Gilmore Girls. But if we were to scale back on ALL OF THE PLOT then we might find that characters are able to have more meaningful conversations–that last longer and have greater impact than for more than a hot second.

I think all of these are fair points.  Their incessant need for PLOT has killed the simple character moments.  Everyday stuff.  We joke that no one on the show eats or goes to the bathroom haha.  I can’t think of specific examples off the top of my head, but I feel like this season, many have said it’s a little slow developing and I do think part of it is because they have gone back to a more “everyday life” vibe.  Yes, the EQ is running around, but not everyone else is.  Zelena is one character that comes to mind.  She’s at home taking care of her baby.  Belle and her had a decent conversation I believe because they had the whole baby thing in common.

One of the best episodes of Gotham this season and in the entire series.

Couldn’t agree more.  I appreciate that we are almost always on the same page with Gotham.

    Oh my….Smile Like You Mean it….. 10/10

This was absolutely one of my favorite episodes.  Wow.  Jerome was seriously missed.

    Liked:

    – Jerome.  Period.

    – How they gave him his scars.

    – Jerome killing Dwight

    – The two ladies just playing everyone.

    – Selina’s mom being a horrible mother.

    – Bruce refusing to fight back against Selina, but showing he’s getting good at defending himself.  I actually really liked that scene a lot.

I hated nothing and loved everything.  Much better than the episode ghosts.  Really starting to get why this is called Mad City.  Now if they link Tetch up with Jerome, oh man, that would certainly bring the season together.  Please please please….

Except, my first sentence was that Jennifer has implied she wants off the show, but would be willing to do one more season. That is exactly what i said. That is what she said. She said she doesn’t want to do this forever. Jennifer said that. I also am not going to just pretend that she is completely happy with the direction of the show when everything about her behavior and the way she has talked about the show implies otherwise. Jennifer has been more interested in her other projects for years. When she does outside interviews, that Nerd HQ or the recent interview, she talks about her other projects. Sure, when she is at an Ouat event she talks about Ouat because that is part of her job. The actors are given talking points. Jennifer is told she has to stand next to Colin. Jennifer’s contract is up. She now has a little bit of an upper hand. She can say that she is ready to move on because she is the main character and removing Emma from the story would change everything. It is of value to her to say that, not only because it is true, but because it gives her an upper hand in negotiating because she could take it or leave it. It is of value to her if she is renegotiating her contract for one more year to have fans and interviewers asking Adam and ABC if she is leaving. She wants to finish off the character, but she wants to move on. That is the decision she has to make and there are moving parts within that decision.

Uhhhh…..one tries to find common ground……

Can you tell me where she “implied she wants off the show?”  And can you tell me how you came to the conclusion that Jennifer is unhappy with the direction of the show simply because she said “she doesn’t want to do this forever?”  That is a big assumption.  Many actors say that they don’t see themselves playing this role forever.  But that doesn’t mean they don’t like the show anymore and definitely want out.  Those are still assumptions.  Perhaps you are right.  But perhaps you are not right.  You make it seem like you are so far up Jennifer’s rear that you know exactly how she’s feeling based on a few general indifferent remarks.  I tried to come to a common ground and drop it.  But since you were incapable of meeting at that point, please quote everything Jennifer has ever said that “heavily implies” that she wants off the show or that she doesn’t like the direction the show has taken.  And I’m not talking about ridiculous assumptions based on her saying she doesn’t want to do the show forever.  That proves nothing.  I’m talking concrete proof because THAT is the way you have been arguing your point; as if there is concrete proof with no other interpretation.  So let’s see it.  Let’s see the concrete proof because this is getting a little ridiculous, and quite frankly, annoying because once again, the negativity is off the charts.

Yeah seriously I think this is pretty obvious.  JMo, like many others, feels the show has run it’s course.  She probably wouldn’t mind leaving.  I think it’s clear she may not be as enthusiastic about the show as she once was.  That being said, she never said she explicitly was done with the show nor did she really hint at it.  She said she wants to see the character through.  A lot of what hjibau is saying is just assumption.  As Rumple’s Girl said, she can both be getting kind of sick with the show, but also want to see it through.  It’s why so many of you still watch the show today.  So let’s get the arrogance out of the way and just agree that JMo is the center of the show and the show would not be the same without her and that while she may be getting tired of the role, she has never indicated she didn’t want to see the character to the end.
