I don’t believe that A and E are deliberately writing a troubling relationship when it comes to CS; I also don’t believe they are deliberately being misogynistic, racist, classiest, and intolerant to LGBTQ community, but that doesn’t mean that their story doesn’t reflect those negative attributes.
And that’s just sort of what I mean. No matter how much someone thinks or believes the relationship is abusive or whatever, it doesn’t mean it makes sense for Emma to break up with Hook because the writers have never felt that way and as a result, Emma has been written in such a way to accept Hook and all his actions. Never has she felt the need to break it off with him. So for her to do it now, at the end of her character’s arc, especially after the way Hook has been written this season, just would not make sense.
I don’t understand how you can closely watch the show and not see that the last two half seasons have been waaaaaaaaaaay better than season 4 and the dark swan arc of season 5. Since then, I think the show has done a much better job overall. But that’s just my opinion.
My issue is if you hate all these things about the show, why do you watch it? Some people on here have literally nothing nice to say about the show, ever. It makes zero sense to me.
And as far as Emma and Hook go….just because you may think it has been written poorly and isn’t true love and has been unhealthy for Emma, doesn’t mean that’s what A&E think. The show has never wanted us to think that. They defend this relationship all the time. And for them to just all of a sudden, have Emma come to a realization that it is not working out (even though she has never really said that she has ever felt that way even when Hook was the DO), wouldn’t make a lick of sense.
And it’s true, they did switch up their story to incorporate Hook more. They got push back from abc as you guys say above. So then how is that A&E’s fault? Maybe they didn’t have a choice. You don’t really know. And I think it’s extremely ignorant and asinine to say they don’t care about their fans. Like, come on. Let’s be real here. There’s a difference between not understanding them or not being able to engage and communicate well with them vs. simply not caring. Lets not just spew hate for the sake of it. If you disagree where they have taken the show, then fine (I will argue the show has gone back to it’s roots especially in this season), but the writers are trying to tell a flat story that is years beyond its expiration date and that can’t be easy and to say they just don’t care really isn’t fair.

This is the swanfire appreciate thread, not the bash captainswan thread and make outrageous claims where because you hate CS, you think the only logical thing for Emma’s character to end with is for her breaking up with somebody they have held as her bf for almost 3 seasons. At the end of the day, Emma’s final bow should have something to do with being the Savior. It shouldn’t have anything to do with Hook. But they also shouldn’t just break them up. What would that say about all the time they put into keeping this relationship together for the last few seasons?
I’m still not sure why breaking up with Hook is the only thing that makes sense for Emma’s character. Maybe it makes sense for someone who doesn’t like Emma and Hook together, but after all the time they have invested in this relationship, it literally makes zero sense for her character to break up with him.
There we go. Jennifer wants off the show, but she can’t make a decision because she doesn’t even know if there will be a show next year.
Yeah like if this isn’t a blatant example of only seeing what you want to see I don’t know what is. She did say she doesn’t want to do it forever, as any actor usually says after 6 seasons of doing the same stuff, but she also said she would never abandon it. So I don’t know what you’re reading. I have to think you were being sarcastic and joking.
hjbau Participant I would be in favor of them dropping Stroybrooke or just having Stroybrooke be in the Enchanted Forest instead of the real world. They should have done that in Season 3 or at least done an open portal. I like Storybrooke, but the problems it causes by separating characters from each other just needs to end.
This I would be in favor of. Storybrooke has brought this show down. It has become quite a boring town. If they are going for a sort of reboot, they should change filming locations and keep Storybrooke out of it.
but I know that won’t happen, only in a very bold, actress wanting out storyline and even then a sf ending afterlife will be not accepted only if was really last season, bc if they did that, there are fans of a certain ship that would make Adam life a living hell.
Yeah this just won’t happen. They have devoted too much time to trying to redeem Hook and shove their relationship down everyone’s throats that the CS fans would be so pissed, justifiably so. It wouldn’t make a lick of sense at this point for her to die and be with Neal in their own little Tallahassee.
I really don’t want a spinoff. I want the entire show to wrap up. I don’t want some characters getting conclusions and taking a bow while others stay on for more stuff. How can they possibly think they can milk this anymore then a seventh season? I know ratings across the board are bad but I mean come on. What else is there? What else could the writers have cooked up for future seasons?
