ParticipantHoly crap what an episode. Black fairy??????????? Like for reals? Who is this girl? This makes me think that the black fairy won’t actually be a big villain. What is Belle going to do? She’s not going to kill Rumple is she? Maybe she puts him in the lamp? And so no one is inside the lamp right now….so no Jafar there, so Oracle girl theory still in tact. What a wowzer of an episode.

Participant–I hate–hate–everything about Ivy’s storyline. I’m so glad the writers felt the need age up a totally peripheral character only for her to become a sexual object instead of letting her age and develop organically. *sarcasm* –Nope, sorry. My Ivy rant isn’t over yet. Why is this even necessary? She was only in a small handful of episodes in the past two seasons; she made little to no emotional impact as a character except as “canon mandated.” This is…tedious and repugnant. It sours what is, overall, a really great season. –I thought I was done ranting about Ivy….apparently not. So they aged up her body but not her mind because everything she says and does demonstrates this. So she has the mentality and maturity of a 14 yr old but the body of a 20+. A body she’s using, freely, to seduce and rob men but without the cognitive ability to understand what she’s doing.
Yeah I love the villain Poison Ivy, but not here. I agree with everything you said. I actually was looking forward to seeing how Gotham would slowly turn her into the villain, like they did with Ed or Oswald. Show us how or why she got into plants. When she realized using her looks was her best weapon. But nope. We get a bullcrap age jump bc of some random guy’s aging powers and now have a 14 year old trapped in a slutty late twenties body. This messes up batman canon so much too I feel like. So is Ivy always going to be like 15 years more immature than her body suggests when Batman comes along? At this point, I’d be happy if they found a loophole to change her back to her kid self and treat all this just as a taste of what the character is capable of when she gets older.
I will say I initially thought ED would know it was Penguin who killed Isabella but then quickly realized they were going with the Butch route, which to me, makes Ed look stupid. Nygmobblepot unfortunately will never take off the ground because of this lie. I can see it now. Ed finally starts liking Oswald and then shortly after, he finds out Oswald was the one who killed Isabella, not Butch. And then that will be the end of the ship.
And yep, the Barnes thing was so obvious. Although I did expect him to die here. I’m not sure what use he is going forward. The only thing I’m hoping for is to have someone break Tetch out of jail and then have Tetch use Barnes as his lackey to get back at Jim. Keeping Barnes alive has to mean he’s going to be involved with Tetch and that the Mad Hatter is not done. Either that or Lucius finds a cure quickly and because Barnes was sick, he gets off or something. But I’m hoping for the former.
I liked the confusion between Selina and Bruce as to whether they were officially dating or not. That was pretty cute.
So who are these arrow shooting thugs looking for that key? And what does the key open? Any theories? Is this the Court of Owls? Anybody getting a deadshot vibe here?

ParticipantHuh?

ParticipantNew theory: Jafar is in the lamp. Iago is the one who has been posing as the Oracle girl on behalf of Jafar. There’s no way Sydney is inside the lamp.

ParticipantYes, this is Lily’s father. The real question is will they actually show us a reunion or was this just a little easter egg to appease fans?

ParticipantGood with flaws.
Overall: 7/10
Liked:
– Dragon is Lily’s daughter…..we might actually see that storyline pan out
– Kudos for bringing back something I forgot from season 3. Rumple can’t really harm Zelena. I like that they didn’t forget about that even though I did.
– A Henry episode. I thought Jared Gilmore actually did a very good job all around.
– The montage of Snow and Charming. Real life everyday moments are soooooo needed on this show. Like Snow and Charming going about their lives together, but apart. And also Henry and Violet’s relationship.
– The mirror world looked cool. It was cool we got to see it.
– Rumple and EQ are so good on screen together. Delicisously evil. I wonder if EQ will kill Zelena. My guess is Regina will save her and then she will know which sister she truly needs.
Mixed:
– Dragon CGI, ehhh.
– Putting a mirror back together is the solution to get out? Huh?
– I too was confused why Emma and Regina couldn’t communicate with Henry through the mirror bc Regina could do it with Sydney. But once the EQ adjusted the mirror so that Henry could see and hear what was going on, it makes sense that Regina did that with Sydney as well.
– So Belle wanted Zelena to use the sorcerer’s wand to transport her to another world away from Rumple? Away from her family and friends? I realize they just needed to get Aladdin in the shop to steal the lamp but still. So, Jafar is in the lamp right? Which would actually make me annoyed bc then all the stuff with the Oracle girl wasn’t shady cryptic writing but instead just bad writing. My new theory: Jafar is in the lamp but Iago has been posing as the Oracle girl on behalf of Jafar.
– So Belle and Rumple…..this whole thing is getting dangerous. Like, this is ACTUAL STRAIGHT UP ABUSE and for a family show, I’m shocked. And with the live action remake of Beauty and the Beast coming out soon, I’m blown away that ABC would let the writers tear this ship apart. But it’s not even a breakup. It’s truly horrifying. I like Rumple as a bad villain so I’m fine with all of this, but they better be cutting ties with this relationship permanently.
Disliked:
– Hook was pretty useless this episode.
– Emma is basically writing herself off. If she says “death sentence” one more time…sheesh.
– How did Snow know the EQ was watching them through the mirror?
– I think it’s so stupid that Granny’s is also a casual dining restaurant at night. Like they really don’t have another set they can use? It’s dumb.
– So does Snow not teach anymore? But there are school dances?

ParticipantGoing along with your predictable theme: unless the writers *really* pull of a big twist (which, as much as I’m enjoying Gotham this year, it doesn’t erase the…bad…of the first two years) the ending to Nygmobblepot is pretty predictable. Ed will learn that Oswald killed Isabella and it will drive a gulf between then so that they never work together again, though out of affection and fond memories they’ll never seek to kill each other. I’ll decide how I feel about this when we cross that bridge.
Totally going to happen.

ParticipantI actually wasn’t as thrilled with this episode. It was predictable in so many way and utterly ridiculous. Barnes freaking out and finally killing people..predictable. Ed choosing Isabella and Penguin killing her…predictable. It also makes me not want to root for Nygmobblepot. There’s some potential going forward still but I can’t help but think this is just an easy way to kill Barnes off the show. And it’s not like he’s turning into some cool batman villain. He’s the executioner. Whoopee….Although him effectively chucking the surgeon through a bathroom wall was pretty great to see.

ParticipantI think we are overthinking this. I loved this twist but breaking the curse is easy. If they get rid of the EQ, whatever she has done will be broken. They have used that logic before and it just seems too easy. Because other than that, I cannot think of a way they can get around this curse.

ParticipantThere has to be many saplings all over. There’s no way that’s the only one.
