Overall I liked this episode.  Does this mean the person who killed Cricket and Blotter, etc was possessed Amy?  Wouldn’t make sense bc she wasn’t possessed until the lightning hit her.  So I still think there is someone still pulling the strings.

Hooray for Deb finally shutting everything down.  I’m getting the sense that she truly is just someone who wanted to return to the camp she loved and wanted to make it fun for everyone again.  And yet, I will be very disappointed if they never explain why she had one of those masks in her apt.

Jessie’s backstory was nice, and made me feel bad for her.  But ultimately it served zero purpose in the present day plot.

And what’s her name does a much better possession Amy, than regular Amy.

    Bye bye Joel….

Holyoke being good I thought was a nice twist.  And the weird flashbacks with Jessie and Joel were done well and Cricket was done well with the creepy demon behind in the water.  I just wish the scene where Holyoke in the past by the water was done better.  Seemed rushed and the camera angle they elected to shoot it from was an odd choice.

So, Blair.  At last we come to you.  Where do you fit in with the end of this?  It feels like we should only have one episode left.  There’s gonna be a twist we don’t see coming that sets up the finale.

Side note: the children acting in this episode was pretty ghastly.  Also I guess Jessie is getting the flashbacks next week.  So Blair is the penultimate.  Interesting.

Ok so I guess I didn’t have a problem with the fact that the teacher was Officer Boyd in the sense that it didn’t bother me he hadn’t had much screen time.  He had some conversations with Garrett, 1 on 1, when he was discovering stuff.  He also was around a decent amount in the beginning as him and Garrett sort of went hand in hand when the cops showed up due to mysterious stuff going on.  And then obviously Boyd was in the flashbacks in this episode and present until he was revealed to be the teacher.  So that part doesn’t really bug me.  Here’s what bugs me:

    – OBVIOUS.  Halfway through the episode it seemed so painfully obvious that it was Boyd.  And I was sincerely hoping, (and actually thought bc it was so obvious) it was all just a ruse to reveal Deb as the teacher.  But nope.

    – Been screaming this for the whole show, but I’ll do it again- WHY IS ANYBODY DOING WHAT THEY ARE DOING?  WHY ARE THEY TRYING TO SUMMON THIS DEMON?  They feel powerless?  What?  So now by killing themselves they can live forever?  Is that sort of what Deb’s old bf did and is that why he still can lurk around Stillwater as a ghost and “live forever?”  Is this like in LOST where everyone who died on the island who haven’t moved on are the “whispers?”

    – Why does Boyd get off scott free but everyone else has to kill themselves?  How did Boyd get the role of the “teacher?”

Drew and Blair were the major highlight in this episode.  Sure, everything looked kind of cool.  And the cave setting was cool, and the sadistic ritual was creepy.  And there were many deaths.  So it wasn’t all horrible.  It’s just looking at the grand scheme of the entire picture of the show as a whole, I find there to be many faults and a lack of detailed storytelling and most of all, true motive or meaning.

The one saving grace that will keep me watching is finding out who still is killing and why they are doing what they are doing.  If Boyd was the teacher, who is the person who killed Cricket and Blotter?  As much as I want it to be Deb, I think they are setting her up to be the hero here.  Still trying to figure out why Elizabeth Mitchell took this role.  She has to do something in the final 3 episodes.  My guess is that Amy killed them in her satanic state.  And the demon is officially on the loose now because the bloods mixed.  Outside chance of Deb.  Outside chance of Holyoke.  They did say Anton was still talking to him.  But like, where does he fit in with all this?

And then there’s Blair, who still hasn’t gotten a flashback episode yet.  But I just don’t think he’s behind any of this.  Although how he will connect to the final end pieces is a little intriguing.  I’m also assuming this was Jessie’s flashback too.  So she may not get anything else.  But at the end of the day, we have three episodes left, and only 1 person who hasn’t gotten a flashback episode, assuming Jessie’s was part of Garrett’s.  It’s too late to introduce a new player onto the scene, so I’m sticking with the demon in the form of Amy being the one who killed Blotter and Cricket.

Oh wait, crap, Amy hadn’t been possessed yet when Blotter was killed.  Ahh damn it.  I want Deb to be good, but it’s just too easy.  It has to be her.  But her motivation based on what we’ve seen so far, no friking clue.  Perhaps she’s the only one who gets two flashbacks.

Any guesses anyone?  I guess I’m going with Deb.

A Dr. Whale death wouldn’t surprise me either.  Just another minor character that would still hurt if he died as opposed to any of the main characters getting offed.

Side note: Wasn’t it nickyhelp who was adamantly saying Robin wan’t going to die?  Just saying.  Everybody is wrong sometimes.

I think killing Granny would be a great way to get Ruby back into everything.  But I doubt they have the stones to do it.

I also feel like no one major will die.  Mainly because off how recently they killed off Robin.  If they hadn’t killed a major character last season, I would think we are overdue.  But not the case.  EQ will likely kill someone we all love but isn’t a main character.  Perhaps a dwarf like Grumpy, or Blue Fairy, or Archie, or Granny, or Moe French.  Now that these minor characters are going to allegedly be relevant again, I think it is way more likely someone like that dies.

Well it’s gotta be someone who we have not gotten a backstory for.  Or it’s Deb bc as RG said, we still don’t really know what her purpose is.  So considering next episode is called “Townie,” my guess is we will get Garrett’s backstory.  And there’s no way he’s the masked  man.  And as RG said, Jessie was with Garrett so could it really be her?  For me, it’s down to Deb, Jessie, Blair, and the old sheriff guy.  I say no to sheriff guy bc he was like completely irrelevant and not developed even a little.  Blair we have yet to get a backstory on, and likely won’t next week either, so his will come near the end, so that makes me think it could be him.  But based on his behavior and his actions/reactions, I just don’t think it would make much sense.  A possessed Amy seems too easy.  I think they are going to go with a big reveal with this one.

So that leaves me with Deb and Jessie.  I think ultimately, Deb knows more about what’s going on (bc how is she ok with just seeing her old flame disappear into the misty water).  Side note: she knew he died.  Why was she acting like he was alive?  Or did she know?  She didn’t seem super surprised to see him, as if she knew she might see him eventually since there are ghosts at this place.  And did she have sex with a ghost?  Uhhh, so weird.  But she knows more, but ultimately I think she’s one of the good guys.  Which brings it to Jessie.  Yes, Jessie was with Garrett.  But I think she moved the body already prior to this episode.  And just her overall demeanor and attitude make me think she is the one.  Plus no backstory for her yet either so there’s that.

Overall, decent episode.  But I was a little disappointed that they are keeping Deb’s knowledge about everything still close to the chest.  I mean, at the end of the day, the woman did have the mask in her closet.

And who will the final victim be?  I would be very disappointed if after all this, we never get the demon unleashed.  So I’m guessing one more is going to get the ax.

Oh and just thought of another possible person, since Garrett’s father is involved.  Could the masked person be his mom?

So I can’t say they won’t make a mess of this…like the dark one mythology.  But just because there are other saviors doesn’t diminish Emma’s character or who she is and what she stands for in the least bit for me.  That would be like saying Rumple’s character took a hit when we learned about all the other dark ones.  I think opening this theme of what it means to be a savior and opening up a mythology that I never knew existed could be very interesting.  However, it has so much potential that they could easily screw it all up.  I also will say though, that I’m happy Aladdin isn’t just being brought in as a guest appearance just to say they incorporated him (cough cough Hercules and Megara).  It seems he and  Jafar are vital to OUAT’s story and they are connecting him directly to the Savior.  To me, that’s awesome.

I feel like I still don’t know Joel as a character even after this flashback. He never once came off as having visions or perhaps some sort of psychosis. A flashback is supposed to help me understand the character more but I feel like they shoved a random “issue” on to Joel so they could do something with Joel in the present day. For example, Cricket’s insecurities and need for validation from Alex made sense once we saw her flashback. Even Alex’s hyper-all-American-boy shtick made sense once we saw who he really was. For Joel, he says that the camera is the only way he could tell what’s real or not, but in the flashback we saw that he was interested in film making and recording everything around him before his brother died and before Joel himself saw the Tall Man. I just feel like I have nothing to latch on to when it comes to Joel. He’s not actually crazy since Holyoak is real so….what else is there for him?

100% agree with all of this.  And what on earth is up with Deb?  Is she being consumed by whatever evil this is just like Amy was?  Because like Deb, Amy didn’t remember kissing young cop guy.  Or was it all in Joel’s mind?  We know he thought he saw Deb basically strip for him in the window when in fact that wasn’t the case and she covered up immediately.  Like I still don’t quite understand why Elizabeth Mitchell would go for this part.  She has yet to be integral to the story other than the fact that she had one of those masks.  I really sincerely hope she’s aware of what’s going on and is very much behind this.  Hopefully she gets a flashback soon.

We also still need to get a Blair flashback.  Because of the way the story has been unfolding, it does make certain characters seem intriguing because we know the end game is near so whoever hasn’t gotten a flashback must be pretty damn important to how all this ends.  So here’s to hoping people like Blair, and Deb, and Jesse, and Garrett are important to how this all shakes out.  I’m also interested in knowing why only certain people have been able to see the tall man.  Gotta be a reason.

But still my biggest problem with this show is WHY.  Why is the tall man trying to kill Amy?  Why is he haunting people in the first place?  What is his motivation?  I get they are keeping things close to the chest still, but I guess it’s just the way that the story is unfolding that has me quite puzzled as to WHY all this stuff is even happening in the first place.
