Participant8. Is it, or has it ever been, in Gold’s shop?

ParticipantJust no more dark Hook. That guy is insane.

Participant2. Does the object belong to someone?

ParticipantYes, seeing how Hades just used Belle and their unborn baby as leverage over Rumple, it isn’t all that surprising from our perspective. We have more knowledge than Rumple did at that point. However, the only things Rumple knew when the portal opened were (a) Hades had already been defeated thanks to Zelena, and (b) Henry and his mommies all wanted that Olympian crystal back. He likely thought the portal was some form of magic created either by Henry’s power as the author or by Henry’s mothers’ combined magic. Rumple didn’t yet know the Charmings were stuck in A Land of Untold Stories, so he had no reason to suspect Mr. Hyde was the one targeting him. Moreover, as much as we collectively give the Charmings a hard time for throwing Belle under the bus (which they did), Rumple had no reason yet to think anyone else besides them knew of Belle being in that box.
Well sure but maybe the portal was just a portal. Why does it have to equate to someone wanting to steal something. At the end of the day, a portal was opening up, and my first instinct would be not to get uscked up into it, and if I did, I would want what matters most to me. So Rumple knew a portal was coming, but certainly didn’t know someone was trying to steal anything. Hypothetically, if I knew a portal was opening up, I would grab what was dear to me, not necessarily what I thought had the greater potential of being stolen.
While I don’t think he really has learned anything (seeing how he keeps choosing power over Belle), I think he really does justify it by telling himself (and Belle in the box) that everything he’s done, he’s done to help her and the baby. However, I think there will come a time when Rumple will finally choose Belle and the baby over the power and that is when TLK will work. I don’t think he’ll get to experience a happy ending, but he’ll probably die a hero or something (again).
See I kinda of want Rumple to just be evil now because I’m sick of the flip floppiness. But I think for that truly to happen, he would have to go overboard, and the only way I see that happening is if Belle dies. So that’s what I want. But if that doesn’t happen, I suppose I’ll settle for Rumple dying a hero yet again or giving up his darkness finally for her.

ParticipantWhy would Rumple expect someone to be after Belle when he knew Henry, Emma, and Regina were all after the most powerful object ever devised?
Maybe because he just got done with an arc where a God wanted Belle’s baby? And also nabbing Belle is the only leverage someone else would have against the most powerful person in the world.
I think he expected someone was trying to get hold of that all-powerful Olympian crystal. He didn’t know someone else was really after Pandora’s box. Also, thinking how Rumple often does, who wouldn’t target the shard over the box?
What happened to true love being the most powerful magic? Love is strength remember! Even if Rumple didn’t think anyone would go after Belle and instead would go after the crystal, he should still get Belle first. Even though he thinks he needs the crystal, he actually doesn’t! That’s his own flaw sure, and he probably really did think someone would take the crystal. But it’s his lust for power that makes him think that way. He’s more worried someone would take the crystal over taking his wife! If he thought about his wife first, his first instinct would be to protect her, regardless of whether he thought she was in immediate danger. Like if your wife or husband was next to you (in a box or in person), and you knew a portal was coming, wouldn’t your first instinct be to grab her/him? Idk, I just think the writers deliberately wanted us to see Rumple going for the power before Belle. It mirrors his choice for power over his son when he let Bae get sucked into the portal. Which makes me feel like he truly hasn’t learned anything, and also makes me think Rumple is in line to lose someone else he loves yet again which will drive him completely to the side of darkness.

ParticipantSo yeah I enjoyed the episode mainly because we have now met my favorite villain: Clayface! I just hope they don’t bring him on just to make him look Gordon for the finale to do stuff, and then just kill him off. I continue to love Nygma, although I really would like to see his green suit soon! And after the episode, I was kinda of convinced that Strange would survive this season. But in the promo, it seems Penguin is not happy. Perhaps at the resurrection of Fish? It could actually be Penguin who kills Strange. But you’re right. There is so much that needs to happen so I am very worried they aren’t going to deliver. Or they are going to carry over stuff, which I hate. Like where is Leigh? How can they bring back these dead characters and not bring back Jerome? What’s up with Barbara? Is the bald captain guy really dead? Court of Owls now? Really? we were also promised not only Clayface, but also Mad Hatter before the start of this season. Still waiting on the latter. The whole Selena thing. Gosh that was just the worst part of this episode. But hands down, the best part, other than Clayface for me, was the conversation between Bruce and Strange. Great acting by both of them. Bring on the plot heavy, action-packed finale! Oh and is that guy who wanted to eat Nygma supposed to be Killer Croc? If so, there seems to be too many potential villains in the hands of Strange to just kill him off now. My instinct says he’ll survive and move his facility. Or Penguin kills him. Like we can’t have Fish back and not have Penguin meet her.

ParticipantHonestly this show “Jumped the Shark” for me when they brought in Elsa / Frozen characters in Season 4. I loved seasons 1-3 so much…I just keep watching hoping it will get good again… but this might be it for me. They wrote the first three seasons centered around this curse that Rumple cast to find his son, who turned out to be Henry’s dad/Emma’s true love… then they killed him! When Emma and Hook went back in time at the end of Season 3B and encountered Rumple… I thought it would tie back in to saving Baelfire/Neal, but nope. The plot has never made any sense to me since the death of Neal. The whole point / the whole premise of the show is gone. If you watch any of the episodes from season 1 – 3 compared to seasons 4-6… the quality has taken a nose dive. I might sit season 6 out… it’s just too frustrating to watch.
Ahh not the whole jump the shark thing again. It certainly had it’s flaws, and they did it for the ratings, but I actually thought the way they incorporated frozen was quite good. And although the show has certainly changed, there are still episodes that are on par or even better than episodes in seasons 1-3. Or at least, that’s what I think. If anything, the story now usually suffers the most when it is simply plot driven and not character driven. But when they take the time to develop the original cast (Regina and Emma’s chat in Neal’s apt in the 5b finale), the show is still quite good.

ParticipantAnd there’s going to be something going on with Rumple still trying to wake Belle. They didn’t tell us what Hyde told Rumple but presumably Rumple is not in storybrooke and that to me is interesting, and could lead us to someone we won’t see coming. Maybe Zeus shows up again? I mean they basically made him the God figure of this show. Who better than God to have the power to not only bring people back to life, but also wake them up from sleeping curses. I hope it’s not Zeus, but I do find it hard to believe that will be the last we see of him.
This could also be the way they bring Maleficent back into the story. Didn’t she like create the sleeping curse or something? It certainly heavily revolves around her. I could see Rumple going to her for help.

ParticipantS6 is going to be about the war between the character’s two selves.
Which actually could be a better story line, if they do it right. That story line seems to suggest they will be focusing on a ton of character development within the original cast, which would be promising. However, I’m still waiting for a rather large villain to show after Hyde. But maybe I’m wrong.

ParticipantHmmm arc rankings:
1. S1- obviously the best
2. S3A- Best finale, best villain
3. S5B- Best character moments, old characters, great villain, cool CGI
4. S4A- I actually liked the frozen story line. It meshed well with the OUAT universe.
5. S2A (1-16)- Lots of great episodes in here. The only reason it’s this low is because of the many duds during this time. This was a studs and duds era for OUAT.
6. S3B- Wicked Witch was cool. But the finale left something to be desired, and it took forever to reveal Zelena’s motives.
7. S2B (17-22)- Couple clunks here but I enjoyed Tamara and Greg more than most. And I liked the welcome to storybrooke episode a lot and the transition to Pan and Neverland. And the Dragon!
8. S5A- Started out as the most promising, but then fell on it’s face in the final two episodes. The switch to make it all about Hook and not Emma was frustrating and it contradicted everything Emma said in the premiere in granny’s when she basically threatened everyone. Merlin was great though and I actually didn’t hate Merida and Arthur.
9. S4B- I actually liked the finale, but other then Cruella, this arc was a disaster. Regina flipping cars with the Queens for fun and mayhem, Ursula not being the Ursula we were lead to believe, and Maleficent being rather boring, oh and the unfinished Lily stuff and the whole muddled darkness with Snow and Charming and what actually is inside Emma. So much potential with the author and three iconic villains, but the writing just didn’t live up to the hype. Maybe I’ll have to re-watch it, because there were parts I really liked that could help get this arc out of last place, but for now, it’s where it stands.
