It shouldn’t but…..I can see the writers going there.

That would be so annoying though, especially since by the end of this episode they made it very clear that Hades simply made it nearly impossible for people to leave.  He liked the power he had on everyone.  But it would seem that he has no power regarding people actually moving on.  They either go down or up.  He was simply a hindrance and now that he’s no longer in the UW, it will make things easier for everyone.  But him dying, should not affect them based on what they have told us so far.  It would really retcon what they established in this episode I think.

I don’t disagree and I think you’re right but given that Rumple is still casually murdering (Pan) and seems content with his dagger, which he happens to really really really love, how is it EVER going to work (with just a few handful of episodes left and other plot thingys coming. It’ll be fast and underwhelming at this point)

At this point, for me, the only way I’ll be happy with the resolution to this plot is if Rumple gets rid of the darkness for good somehow (maybe Zeus knows how) and then that sacrifice leads to him waking her up.  To me, it makes sense that their relationship has changed so TLK is no longer there at the moment.  And they have been setting this up for this whole half season.  Rumple has to change for her.  And I think he will and wake her by the end.  And yes, this would mean that she doesn’t really love both the beast and the man and it would prove Rumple wrong.  I think at this point, it’s the only way the story can go for me to be ok with it.

Yeah there’s just no way he’s gone.  But as others have said, I’m more intrigued to see how he comes back now.  Hades dying should have no affect on Hook coming back.

Yeah I think it’s for both Hook and Robin.  But who will kill Robin?  IT’s not going to be Rumple bc they teased that last week.  So I’m guessing Hades or Zelena.  But man would that be a step back for Zelena if it was her.  It has to be Hades.  Whether the death sticks is a whole other question.  But this looks like quite the episode.

Ok, so I also enjoyed most of the episode mainly because there were things in it I did not see coming and I can appreciate it when this predictable show still surprises me occasionally. 8/10

    Liked:

    – Hook staying in UW and their plan not working.  I really just did not expect this and I like it, even though I’m sure they will find a way to get him back eventually, but it wasn’t a magical maguffin of ambrosia…yet.

    – Hades playing them the whole time.  I thought he was the whole time until recently and so it still fooled me.  He really does love Zelena but he’s still not a great person and he still clearly has plans for his brother Zeus.  I just think the fact that he truly does love Zelena, and yet still is a villain just adds more depth to the character.

    – Rumple attempting true love’s kiss.  I wanted him to at least try it and he did.  And it didn’t work, as it shouldn’t have.  He needs to change in order to wake her up.  Maybe it will be her father after all.  I’m just glad he tried and verified that this relationship is very broken at the moment.

    – Rumple getting the best of Pan.  I really thought he ripped out Robin’s heart and was going to go through with it.  Which would have pissed me off bc we know Rumple hates his father.  So the fact that he tricked and sent Pan to a watery grave was perfect, and just shows that Rumple only cares about three things in this world: himself, Belle (and baby), and his power.

    – Cruella and blind witch.  I mean they were great.

    – Regina and Zelena trust moments.  These two have come quite a long way.  It’s going to crush Zelena to know what Hades tried to do.  I expect she will be in denial.

    – Hook and Emma’s goodbye scene with the world’s slowest moving elevator.  I just thought their chemistry was strong in this episode and I do feel for Emma.  They all failed at the one task they were trying to accomplish and it was definitely something I didn’t see coming.

    Mixed:

    – The whole Emma true love thing.  I mean I thought it was cool that Hook went up in flames and she was basically dying herself from not having her heart and she had to choose and “proved” that she loves Hook.  It’s just, a little much, but unlike some people on here, I do believe she loves him and it was quite the test for this couple.  And I think their chemistry was actually quite strong in this episode.  There were quite a few moments where no one said anything, but they just looked at each other and you knew what they were feeling.

    – So Hades has TLK and that opens up a portal?  How exactly?  Is this something Zeus set up?

    – Flashbacks were cool but predictable.  Still nice to get some answers.  I did love the first scene mirroring the pilot.

    – I’m going to accept that Emma’s heart can be taken if she allows it.  But this is a fine line and I don’t love it.

    Disliked:

    – Henry can write people’s unfinished business.  Huh?

    – The whole thing with Hook’s body being down there too long I guess works, since the only time we saw the heart split work was with Charming who was dead for like a couple minutes.  But still, it’s a stretch.

    – How exactly does Belle being in Pandora’s box help anything?  I guess it makes it easier for Rumple to move her, but idk.

I’m more excited for what’s to come.  What is Hades’ backstory that makes him still feel this much hatred and desire for revenge?  What’s his plan?  Is it still to go back in time and change things?  He has true love now and he’s not trapped anymore in the UW so shouldn’t he be fine now?  What does he want and why did he not want the heroes to come to storybrooke with him?  And is Hook really gone?  How are they going to bring him back?  Neal said this wouldn’t end the way she thinks it will.  So what is next?

Yeah I think it’s saving everyone.  It started out as Hook and now it’s saving all the souls and even Zelena.

So these two new “brothers” are supposed to lead us into something bigger and something very different than they have done before.  This really does seem like the plot they were going to go with Tamara and Greg before they changed it to Peter Pan and Neverland.  If that is the case, these Jekyl and Hyde characters are just an introduction to something bigger in season 6.  Is there not going to be a big bad for season 6?  Or are they keeping it close to the chest?  Will we find out in the finale?  I just highly doubt Jekyl and Hyde are the big baddies.  They seem like they should be working for someone bigger.  It’s just, they are running out of villains and I’m not sure who it could be.  Who would they have gone with in season 3a if they didn’t do Pan?  I’m trying to look for clues but it might just be too early.  At first I thought this was going to lead us into Olympus, but that doesn’t seem to be the case anymore.

Not sure what retconned in this episode…and I think Zelena’s arc this whole season has really given us a solid reason for rooting for her.  And if she thinks she loves Hades, there has been enough on screen for us to perhaps want her to have a happy ending.  It’s not just the writers telling us we need to feel this way.  I actually think Zelena has been handled quite nicely this half season, and she was someone I never thought I would want to see redeemed.

    9/10

Anyway, just quickly I’ll say I really liked this episode.  quite the bounce back from last week for me.  So many feels.  Those three women stole the show.  Incredible acting for me always trumps occasional plot nonsense (which there was some).

    Liked:

    – Everything Cruella

    – Cora, Regina, and Zelena reuniting.

    – the flashbacks were nice, but a little wonky in plot as others have pointed out

    – Hades actually likes Zelena….I’m starting to be convinced.  Him dancing was pretty great.  Little things like that show character and I can appreciate it.

    Mixed:

    – David vs. James stuff.  It was ok, but some really cheesy dialogue, and I think everyone knew he was going overboard.  I’m just glad Cruella fled bc she’s no moron.

    – Rumple working with his father.  I don’t love that they are blaming Zelena for giving Belle the idea of the sleeping curse, but I can sort of see where Rumple is coming from and I’m intrigued to see what him and Pan are going to do.

    Disliked:

    – Wonky plot elements.  All the blood magic stuff with Cora not being able to heal Regina blah blah blah.  That was crap.

Overall great episode mainly because it delivered on some things I never thought we would see (Zelena reuniting with Cora, and Cora moving on and admitting she was wrong and that BOTH her daughters were her unfinished business).  Plus, the acting was outstanding from these three women as was the writing for all the scenes in present day.

Overall I liked this episode too.  It’s crazy how they can turn the worst character on television into one of the best.  Barbara was once again a delight.  I continue to like Hugo Strange and now we are finally starting to see his motives and what it means for the final few episodes here.  Although as you said, we all knew where the plot was going and we all knew the Philosopher was Strange.  I am however looking forward to them tying together the first half here with Galavan coming back and then I’m sure they will bring back Fish and Jerome as well.  And then we will have so many villains…..”wrath of the villains” seems pretty on point now.
