ParticipantTo me this is obvious. It’s the same way they get around everything. When they kill Hades, everything he has done will no longer be. All the souls will likely be freed as well. It may be that simple. Killing him will be challenging, but once it’s done, I feel like so many things will become easy.

ParticipantI am excited to see Cora and Zelena though.
Certainly a payoff we all have been looking for. Hopefully it delivers.

ParticipantIt does feel like they set up Mulan Rogue and then got cold feet for some inexplicable reason? Was it Disney??
I was wondering the same thing.

ParticipantI am of so many minds over this that I think it needs bullet pointed… PRO –Ruby and Dorothy did have a pretty nice connection. Their walk/talk was a nice moment about how alone they felt WITHOUT it being about their sexuality. CON –But every character on this show feels like an outcast at some point and it’s not like they developed true love with the person standing beside them who also felt like an outcast! CON –The love stories on this show are becoming tragically under developed with each passing season. It takes more than one walk and talk, one bike ride, one flower, one adventure to know that you’re in true love. Remember when this show used to declare that true love was rare and that’s why it must be fought for? PRO –Acceptance by all characters over how Ruby felt without any shock or disgust CON –Mulan keeps using gender neutral terminology when discussing the person it was “too late” for her to be with. PRO –A long and extended TLK for an LGBT ship CON –And now they go off to Forgotten Character Island making this episode feel like it was only to generate buzz, appeal to sensationalism, and appease the LGBT fanbase of OUAT. It’s almost cheap; have an LGBT canon ship but never explore it in the same careful, meaningful, and lengthy way the did for, say, Snowing.
I agree 100% with everyone you just said. It should have been Mulan. It shouldn’t have been so fast, and it shouldn’t just go to forgotten character island. As nice as it was to see how accepting everyone was of it on the show, they screwed this up so much. This is probably the angriest I’ve ever been regarding this show. This does hit home a bit for me, but I don’t think that’s the real reason I’m so outraged by this. Plus Dorothy was just an awful character. She was supposed to be this “warrior” and she literally did nothing except let Scarecrow get his brains taken away, let Toto get caught, almost get taken by flying monkeys and need Red to save her, and then get put under a sleeping curse. Quite the warrior.
And poor Mulan. I feel so bad for her. How many people around her have to find true love before she literally walks off a cliff. Why even bring Mulan back for this crap?

ParticipantSo I don’t think it was on purpose. Belle wouldn’t do that. She would however rush into doing something drastic without fully understanding the consequences. And I truly do think Belle loves her father. And despite what others think, and what Moe has done in the past, I think he really does love Belle and he always does what he feels is truly right for her, regardless of whether that is true or not. It reminds me of Cora’s love for Regina. Moe loves his daughter very much and I guess could break the curse. But he’s not even in the UW right now! Why would she think he could even get to her? It was so dumb I thought. But I don’t think she put Rumple in this spot on purpose.
Obviously they are setting up Rumple to get rid of the darkness and make TLK work for Belle. But how is he going to get rid of the darkness? Does this mean he won’t be the man who wields the darkness for good? Is there another way to get rid of the darkness without using Excalibur, and the writers just haven’t revealed it to us? Getting rid of the darkness would at least connect the two half seasons.

ParticipantOk… here’s goes nothing. This may be the most negative I’ve been about the show in awhile so bare with me.
Overall: 5/10
I thought this episode was pretty awful.
Liked:
– That they followed through on this LGBT relationship. There were issues, but at least it was something.
– Snow and Ruby’s talk about how Snow knew for a long time about Ruby. It was true, it was heartfelt, and very realistic and Snow was the perfect person to have that conversation with her. Best scene of the episode.
– Hades turning Auntie Em into gloop was pretty great.
– Belle coming to Zelena for help was great too. Enjoyed that scene quite a lot.
– Snowing actually feeling bad for leaving baby Neal. We all jumped on the writers for not addressing this at the end of season 5a, and I’m glad they found a way to get Snow back to her son. Plus spitting up those two usually makes them more interesting honestly.
– Hook’s redemption? He actually had a nice conversation with Charming and Charming admitted Hook was growing on him. And Hook actually thanked him and almost sort of apologized for not seeming more grateful. But it is also makes more sense to me now….Hook seems less grateful not because he’s a jerk but because he didn’t want Emma to save him, never mind have the whole motley crew come down for him. He obviously is thankful, but it’s hard to be really thankful when he didn’t want them to do it in the first place.
– Henry actually being the author and calling Charming Grandpa. It’s the little things writers…
– Once again Hades and Zelena are sort of stealing the show this half season.
Mixed:
– Realm jumping has just become way too easy. And I get why it has become that way. They need new stories, so they need new realms and they need to send these characters to these realms. Problem is that the way they told seasons 1-3, getting to different realms was extremely difficult. Now it’s not and the show suffers a bit for it.
Disliked:
– How did Ruby get to the UW exactly? A tracking spell (although wasn’t a tornado what brought her here).
– Ruby Slippers happened so fast. They continue to have this problem. Had the relationship been with another character, perhaps it would have felt less rushed because we had seen Ruby with them before. That’s what I thought they meant when they said they were setting up this relationship in season 5a. This was crazy fast, and honestly just so early for true love’s kiss.
– Poor Mulan. This was heartbreak hotel for me. I stood by this character being in the LGBT relationship and I said I would be angry if she wasn’t part of it, so I am. How many times is she going to use pronouns? How many times are the people around her going to find love and she isn’t? Why even bring Mulan back for this crap? Anybody who saw season 2, knows Mulan was being set up for this relationship. Why that changed is beyond me. Even in season 5a, they had Red leap onto Mulan, and then they showed that in the beginning of this episode as well. All signs pointed to Mulan. But then they cast this random girl who they wanted to be “warrior Dorothy”, and she really was only cast so they could pair her with Ruby. They had never met before. She also literally sucked. Did she display any sort of warrior fight in her at all in the two episodes we saw? She got burned by Zelena a couple episodes ago, and now she needed Ruby to escape some flying monkeys. And then she went and got herself pricked into a sleeping curse. What a waste and a bland character. With Mulan, they had met before. It would have felt way less rushed. Especially since they allegedly have been together doing stuff since 5a. Why did they change this? I just don’t get it. The relationship was nice in that it was nice to see this kind of relationship fully accepted on this show. But boy did they mess this part up. And now both characters will just go to forgotten character island. So not only did they screw up Mulan here, but now this LGBT relationship is only going to be for one episode. We aren’t even going to see it continue to be played out like all the other couples on here. Very furious about this. Ok rant over.
– The plot literally stopped this week. What on earth is Hades’ end game? What is the friking point of his character right now? We still don’t know so much and it’s reminding me of season 3b.
– Belle putting herself in the sleeping curse. Like WHAT? How is it that Hades can’t get the baby if she is knocked out? That makes no sense. And equally, it makes no sense that she would think her father would be the one to wake her up. Her father isn’t even in the UW! Is she crazy? This was so dumb and it made Belle look rash and she didn’t even let Rumple try and explain why this was a horrible idea. What a dud to end the episode on.
– Where on earth was Robin. There was a line Regina even said saying that Robin would want Snow to check in on Roland in SB. Are you kidding me? Like where the heck was this man?
We better get some answers as to what they plan to do to defeat Hades, and how they plan on saving Hook, because remember, he is still actually dead! The plot is a mess right now. This half season started so strong and the last two just have stopped the UW plot and it’s maddening. Hopefully next week gives us some good Regina and Zelena stuff and moves the plot along. But this was the worst episode of this half season by far for me.

ParticipantAlso, if they did kill Robin off for good, there’s no way they could write his death without there being issues: 1. If they have Robin move on, possibly with Marian thus giving Robin a “happy ending”, it makes Regina look like a placeholder. 2. If they have Robin “wait” for Regina, then he’s just sat twiddling his thumbs in Underbrooke until Regina grows old and dies.
Hmm this is an interesting thought. They can’t have him move on with Marian. But my guess is that he will wait for Regina, but when that happens, the UW no longer is the crap place that it is so its ok if Robin has to stay there. Hades will likely be defeated or changed by then. But then it would be annoying if they didn’t try and save him too like they did with Hook. So there has to be a more permanent death here which makes me think the UW will no longer exist, therefore they can’t save Robin. If you die before your significant other, does that mean you have unfinished business though? Doesn’t seem fair just because you die first haha.

ParticipantSo, something I forgot to mention, but after listening to the latest full podcast, it made me remember. Hook is seriously being a jerk now. I still stand by his snark in Our Decay simply because I think Henry was being dumb not letting the group know about his blackouts and how he didn’t even write what Hook was sarcastically commenting on. But this past week with Her Handsome Hero, there is literally no reason for Hook to be snarking on Regina. He’s being really ungrateful. I get the writers want to incorporate some snark with Hook because that’s always sort of been his way of humor and personality, but right now the story can’t call for that because he looks like he doesn’t even care that they are saving him now.

ParticipantPeople already set their opinion on whether Robin is dying or not. No one is going to convince the other, all we can do is wait. This argument has become pointless since filming ended and we can’t possibly know if the actors are lying.
Pretty much. We will just have to wait and see. My point was simply that although Neal certainly represented “dead is dead,” many many others have not, therefore opening many opportunities for whoever dies, to possibly be resurrected. So none of this could matter by the end of the season or the start of season 6.
thedarkonedearie
ParticipantOh and I’m not sure how I forgot this, but Rumple too was brought back from death.
