Well I haven’t seen the sneak peak for next episode, but if I told everyone I would try and use my author abilities to defeat Hades, then I woke up and saw what had been written, I would feel the need to explain before I just showed them.  I would expect them to be confused.  It literally makes no sense unless I told them I didn’t do it on purpose.  Sure, Hook was being snarky and rude…But he should tell them he blacked out because otherwise it looks like he deliberately wrote something that has nothing to do with defeating Hades.  He shouldn’t tell them he blacked out so as to avoid snarky sarcastic comments.  There is a difference.  He said he was going to do something.  He didn’t do it.  He wrote something completely off topic.  And since he didn’t actually write it, that’s something you say before you show everyone (everyone who is expecting it to be something completely different).  Hook was just the only one who voiced his frustration, but I think everyone felt it.  Because everyone was utterly confused.  Like it was really odd for him not to say anything before giving the pages to everyone.  Like what did he think everyone would say?  “Great work Henry, you’re trying your best.”  That would make no sense because he’s supposed to be writing about Hades.  Try your best doesn’t apply here.  Any horrible new writer can write at least something pertaining to Hades.  This was so off topic, it made no sense and needed an explanation.

To me, his I’m doing my best rant made no sense because it’s out of his control.  If he wrote something about Hades that just wasn’t good enough, and then Hook made those comments, then absolutely that’s so unfair because he’s trying and he’s new to this.  But that’s not what happened.  The pen wrote it.

Sure, fair points.  I just think if he knew Henry was blacking out, he wouldn’t have reacted that way.  He reacted thinking Henry chose to write the seemingly insignificant material which had nothing to do with what he said he would try and do.  If I was trying to get out of Hell, I would be frustrated too.  But notice he doesn’t say anything after Henry tells them he blacked out and it wasn’t in his control.  Henry should have led with that before giving the group his “work.”

Ok so I know plenty of people on here will hate me….but here goes nothing.  Like was Hook really “bullying” Henry here.  And how “mean” was it?  At first watch, I didn’t think much of it.  Just watched the scene again, still think you guys are over-blowing this.  The worst thing he says is, “Is my morning breakfast in here too?”  Which considering what he was reading and how it had nothing to do with defeating Hades, which is what Henry said he would try, the sarcastic comment seemed reasonable to me.  And he basically said what everyone else was thinking.  When Henry shows him what he wrote, they are expecting it to have something to do with what he said he was going to try and do: defeat Hades.  And even after he makes his sarcastic comment, he levels with Henry and genuinely says, “I thought you were going to use your author powers to defeat Hades.”  If this is bullying, then I don’t even know anymore.  Based on what Henry had said he would try and do, perhaps he should have informed the group before he gave them his book that he didn’t actually write what they are reading and it was out of his control.  I would have reacted very similarly if I was Hook because if Henry had wrote that, it would have been ridiculous.  Just my two cents worth.

fter all, he just used his dark magic to send Milha into the River of Lost Souls.

But didn’t Hades sort of force his hand here?  He wouldn’t have done it if Hades wasn’t blackmailing him.  If I was Belle, and Rumple told me that he had to do it in order to comply with Hades so he wouldn’t take my child, I wouldn’t hold it against him.  If I believed him of course.

But like, even you acknowledge that Belle said she loves parts of the darkness in him.  And if that is the case, the power part to me isn’t the issue.  She is ok with the power, it’s what he does with that power.  It’s why Robin is ok with Regina having magic.  If she was still using it for evil, it wouldn’t work.  Belle said those things at the town line mainly because of what Rumple was doing with his power (evil hat sucking).  You cut out the evil stuff he does with the power, and I think you have a happy couple going forward.  And other than Milah (which like I said, I feel like his hand was forced there by Hades), Rumple hasn’t really done anything evil since season 4.

Tangentially: Someone please explain to me the necessity of a live baby as a time travel spell ingredient. If the spell relies on symbols or signs (baby as a symbol/representation of innocence, brain as a symbol/representation of intelligence/wisdom), couldn’t any other representation or symbol do? How about a lamb for innocence? How about an owl for wisdom? How about some color symbolism? How about simply writing “innocence” on a piece of paper, and use that? This makes no sense to me.

Yeah perhaps this will be addressed.  Perhaps children are actually the most attainable form of innocence.  I imagine lambs are few and far between and children and babies are like everywhere.  Plus, you know, helps with the PLOT.

So many feels.  I can at least appreciate really good acting.  I did the same and re-watched for the first time in a while.  Now hopefully they don’t crush some of this momentum with a dull Belle story.  Because that has happened in the past.  Belle is rather interesting right now and I’m hoping the next episode keeps the train rolling.

Now that she is carrying his child, she might end up settling the way Milha thought she had to for the sake of Bae. Then again, Belle might not, since she might feel Rumple’s addiction wouldn’t be a good influence on an impressionable young child. I suppose this ought to be viewed as a cautionary tale that love isn’t always enough and that it doesn’t always help someone to become free of addiction/love of power/whatever issue.

It will be interesting to see how Belle continues to react to this whole dilemma, because now that a baby is involved, I do see a scenario where she settles for the sake of her child, allowing them to be with his or her father.  Or, she might not settle.  I think we’ll start to see Belle try and control Rumple a bit in what he uses the power for in the next episode.  She’s going to at least give it the old college try and see if Rumple is being sincere when he says he doesn’t want to use it for bad.  Because I do think it has been made very clear, that Belle only really cares when Rumple does something bad with his power (like hat sucking, or murder etc. etc.).  If he can prove to her that he’ll only use the power to protect the one’s he loves and not for evil, that may be enough for her.  But she’s going to put boundaries up right away and make sure he knows she’s the one in control and that she will leave him if he doesn’t bend a bit for her.  But if I were her, and Rumple said he loved the power and myself equally, but then only used the power for protection and not for evil (plus I’m carrying his child), I would probably accept that and at least see if it could work.

It was always clear (to me) that she was in love with Aurora and gay, but since they’ve played it so close to the vest and had Mulan never use a proper pronoun when talking about her love interest…they could, theoretically, change the perception of Mulan’s sexuality. With that said, I don’t think they will. That’s a lot of backlash that would hit them all at once (first with changing Mulan’s sexuality, and then with–possibly–killing one half of the only LGBT  couple on the show). If anything, they’ll keep Mulan vague and undeclared.

They would get so much backlash….like wow.  Like I just thought it was so clear what she was crying about in that scene.  I thought it was clear as day, but apparently others feel differently.

1st Mulan never was declared in show canon Bi or lesbian

See I feel like she was.  It wasn’t ever said, but it’s why I love that scene with Aurora in season 2.  I mean anyone watching that knows what that was.

If it’s not Mulan, the previously established LGBT character, that’s a truly terrible narrative point.

Pretty much this is how I feel.  They have set Mulan up to be in this relationship.  It has been hinted at more than once, and if they just make it Dorothy with Red for the shock value, uhhhh I will be so pissed.  Especially if Dorothy ends up being dead.  Just based on what I have seen in the past, I just will not believe it is Dorothy and Red until I see it.
