ParticipantAnd just to clarify: on LOST, they were NOT dead the entire time. They did not die in the series opening plane crash and were stuck in some sort of limbo/Purgatory. They survived the crash and what you saw transpire actually happened, including the escape by 6 of the castaways (and then eventual return) from the island. The flashsideways WERE “the afterlife” in a manner of speaking but everyone died at different stages–some before the series finale, some during the series finale, and some escaped yet again and lived out their lives in relative normalcy before passing away–and simply waited for the others in the gathering place (a “church” that had every religious icon you could imagine) before moving on together because that was the lasting theme of the series–not the mystery and the big questions of statues and smoke monsters–but that you have to live together or else die alone. The lasting legacy of LOST ‘s narrative (which largely stems from people being disappointed in the finale and final season) is that they were dead all along and it was all a big joke or prank from the writers. But that’s simply not true. Again, just to clarify. I spent 6 very beautiful years with that show and it’s one of the ones that has forever made a lasting impact on me.
Such a side note here but I felt compelled to comment. Thank you so much RG. You wouldn’t belive how many people I run into that tell me they were dead the whole time. It really pisses me off. It was made very clear that they survived the crash and what happened truly did happen. I’m glad someone understood that and actually understood the revelations we got in the finale.

ParticipantFiller…… as RG said, hopefully Hercules and Meg are fun. Otherwise this could potentially be a 4/10 type episode. Although, I always have felt this way about episodes after premieres.

ParticipantI think it will be very interesting to see how Hades is connected to the Dark Curse and to The Dark One. I bet it is all connected. Like maybe by creating the dark curse, the repercussions were creating this “dark evil darkness.” Once this is revealed, perhaps we will go back to the Lily story line and they will tie that up going into next season. I still think we are going to get the true origin story behind how the darkness officially came to be, and not just how Merlin tried to control it and who the first person to inhabit it was (Nimue). How did it even exist? I’m guessing Hades and I’m guessing it has something to do with the Dark Curse that he created, that Rumple later retrieved with the Queens of Darkness.

ParticipantFavorite season: Season 1
Top 3 Episodes: So many….but I loved A land Without Magic, Queen of Hearts, Skin Deep, Going Home
Least Favorite Episodes: Broken Heart, Swan Song, all the filler episodes that were just God awful.
Favorite S1 character: Rumple
Favorite character now: Still Rumple with Regina and Emma close behind.
Best/Worst Moment: So tough. Too many.
Best Developed Character: Regina with Rumple and Emma close behind
Best Villain: Rumple, Peter Pan, Cruella…in that order.
The show is not what it was, but I am determined to see it to the end because I think there is some great material they have been saving for the end, and the end is near.

ParticipantThis episode also has me worried. It was such a strong first episode back….and this has filler written all over it. Cruella using Cerberus for whatever advantage she is trying to get, seems like a good guess.

Participant8/10. Solid.
Liked:
– Regina and Henry sr. That final scene with both Henrys and Regina was some great writing and acting from everyone. eyes watered up for sure. And I thought it was kinda cool that since I suppose the fire beneath is “hell”, a bridge appears to safely take souls who have indeed gotten closure was fitting.
– Emma and Neal. That beginning scene also I think was done very well. I, along with everyone else however, am not buying that Neal has no unfinished business.
– I always loved Pan and Robbie Kay so I enjoyed seeing him again.
– I really liked that they tied up the Cora/Henry Sr. wonderland loose end. And I liked that apparently Sydney has more power than I thought when he was able to reach out and pull Cora back into Wonderland.
– Hades. Greg Germann was really great I thought. Really captured Hades well, with his snarky, charismatic arrogance, but also maintained the dangerous component. Acting was great.
– Loved the CGI of the five rivers. It made sense that Cora would have to shoot down that elevator to see Hades.
– Loved that Cora is now a peasant again. Fitting.
– Enjoyed James making out with Snow. He’s just so much more interesting than David is.
– Loved that it seems Hades created the dark curse. We got a loose end tied up with Henry sr. and Cora and now potentially a big reveal with Hades and the dark curse. It tells me they still have plans to tell us some of these answers we never thought we would get.
Mixed:
The red tint. It was slightly annoying. But it did give me a creepy feel. They needed to do something so it didn’t look just like a battered storybrooke. Just not sure the red tint was the best option.
Disliked:
– Rumple zero mentioning of Neal.
– Hades’ blue hair. It looks awful. I honestly liked it better when it was darker blue and not like white or whatever color that is now. If you’re gonna do CGI hair, do the right color.
– The first flashback scene of Regina as the EQ was not very good. It felt like we didn’t need it. And all I kept thinking was, oh great another scene where Regina terrorizes a village to try and find Snow White. It has gotten so old. But I was happy to see that the flashbacks ended up being relevant to wrapping up Henry sr’s story line and tied up a loose end.
Overall, I really liked this episode. Lots of feels, and Hades intrigues me going forward. I think it’s very interesting that Hades’ UW existed before storybrooke, and so storybrooke looks just like the UW because Hades potentially created the dark curse. It’s a nice spin that they are taking here.
8/10

ParticipantYes, I think Hades is probably the one who created the Dark Curse. When you boil it down to its basics, the Dark Curse takes away Happy Endings, the very thing that Emma restores. I think Hades and Emma are being set up to be opposites of each other (the enemy of life, the savior or life;) It would make sense for him to have created the Dark Curse that she was destined to break.
Yeah Hades definitely created it. And I think it makes perfect sense just as you explained. I think it’s nice that we will find out finally who made the dark curse.

ParticipantThis entirely….they could cut Robin, Zelena, Belle, & Hook because at the end of the day, they’re not part of the Original Roster (Emma, Snow, Charming, Regina, & Rumple). That Core Gang is essential, it’d be like kicking Shaggy or Daphne out of Mystery Inc….it just wouldn’t work.
And this is precisely why Ginnifer Goodwin will be back. I don’t care what her contract says, they will figure it out. Where are all those people who said they could get rid of her because she’s allegedly unhappy and the show would be fine?

ParticipantThat’s assuming that Aladdin and Princess and the Frog would be the focus of the arcs they appear in. They might not be. For example, 5A was mainly about Camelot and the Dark Swan, but you also had Merida mixed in as a side story. 4B also incorporated Maleficent, Ursula and Cruella into one arc. There’s also the more old school guest star route, where they are only the focus of one or a small handful of episodes like Cinderella, Hansel and Gretel, the Mad Hatter, Ariel, and Rapunzel.
I agree here. They could absolutely make Aladdin work, even if it’s just for an episode or two like Meg and Hercules coming up. And like Matthew Paul said, they literally just said they wanted to do Aladdin and Jasmine and Princess and the Frog. So it’s not like they have no desire to incorporate it, or don’t have a plan. And usually when they say they would love to incorporate certain characters, they show up eventually. They always said they wanted to do Merida, Elsa and Anna, Cruella. And we eventually got all those characters. Them mentioning them in the latest interview is very telling I think and now since next season is confirmed, I’d be shocked if we didn’t see some of these characters before the show takes it’s final bow.

ParticipantAgreed. When you start a show with something as iconic as Prince Charming breaking Snow White’s curse with true love’s kiss, and you tell these classic fairy tale stories with these classic characters, you can’t just replace them with new ones. Nope nope nope. I will not watch, and many others won’t as well.
