Harleygirl is also right as the Dark Curse can’t be broken, only transferred. That is a HUGE plot point in the series.
Strictly speaking, that’s not entirely true since the Dark Curse can be broken. From Skin Deep:

True love’s kiss will break any curse.We saw the dark one curse being broken when Belle kissed Rumple, because Rumple seemed taken aback that Belle would even kiss him, let alone love him. Yet, as soon as Belle cried out “It’s working!” Rumple instantly pulled away, halting the positive effects of the kiss, perhaps because he didn’t allow himself to think she could really love him. He thought Regina had put her up to it, (and Regina did plant the idea in Belle’s head), but Belle’s intentions were good. Now, we’ve seen Belle and Rumple kiss several times in our world, after magic was brought to A Land Without Magic, yet still Rumple’s curse remains. Why? Well, that is part of the bigger mystery about whether the dark one curse is specific to the Enchanted Forest. As Mr. Gold, he lacks the same reptile-like appearance that he has in the EF. I think we’ll see the TLK break Rumple’s curse, but only after he and Belle both end up in the Enchanted Forest together and share TLK. Then, maybe he’ll be free of his dark one curse once and for all.
Yes, you are right Slurpeez re: TLK in Skin Deep. I don’t have an explanation for why TLK no longers works. I like your idea that it could be specific to the EF. However, it still seemed to carry its weight and power in SB (once the Dark Curse was broken) and in NL. Perhaps another plausible explanation is that Bae was still his top priority, thus being his one TL. However, he seemed to have resolved his issues with Bae and accepted everything, right before he plunged the dagger into Pan. Pity he didn’t have an opportunity to kiss Belle between settling his resolve with Bae and plunging that knife into Pan.
Has anyone ever asked Adam why TLK no longer worked with Rumbelle? I’d be curious to see him skirt around that answer. Betzy, Rumbelle fans must have asked that a million times. Any thoughts?

Yes! Yes! YES!!!! Maybe that’s the “big news” that Anders was tweeted about awhile back. Said it was too early to reveal. Loved him and Masi together. Hayden’s unlikely as she’s doing so well on Nashville (great show!).

I think everyone expected to see Rumple redeemed by giving up his own life. As much as “we, the fans” wish to see this, Marty is right, it’s much too early in the series to see this. Harleygirl is also right as the Dark Curse can’t be broken, only transferred. That is a HUGE plot point in the series. Emma is the main protagonist in this story and Rumple still has miles to go before he can lay down his cane of pain and settle in with Belle. Rumple may have given his life to save his family and everyone in SB, however, let’s not forget how much evil he created. Perhaps villains really don’t get their happy ending after all and not even the sacrifice of one’s own life will break the Dark Curse. Personally, I think that the death of whoever CREATED the Dark Curse and the dagger, is the only thing that can save Rumple.
As for them going into the “Golden Light”, POM brought up an excellent point. In a recent interview, either Adam or Eddy said that Pan was “frozen” somewhere. Certainly gives rise to suspicions that he may not be dead. If he were frozen away, somewhere on Skull Island, then I can see the light being gold and taking him away.
I can also see it being a nod to OZ and perhaps the “Golden Light” was meant as a clue that Rumple and the dagger were heading there. Especially if, as we all suspect, that the dagger originated there. They did make a point of showing the promo of Zelena walking in the outskirts of SB and the road suddenly turning gold, as in the yellow brick road.
A third possibility is simply that because Rumple spins straw into gold and his name is Gold that a “Golden Light” envelops him. So much room for different theories and interpretations.
Rumple still has too many roads to travel, in helping to reveal & unveil Emma’s story, for there to be any happy ending between him and Belle this early.

Rumple said True Love is the most powerful magic. I think the fact that Emma and Neal haven’t kissed is a bigger deal than the fact that Emma and Hook have.

I like what you’re thinking. Neal needs to stop monkeying around and kiss Emma. I’m going to go ape if he doesn’t soon.
But seriously, with everyone comparing CaptSwan to Snowing all the time, I have to say that Neal being a Winged Monkey makes him the beast and Emma the ‘belle’ whose kiss can free him. Talk about a MAJOR Rumbelle comparison! That makes Neal a CHIP off the old block (not cup 😉 ).
