ParticipantI think it’s still too soon to judge a book by its cover. 😉
We know little about Lily and that story is still to come. She obviously is very strong & determined, so yes, I think all her adversities played a part in that.
As for The Apprentice, perhaps he had to let the past play out between Emma & Lily before he could intervene.
LOST was notorious for its “course corrections” and I think that The Apprentice is merely stepping in, when required, for a course correction. Had to be done with August, as he left Emma alone, and it had to be done with Lily, so the full story could unfold as it was meant to, prior to Isaac tampering with the book.
Yes, I think both The Sorcerer & The Apprentice are aware that she has powers.

ParticipantI believe how we deal with our adversities determines our strength of character. Lily had to go through her’s, just as Emma had to go through her own.
The Apprentice always had the capability of travelling between worlds. We saw this when he sent Ingrid to our world and again when he sent Lily. Door, vortexes and who knows what other methods.
I am assuming he also has the capability of seeing ahead. Obviously it wasn’t Lily’s time to come into the story but he was there watching & preparing her throughout, just as he most likely did with Emma & AWB.

ParticipantAgreed. I also think that the magic of the ink transformed her exterior to more aptly reflect her interior, which is of course, dark & evil.

ParticipantI have to agree with POM. I don’t think they were trying to portray her as a 20 year old. IMHO, I think it was her naivety, in regards to the outside world, and her excitement of finally being free of that attic, is what they were going for.

ParticipantOr, he simply may have met The Apprentice at some point during his life outside of SB. We’ve seen that The Apprentice was capable of opening doors and vortexes to the real world and we’ve never seen hi in SB, yet. He could have very well been out in the real world for a good number of years, following & advising August.
However, I do like the idea of August being the new Sorcerer’s Apprentice. 🙂

ParticipantI completely agree that OUAT can use more POC representation. However, that’s not the subject of this tread. The subject is the whitewashing of the character Lily.
I’m a government employee. Let me assure you, if I ever made the statement to a mother: “she can’t be your daughter because she looks Latina and you look Caucasian,” that I’d be disciplined, if not fired. It’s a racist comment and grounds for discrimination.
Stating that Nicole Munoz can’t play Kristen Bauer van Straten’s daughter because she looks too Latina is no different than the example I mentioned above.
The trouble with the internet is that we feel any subject is ok. I realize that no one means to be saying anything that can come off as being racist, however, the sad reality is that many of the comments made on this thread, as innocent as they may be, certainly are considered to be racist.
1) Assuming that Nicole Munoz is a POC is not ok. That’s racial profiling.
2) Saying that OUAT has whitewashed a character is accusing them of racism. Accusing them, without any background on the actor or facts, is irresponsible and slanderous.
3) Discussing Nicole Munoz’ genetic biology, as it relates to her ethnicity or a role that she is playing, is way out of bounds. If she identifies herself as Canadian what more do we need to know?
I’m not saying this to start an argument. I am merely pointing out that this thread is treading dangerous waters and people need to be aware of what legally defines racism.
I sincerely know that this was no one’s intention but I think we all need to take a step back and really look at what we are saying. It’s not good, Goose.

ParticipantHighly recommend watching it again. It was subtle but Gypsy caught it. I posted about it, here within this group, under the sneak peek spoiler thread for S4x17 along with a screen shot of Robin’s hand being all white.
I’m technically challenged so I’ll just provide the original link to the thread and the screenshot attachment below. Watch the video again, several times throughout it, people in the background and Robin’s hands go to black & white. Almost feels like parallel worlds/realms are colliding.

ParticipantI wouldn’t shut down Watcher’s theory. Certainly is plausible. That sneak peak of Robin & family arriving in NY could certainly lend credence to the theory. There has to be a reason why some portions of it kept flashing from colour to black & white. Was it an editing error; was it a clue that Marian was Zelena as the movie WofOz went from black & white to colour as soon as Dorothy arrived; or, are they trying to tell us that NY & TLWM isn’t all that it seems to be?

ParticipantPersonally, from what I’ve seen of the sneak peeks and the pics, I think they’ve done a great job making Agnes Bruckner look like an adult version of younger Lily. Seems to have the same feisty attitude as well.

ParticipantI’m not going to get into paragraph upon paragraph when the facts are very straightforward.
Nicole Munoz identifies herself as a Caucasian Canadian who is fluent in our two languages, french & English. We don’t get to redefine her based on hypothesis. If she identifies her biology as Caucasian and her ethnicity as Canadian, then who are any of us to question that?
How about we stop looking for problems or issues where there are none.
