It is her name that brings his memory back. He make it that way by himself. In the first episode he says: “Emma what a lovely name.” and goes outside with a smile. This is the second he get his memory back.
As far as I know that’s a theory, and I don’t buy it. Rumpelstiltskin’s memory might be vague in parts, but I think he has squirreled away clues for himself throughout Storybrooke, that’s why is always digging away in the forrest, looking for whatever he has put there that can further his plan. How else would he know saying please to Regina always works. It has taken him 300 years to perfect the curse and 28 yrs to get ready for Emma’s arrival. He’s ready.
That’s not a theory, it’s fact. Kitsis and Horowitz have confirmed many times that Rumple only got his memory back when he heard Emma’s name at Granny’s. He had no memory prior to this nor did he have any magic. That’s why he had the squid ink in his jail cell back in the Enchanted Forest. The more he wrote Emma’s name, the greater the chances he’d remember it once he heard it in Storybrooke.
As for always burying things out in the wood, he was only out there once, when he buried his dagger to keep it out of Regina’s reach. That was well after Emma came to town and his memory returned.
I don’t think we can compare the cane to the dagger because there seems to be continuity errors when displaying the dagger. Last season, in Desperate Souls, we saw two sides of the dagger. One with name spelled hilt to tip and the other side with name spelled tip to hilt. This season, in Broken, when he summons the Wraith, dagger has name hilt to tip and on reversed side no name but ornate decoration.

Now I know what the female version of the outfit Michael Jackson wore in that video looks like. ๐
๐ ๐ Good one obisgirl! ๐ ๐
I hate to admit it but I do so love those earrings! I can remember wearing stuff like that back in the `80`s. Made of metal to boot. Wow, did they ever take a toll on your earlobes. ๐ฎ ๐

ParticipantI`d be happy with any one of the Universal Monsters played by Bela Lugosi, Lon Chaney Sr. & Jr., Boris Karloff, Claude Rains, etc.
I`m a huge classic horror fan so Frankie`s world was such a thrill for me to see. Maybe we`ll even see some Edgar Allan Poe. Gosh, thinking about the roles that Vincent Price, Christopher Lee and Peter Lorre have played throughout the years. Not Universal Monsters but classic horror just the same.
Bring it on K&H because in my backyard, Barbie ran from The Mummy while GI Joe fought to protect her! ๐

ParticipantStill so many gray areas. Hopefully, all will be addressed at some stage of the game. I can only imagine the flowcharts filled with facts that are sitting in those creative offices. How do they ever keep track of everything! Hopefully, now that we know Cora will get her hands on the dagger, we may get a few answers.

ParticipantPersonally, I don’t see it. Sounds were as they should be. That whole opening scene was a direct clue about Neal`s identity. In 1×19 The Return, when we first go to the Enchanted Forest, we see Bae running out in front of a donkey cart. He falls and injures his knee. Rumple than turns the cart driver into a snail and crushes him.
In Broken, we see Neal just as he is exiting Central Park. Only this time, the scene has NealรฉBae crossing in front of a horse and carriage. That whole setting was a clue.
As for the thunder, it was just thunder rumbling in the distance, leading up to the storm that hit just as Neal made it home to the apartment.
In my mind, nothing out of the norm. Just K&H creatively setting the scene and dropping a huge clue as to Neal`s identity.

Personally, I would LOVE to see Ash Williams from the Evil Dead series of movies. Add a little campy humour to the series. “Well hello Mr. Fancypants!” ๐
๐ ๐ Imagine the irony. It’s so funny that you mentioned him since I just watched two clips from the 2nd movie, I think. ‘This is my bookstick!’ and ‘Hail to the King, baby.’ Lots of great one-liners in there.
That’s is so funny obisgirl and you are so right! The movie has the best lines EVER! ๐ It has a HUGE fan following (fans are called Deadites) It’s a trilogy consisting of: The Evil Dead/1981, Evil Dead II: Dead by Dawn/1987 and Army of Darkness/1992. There was even a stage Musical that was hilarious! It still tours, here and there, so if you ever get a chance to see it, do so. You’ll split a gut laughing so hard! Let me know once you’ve seen the movies and we’ll chat a little more. ๐

ParticipantGypsy and I were just chatting about this and the conversation between Gold & AWB in the return where Gold says to AWB:
Gold “this knife cannot harness any magic in this world, because there is no magic in this world.”
AWB: “So why bury a useless knife?”
Gold: “Oh, I wouldnโt say it was useless. It still cuts through flesh rather nicely.”Yet, as you stated Phee, it wielded power with the Wraith.
If the dagger is beginning to hold power due to magic being back, can one would assume that it could be deadly in the hands of someone as powerful as Cora?
Yet, the curse was the curse to end all curses. So, does that mean Rumple’s curse, as the Dark One, is over? While he still has powerful magic, is he no longer the Dark One thus the dagger can’t hurt him, other than a flesh wound? It might even explain why Belle’s kiss doesn’t affect him because he’s already reverted from the Dark One. However, can another Dark One still emerge as the dagger itself holds power?
So many questions. You are right Phee, Certainly hope we do get clarification soon.
