ParticipantAwesome! I’d love to be in touch with another Fables fan (if you end up being a fan, of course). It’s got a small, but devoted fandom- but conversation about the series can be kind of slow so I’m always trying to get people in to it. I’d love to hear your podcast thoughts on it when that comes about!

ParticipantRunaways is a series that I’ve been told is really good. Maybe when I catch up on my reading I’ll check it out.
I read the first few volumes of Grimm Fairy Tales and enjoyed them, but I preferred the story arcs and character development of Fables to the episodic nature of GFT. (That may very well have changed as the series has developed.) The artists for GFT seem to go to a lot of comic book conventions for signings etc.

ParticipantFor anyone wondering- free comic book day yielded some really great finds. There was an issue of a comic that appears to be based on the Grimm TV series and an interesting one called Damsels: Mermaids which seems to be some more adventures with fairy tale characters.

ParticipantI would absolutely love some kind of compendium- maybe something written from the perspective of a character? Although that sometimes brings in the added fun (or frustration) of an unreliable narrator. (An example of that would be the upcoming Adventure Time book from the perspective of Hudson Aberdeen, the demon lord- who isn’t always the most truthful) If that was the case, it would probably have to be from Rumplestiltskin’s perspective, which would be super fun to read- but might not be entirely truthful as far as who was in the right or wrong regarding events. ^_^;;;

ParticipantI also don’t think that the shadow belongs to Bae, although it may have followed him. I think that the shadow is an entity in its own right (there is no body of Peter Pan that it has left) and that our story is basically going to be that Peter Pan was a bad guy, and Hook was actually all right, as far as pirates go. We’re definitely going to end up feeling more sympathetic towards hook by the end of the season.
I may not be accurate (I’m unable to access my episodes at the moment) but did Hook not see Baelfire in the pub when he followed Rumplestiltskin in? It is possible that if he saw him there, he might recognize him a few years later and know that this is Milah’s son. I can see him easily trying to be an adoptive father in that right because he sees Milah’s courage in her. (And, to be honest, he looks a bit more like her than Rumple- same hair, dark eyes etc.) I don’t know if Bae will find out the connection between Milah and Hook, it may be the sort of think that Hook keeps to himself.
(Ugh, and then there is the totally taunting line that Zoso laid on Rumple about Baelfire not being his? I am 99.9% sure he was just trying to get a rise out of Rumplestiltskin so that he would kill him- but I’m sure at this point there are also fans furiously writing fics where it turns out that Hook is actually Bae’s father and Rumple has to deal with the fact that his newly gained family isn’t his after all- well, not by blood at least.)

ParticipantI don’t know. Marion suffered from a poison curse, but they also used magic to get rid of it. Robin used a magical bow and said, “Don’t you just love magic?” Tamara and her organization use science to destroy magic, they seem opposed to using magic at all. Although I guess we have evidence that they will use the magical trigger next episode. I don’t think that Robin and Marion really had a hatred of magic. With so little time left in this season I think we may be left with the unsatisfying feeling of realizing that they weren’t super important in the scheme of things after all.

ParticipantI think you’re right RG. I remember someone posted that it might have been an organization started by the Darling parents to find the Darling children, but it looks like the kids took it in to their own hands. Being a family of means, it’s definitely not out of the realm of possibility. Since they live in England and all of this is taking place in the states, this means it’s an international organization. I’m still holding out for an EPCOT name drop, just because it would make me happy.

ParticipantAugh! I am really excited to learn a little more about these awesome people I’m spending my (virtual) time with. ^_^
So, right, I’m Cat! Oh wait, hold on.
HOWDY YA’LL. I’M CAT.
Yeah, I’m from Texas, originally from Dallas, currently a resident of Austin. I’ve lived in St. Louis and Bloomington, Indiana for a while as well (and people always seem to think I’m from Alaska… but that’s another story…) I’m also married but we have no cute animals, well, not live ones anyway. We have a growing collection of adorable (often Japanese) plush animals in our apartment- most of whom get used as pillows.
I guess I’m one of those nerds with a penchant for Japanese pop culture, although I am a bit out of the loop when it comes to current anime etc. I was a big fan when I was in high school (over ten years ago) but it was a bit harder to come by. These young whippersnappers and their live streams don’t know what it’s like to pay 12 for a VHS tape and then wait for it to come in the mail so you can see four episodes of fan subbed Sailor Moon. ^_^
I spend a lot of my free time working on projects and events related to my local Lolita fashion community. There are about 130 ladies (well, and a few gentlemen) in our Facebook group and we get together every few weeks to show off our rad outfits and take photos and eat because goodness can we eat. (For those of you who might not know what Lolita is, because I know it’s a peculiar subculture here’s a link to one of my latest acquisitions- mermaids!!!: http://baby-aatp.blogspot.com/2013/04/jewelry-box-mermaid.html) But yeah, a lot of my time (and money T_T) end up going towards this one way or another. I do things like run contests for my local community and every once in a while we put together a zine with photos and articles written by members of our group. It’s a lot of fun and I’m lucky to have a great group of girls. I’ve made a ton of friends (and actually got my current job) from the lolita comm, which is a wonderful surprise.
Current job- I’m a cook! I got my culinary degree from Le Cordon Bleu a few years ago. I’ve done the fine dining scene but now I work in a much more laid back environment at a food co-op. So this means a lot of big batch cooking, catering, alternative diet items. Lots of kale. Lots of tofu. LOTS of tofu… I work with some totally rad and hilarious people. One of the things I love about my job is that even though I have never gotten the impression from anyone that “this is just a job, this is what I do to pay the bills”, everyone there also has their outside passion that they devote time and love to. One of my coworkers put it thusly: “I mean we all have our passions, I have my music, you have your bikes, Cat has her… kawaii empire…” Much laughing at that.
I originally went to school to study painting (and printmaking) and soon realized that I didn’t have the temperament to make it in that sort of world and that I would probably grow to hate art if I actually had to do it for a living. So for me, art is just one of those things I do for enjoyment, whether it’s drawing or making hand printed bookmarks. I get kinda crafty sometimes, I’m always trying out something new. (I’m actually waiting on a few supplies to get in because I have some OUAT ideas for some pieces, I’ll share those as they’re complete.)
Other things I love? Well video games (especially music rhythm games and Pokemon!) and cosplay. I like the occasional zombie flick (although I’m not in to most western horror movies) and I love comics. Nightcrawler (yeah, from the X-men) has been my hero since I was about 12- hence the username. (Stupid Dane Cooke ruined my username, but I’m not changing it!) I have an alarmingly large collection of “buddy pics” of Nightcrawler and Hellboy that I’ve commissioned from various artists at anime and comic book conventions. Too many to put on my walls. ~_~;; I also enjoy Doctor Who (RG, is there anything better than a Scottish guy in a tailored 3-piece suit?) but I’m woefully behind. (For no reason other than I was too sad to say goodbye to 10 and then just got distracted by things like Adventure Time) I’m also a Star Trek fan, mostly of TNG and DS9 so yeah, I can tick that off my nerd-cred card. :3
But um, yep! That’s me. That’s probably more than anyone wanted to know- but too bad. ^_^
