I like the idea of Rumple landing in Oz … and even being the Wizard analog. I mean, who was the Wizard? A man without magic (like post-Dark-One Rumple would be) who nonetheless manages to convince a land he has stupendous magic through sheer cleverness and cunning. All the time searching for a way home.
Rumple could do that if anyone could.

-- Dylan ThomastheoniongirlParticipantApparently I dream in mash-ups.
Had one last night in which it was essentially the scene in “Return of the Jedi” when you see the bounty hunter (Boussh? I think) sneaking into the throne room at night in Jabba the Hutt’s palace. In the movie, the bounty hunter lets Han Solo out of the carbonite in which he’s frozen on the wall. Han is disoriented and blind and all “Huh? What’s going on? Who are you?” and the bounty hunter says … “Someone who loves you.” She takes off the helmet, it’s Princess Leia and she kisses him. 🙂
Except in my dream it was Belle rescuing Rumple. Not sure how Jabba fit into the equation. 😀

Neal’s on a mission. And I’m not going to bet against him.

-- Dylan ThomastheoniongirlParticipantAgree with that completely.
I got an interesting vibe from Neal in this episode. I can’t quantify it, but it was almost like he already had a plan. Might take him a bit, but he was going to see them again. He didn’t even doubt it. Or Emma. (I’d expect nothing less; Neal’s nothing if not resourceful. How many worlds did he adapt to living in? Can’t have been easy, ever.)
And oddly, I think it applies to his father too. For some bizarre reason, I think he might have an inkling that what happened to Rumple isn’t what it appears. And he’s going to find him, too.

-- Dylan ThomastheoniongirlParticipantI’m still confused, to be honest. Did we ever get a reason that Rumple needed to stab himself as well as Pan/Malcolm? Did I miss it? Once I came down a bit from the “ARGH” reaction, I just can’t get past this. It didn’t make sense.
Also … did the golden light when Malcolm and Rumple disappeared make anyone else think of the light at the end of the Disney Beauty & The Beast … when the Beast turns human again? 🙂

-- Dylan ThomastheoniongirlParticipantHrm. Maybe there is a way he could sacrifice his own heart. Don’t know. I’ll admit, I forgot it took a heart and not just a death.

-- Dylan ThomastheoniongirlParticipantConfession: Only got to see the last 10-15 minutes of the episodes due to … stuff. 😛
But I don’t think Pan feels that strongly about Felix. Either he’ll have to try to take Rumple’s heart (which I doubt) … or, more likely, the curse will be linked to Pan’s death … because Pan doesn’t love anyone else nearly as much as he loves himself.
They’ve taken extreme pains to show that. Now perhaps we know why.

-- Dylan ThomastheoniongirlParticipantSaw it today with my 5-year-old son. We loved it! The songs screamed “Broadway!” to me … back it’s a musical within a few years. 🙂
One note: They really turned a lot of the usual Disney-&-fairy-tale tropes on their heads. My son had a few odd moments with that. What he expected to happen, just didn’t! But he’s a bright kid and it made him think. I liked that.

But was the Charming thing really solved? I mean, Rumple said, sure, I’ll make a potion. That doesn’t mean he’ll do it or be in a position to do it.
Sudden thought after reading this: What if Baby Snowing is on the way and was conceived on the island? (Not that they, err, had the time or a privacy, but you never know. 😉 ) And has enough of the spirit of the island, as it were, to keep Charming going if he simply stays with his family. (And some drama, because how exactly would that affect the kid?)
Full of holes, but it would be a surprising way to handle it. 🙂
“It’s less about a crazy twist than an emotional journey that we started between Charming and his family.”

-- Dylan ThomastheoniongirlParticipantOh, I know. It’s just … it’s almost easier to believe in the supernatural evil than the human one, you know?
I was just thinking back through the series and Rumble’s actions as a father … and now, oh my, his actions in leaving the war when he finds he’s to have a child make all too much sense. Especially to Rumple, to abandon a child must be the most awful thing anyone can do.
Even himself.
