13 and the Grim reaper – It was Bae’s 14th birthday when Rumple became the Dark One, wasn’t it? So life as he knew it ended at 13.
Oh, oh, OH! After watching Disney’s “Peter Pan” with my boys for the first time in probably decades, I went and looked up some of the backstory on J.M. Barrie. Apparently, he based Peter Pan on his older brother …
… “who died in an ice-skating accident the day before he turned 14, and thus always stayed a young boy in his mother’s mind” …
😀 Interesting.

-- Dylan ThomastheoniongirlParticipantI think I posted this, but apparently was mistaken. I was just taking a look at the Untold Stories on Facebook. Dr. Whale, according to Archie’s notes, “frames himself as victor in all conflicts.”
And Dr. Frankenstein’s first name is … 😀

-- Dylan ThomastheoniongirlParticipantJust pointed this out in another thread:
I couldn’t really get behind the idea of Whale as Dr. Frankenstein. It just didn’t seem to fit in with the fairy tale theme. But then I was considering the Disney connection … and the movie called “The Nightmare Before Christmas.” In which there is a mad scienticist character called Dr. Finklestein.
The entry for the latter character in Wikipedia has the following line: “James Whale’s Frankenstein is quoted in Finklestein’s line ‘I made you with my own hands,’ which is ironic as Finklestein’s body appears to be largely if not entirely artificial.”
Huh. 😉

I couldn’t really get behind the idea of Whale as Dr. Frankenstein. It just didn’t seem to fit in with, you know, fairy tales. 😉 But then I was mulling over the various other places they’ve gone with the theme … various Disney references that aren’t, necessarily, fairy tales …
And there’s a Disney movie called “The Nightmare Before Christmas.” Where Dr. Frank wouldn’t, necessarily, have been out of place …
It’s been a long time since I’ve seen it, but it made me rethink my whole aversion to Dr. Whale as Dr. Frank. Or perhaps Dr. Finklestein? 😆

-- Dylan ThomastheoniongirlParticipantGiven that Mr. Gold and Belle were out in the woods by themselves when Emma broke the curse, do you think he knew? He already remembered, and he might have taken Belle suddenly remembering as a fluke. (Especially since she’d just been reunited with him …)
I was thinking that if he knew the curse was broken, perhaps he wouldn’t have dumped the potion in the well. I mean, he was about ready to take off from SB last week, banking on the curse being broken in one way or another, so why completely change his goal?
Or did he realize what had happened, and maybe it changed what he went out there to do?
Something’s … off. I mean, he was ready to give up everything for Baelfire a few weeks ago. What changed? Hmm.
Maybe he thought the potion would let him leave SB to look for Bael, but when Belle showed, he realized (1) what Regina had done and (2) Belle couldn’t leave. Hence, the purple cloud … a full-on declaration of war against Regina, in a way. (But why, then, did she look so darned pleased with it?)
Still just thinking it out. 😀

I’m intrigued by the idea of the curse blacklashing on Regina. I know some have speculated on the season ending with some characters trapped in FTL … can you imagine if it was Emma AND Regina? And they had to figure out how to work together?
No real reason to think that would happen. I just like the idea. 🙂
