I did too, for the same reason. Had a weird thought … What if Zelena actually recruits HENRY because he thinks he’ll be able to meet his father if she succeeds?
They HAD to know how we would react to this. Man. Either they’re trolling so hard it’s downright MEAN or …

Ugh.

-- Dylan ThomastheoniongirlParticipantWho wrote the fic “Over The Rainbow” something like 20 pages back? It’s been sitting tabbed in my browser for days and I only just got to it. PLEASE PLEASE continue! Or post it somewhere where I can follow it! I’m really interested to see where the story goes from there!
Awww, thanks. That was me.
It was only intended to be a vignette plopped right down at the end of the season. (Obviously extrapolating a heck of a lot around it. 😉 ) I had to work some things out. And it occurred to me that would have been a great way for the writers to explore the “horrible things” that would have happened had Emma and Neal stayed together.
That said, I might continue it sometime. I haven’t written fiction of any sort in years. (I write for a living; great, but it means I don’t have a lot in me to do it after I get home.) Fanfic’ers, where’s the best place to post these days?

-- Dylan ThomastheoniongirlParticipantOh, I agree. I don’t like the route they took at all.
But I did find that line from the Bros. Grim story interesting.
And if this storyline ends with a Rumple free & clear of the Dark One curse, I will at least derive some small sense of satisfaction from that. Small, tiny even, but there.

-- Dylan ThomastheoniongirlParticipantI still think they might be playing a fast one on us. I am likely to be deluding myself. *sigh*
I do think it’s possible they might try to make Neal’s death “mean something” by having it be the first step toward the final breaking of the Dark One curse. Even is Rumple wasn’t fully inclined to take that step before, he sure as h*ll is now.
This might sound ridiculous, but when I was at a children’s museum with my boys today, I was reading some of the exhibits in their fairy tale area. And it pointed out something I’d forgotten: In the 1857 Brothers Grimm Rumpelstintskin tale, in the end, the character “in his rage drove his right foot so far into the ground that it sank in up to his waist; then in a passion he seized the left foot with both hands and tore himself in two.”
Huh.
Maybe I’m just crazy to have Neal’s death mean something. But I wonder if it’s FINALLY the beginning of the end for Dark One Rumple. Every bit of that brilliant mind will be dedicated to bringing Zelena DOWN.

-- Dylan ThomastheoniongirlParticipantI had a dream last night about OUAT. They figured out Zelena had a ahold of Henry’s old storybook and was ripping out pages and rewriting it; that’s why Neal had such an abrupt and OOC death and other weird stuff was happening. 😀
Given that Neal wasn’t even in the book and the book mirrors “reality” and not vice versa, that’s typical dream (il)logic … but it makes as much sense as anything else I’ve heard. *eyeroll*

-- Dylan ThomastheoniongirlParticipantI also wanted to say thanks for doing the podcast, RG. I couldn’t have done it. But I’m glad someone from here could. 🙂
I’m also irritated about feeling like I’m not able to express my feelings outside of this thread, but … in a way … I understand. I mean, think about how we’re feeling — like something we really cared about (not even SF in this case, but the show itself) has been ripped away, ruined for us.
It’s easier for people to think “Oh, there’s a good reason for this!” than believe that something they love has gone off the rails. The only reason the folks in here won’t, can’t do that is that the thing that went wrong is intrinsically tied to our enjoyment of the show. We just can’t explain that away.
If that makes any sense.

-- Dylan ThomastheoniongirlParticipantSome of the pictures in the promo thread have me wondering if I’m on to something with the “silver-slippers-can-rewrite-reality” thing. If Zelena does something to flip-flop royalty and peasantry around …
(Hmm. Wonder why Hook … well, that’s another story …)
At any rate, I’m putting this out there. Please be kind. I haven’t written any sort of fiction in a very long time and this was written very quickly over the course of a few hours as catharsis of sorts. (I’m surprised to say it really did help.)
It’s a vignette of sorts from what I would consider the very end of the third season. I had to extrapolate a lot, obviously, with no explanation. It’s not meant to be a full story.
It’s not my best work, but I hope you enjoy it.
