As far as we know, the only child who had paid a price for Rumplestiltskin magic was his own son; One of the Dark One’s first actions was bringing children back from the ogre wars, and although he has traffic children, we learnt that he found a good place for them to grow up in, as in the case of Charming brother, and there are the parents who “pay the price”.
So I don’t think there is a reason behind his paternal attitude towards Henry. Not in the bad sense -like a hidden intention, as.. i don’t know, use him for his own pourposes- neither a good one -being his grandson. (even if Henry were, Mr. Gold can’t know it) –
It is probably just that he is fond of children. He was even before being cursed, and probably losing his son increases this part of his personality.[adrotate group="5"]November 12, 2012 at 7:21 am in reply to: CHILD OF THE MOON- – FAVORITE AND LEAST FAVORITE MOMENTS — #160365thetricksterParticipant@Gaultheria wrote:

I really hope Rumpel isn’t recruiting a new apprentice, but it looks like he’s following his old pattern.
I think it is just that Rumplestiltskin is fond of children, and Henry has sort of “magic” inside -born from Emma, blablabla, you know-. But if Henry turns to be Rumpletiltskin’s new apprentice, it’s ok to me; the child has no reason to become evil, there is a need of “white magic” apart from Blue Fairy’s one, now that Cora wants to come to our world.
But as I said, I don’t think so. It was more like the hero getting an amulet from the old wizard. You know, as Sigrud got the magic ring from the evil dwarf wizard before go to kill Fafnir and rescue the “sleeping beauty” that was Brinhild from her punishment -that was sleeping into a circle of flames until a hero could arrive til her.
I can’t say why, but that story came to me while watching those scenes -nightmare, the magician asistance and the final escene of the child controling his acts in the dream-. I’m not theorizing anything XDD just reminds me that sort of tale.thetricksterParticipantI think it refers to relationships between characters from a book, tv series, film, etc… that fans create or/and follow. It usually refers to pairing characters as couple, no matter their genre or if they are or not couple in the cannon story, but it can also be a relationship of friendship, family ties… and lots of “what if…?” as arguments.
The word comes from the last part of “relationship”, and was first attested with this meaning back in the 70’s, when Star Treck fans wanted to see together some of their favorite characters, but it was used more frequently since the 90’s, when all the fans of “The X files” wanted Mulder and Scully being a couple.
It was first r’ship, and then ship,. and the couples the fans follow are usually known by a name created by a mixture of the two shipped characters name, as our OUaT cannon couple “Rumbelle” or the non-cannon one “SwanFire”. By extension, the fans who follow those couples are known also as, to follow with the same examples, “rumberllers” or SwanFirers”.And I think I’m shuting up here, because this is the sort of thing that makes me think as a linguist, and I could finnish writing a paper on the origin and development of the shipping đ
thetricksterParticipantProbably. She is a reader after all, and even if it is not a “proper” gift, it is actually the sort of wisdom that written words give according to popular knowledge. We find this idea constantly in Shakespeare and afterward in the Romantics.
The idea works for me ^^thetricksterParticipantI hate zombies. I hate Resident Evil, Walking Dead and all that sort of stuff since I was a child and watched to much bad films from the 80’s with my elder brother, but I’m really looking forward see them! really! They do not seem like Resident Evil zombies, who go around eating brains. They are more a “sending type” of undeads. Cora’s mindless warriors, she is a villain, she needs an army and I’m pretty sure no living being would like to join her cause.
So I really want to see how Emma &cĂa. face them and see what happens. đ

I love the discovery in the mines, the atmosphere of the flashbacks, especially when coming to the werewolves pack, the development of Ruby’s perception of her nature as a wolf in our world… I really liked to see the background of Ruby, everything she had to do until she started to accept her own nature… great episode.
Oh, well, I’m really hooked to the storyline of the dream, the space between worlds, life and death… really like it. That Rumplestiltskin in a “Merlin like” mood was also nice to see, and the way in which Henry learns to use the talisman, quickly, with no help… honestly, the moment in which Henry is in the room talking to Aurora as Sigfrig did to Brunhild has been the first time I really like Henry as character, and not think on him just as “the child who knew”. XDD
Less favorite moments: King George’s ones. I don’t know why, but I percieve him and his attempts to take revenge of Charming more cruel than reasonable. Well, that is not exactly what I mean, but it is difficult to explain. :S I really wanted David shooting him.
thetricksterParticipantI’m curious… do they say that Belle’s father was in the military? We see him discussing estrategies, but he was a king, ruling the army movements during a war comes with the job. Apart from that I wouldn’t expect, from what it’s shown, that he were more engaged in that… did I miss something? -it can be đł –
Being part of Mulan story could be interesting, but in his late 20’s… is it not to young to be her father? maybe a brother or something…
Regarding the ironic of Bae becoming a soldier, well… here, there is a saying that goes: “if you want your son to study law, make him believe you hate lawyers”.

Yes ! and it probably isn’t someone who’s story, in the book, is depicted in a bad way or at all. It would make sence if it was Blue fairy writing the stories and showing herself in a good light.
If so… there are things that can be manipulated!!! Like the reasons behind Blue Fairy decision to make Dreamy and Nova break up, to turn Pinoccio into a real boy, to help Bealfire… so many things… OMG! I’ve never truts fairies too much, but seeing it under this new light, lots of things make more sense.
thetricksterParticipantI actually thought it when i read that. Neal is the only person who has a real reason to go and stay in Storybrooke.
If you don’t stay there, you can go, spend a couple of weeks, visit the port, and enjoy Granny’s hot chocolate without noticing anything especial. One could maybe percieve something odd, but would probably forget soon about it, since no one would even think about curses and fairytales.
Unless you get trap in something, like… It would be nice if the curse in the boundaries works in the opposite way, and if a person from our world crosses it, that person creates FairytaleLand memories. đ
thetricksterParticipantI like the idea of the Sandman in the FairyTale universe. Even while gods are not part of fairy tale universe, remember Andersen’s character Ole Lukoie (I don’t know how the name of the character is in English. Maybe Ole close-your-eyes or something like that? in Spanish, “pegaojos” :S :S). His scope was more or less the same and is a fairy tale character.
Regarding the Queen of Hearts… maybe Cora or one of her allies? I think there is still lots of thinks to learn about Wonderland and its inhabitans -at least I hope so-
