Ring guess: Belonged to the Sea Captain we got a casting calling for. Liam took the ring off the Captain after he and Hook overthrew the Captain who was not a good captain (very “Bounty”). Liam gave Hook the ring at some point as a symbol that Hook would be captain someday. At some point the Brothers learned that the ring was enchanted by a (surprise!) Hades to keep the wearer alive.

Yeah, I was thinking the same, they could always have a ball of light appear to deliver a mind message or something, or just have MRJ do a voice over type thing, that way, he’d only have to be in a studio somewhere in the world and ship the audio over. Or who knows, perhaps Neal was recasted.

They referred to Ursula as a goddess multiple times though.

I guess they could go the whole “adopted” route but…man does that mess with Greek mythology.
Well the gods can take on forms they want, so perhaps that was just his chosen form, and it was a different race than the one chosen by his brothers. Like on Angel, Jasmine was born of Connor and Cordelia, both white, but her race was black when she was born. What Jasmine really looked like:

Anyway, Gods often don’t really look like…anything, other than light and perhaps some scary abomination. I can buy that’s the case with the greek gods. I mean didn’t Zeus turn into rain and get someone pregnant? Weirder things have occurred >_>
The bigger issue for me is, is it only the greek gods that exist and govern the lands? Or are there more? If they aren’t really gods and can be replaced (like the author and the sorcerer) then I guess that makes it more believable. Their god-like magic is just really powerful magic. I won’t be surprised if as the Uber-Dark One, Rump becomes the new god of death.
