Well dies being the Dark One automatically make one a villain? And even so, Isaac still has the quill and the ability to alter the story so maybe ike Rumpel, he’d try to have his cake (all the powers of the dark one) and eat it too (having a happy ending).

I forget their name. Kat-something. But according to them whoever becomes the new dark one will do so without killing Rumpel. So use that information as you all will. The way I figure it (based on Cora said abd what we know has been filmed with the dagger): Rumpel dies. The magic of the dagger evaporates into the air and starts sucking away all The light and hope (which was apparently said by Emma or Regina) so Emma takes the dagger, holds it up. And sucks in all the darkness into the dagger and therefore into herself. She becomes the new dark one. Calling it now.
