Emma Swan the Sookie Stackhouse of Storybrooke. Good Lord I can use Pam famous line right now. 
(I tried to block this out for the language but I forgot how to do spoilers but anyway >>) For those who don’t get the reference, Sookie is the main character in another of my favorite shows, True Blood (Which MRJ was also in :P) Sookie has had quite a gracious plenty of men throughout the series. Its worse in the books where she has had woopie with atleast one or two more guys then in the series. Possibly more since I haven’t read the latest books. As for the famous Pam line… (and yes. That is OUAT’s Maleficent)…

I’d consider it a trade. Itd only be a sacrifice if he did it in an instance where he got nothing out of it as in to save the town or the citizens of the enchanted land. Hook got Emma out of trading his ship and if he was sure he wasn’t going to get her, I dont think he’d have done it. He didn’t trade it to win her favor. He traded it just to be able to get back to her and that reason ALONE. Its not heroic. Its not a sacrifice. He saw an oppurtunity to get something he wanted and he took it.
However, on the other hand, Hook didn’t know how Emma would feel about him

To other people it may be meaningless but to Hook it means so much more. The JR to Hook is the chipped cup to RumBelle, the yellow bug to Emma, the book to Henry. the swan keychain to SwanFire. The JR holds great sentimental value for Hook
Yes, but what would be the big deal if Rump gave up the cup for Belle? If Henry gave up the book for his family? If Neal gave up the keychain for Emma? Sure it has sentimental value but compared to the actual person it means nothing. If i were married, I’d give up my ring to save my husband without a second thought. The fact that he traded it to save Emma isn’t that special. Its what any normal person would do and what should be expected. I honestly can’t imagine someone not giving up a material possession for someone they cared about.
Now if Hook had given up the ship to save people other than Emma or the citizens of the EF then I would see what the fuss is about. That’s an act of selfless heroism right there.
