Does she wear a crown at all in the stage version? Like, does she have one before she gets banished and it’s dramatically taken from her or anything like that? I noticed there’s mention of her wanting the crown in that song.

There was an early version of the stage version I saw where she takes Triton’s crown when SHE banishes HIM. But not anymore In the more recent ones. Her hair is much to crazy for it anyway 🙂

But she’s meant to be evil. And Eric isn’t evil. Of course, she’s not supposed to be nice enough to actually grant mermaids the use of legs on an annual basis. In this version, Ursula is King Triton’s sister. As revealed in the lyrics of Ursula’s song “I Want the Good Times Back”, when their father died, the pair were given equal share of the sea plus two magical items. Triton received the trident while Ursula received the magic Nautilus shell. Though the two were to rule the seas together, Ursula’s greed and use of dark magic to usurp Triton led to her being banished. Her need for revenge is her motivation for the show.

I LOVE THE STAGE VERISON. But people have worshipped evil dieties before. They may not see her as such. For all we know she makes their fishing successsful and creates smooth sailing. In the Broadway version, Ursula used her power to create a high wave to keep Eric from Ariel. She is probably very powerful in this version too.

Also, I’m curious as to why Anastasia wanted to leave the Enchanted Forest to go to Wonderland of all places. I mean that place would be too unserious for me to make a living in. I’d much prefer Oz. But anyway, I think she was going there for a specific reason or person, got there and found out the person is dead or something and when knave found out she was wanting someone else he tried to leave her and she stole his heart.
