It just implies that they come back as zombies or like those people from Pet Semetary… Its them.. Just not “them”.

In the movies, didn’t the laugh go through pixie dust before it became a fairy? Maybe the boy laugh goes into the mines where it matures into an egg and then later hatches a dwarf… I wonder if dwarfs are considered mammals
Also, genies can be male fairies. They both shrink down and grow big. But fairies originating from NL and djinn from Agrabah could be a point that sets that theory back.
