It looks like Regina and Zelena do a thing to Snows heart so I guess they duplicated it? Because Zelena is putting a heart into someone (Charming?) and Regina is putting a full heart into Snow. So..okay.

She can leave for brief periods, apparently.
How did Gideon leave the realm with Emma still alive?
Well the only person who is banished is Black Fairy. Ifs he can leave/open portals for brief periods, I’m sure she just pushed him through one. If she tried to leave for a long period, she probably just poof back after awhile, but Gideon isn’t bound by any magic to remain there forever as far as we know.
I don’t get how killing Emma unlocks a realm.
I’m assuming its extremely powerful magic that binds her to the realm, magic more powerful than any she has. Since Emma is the savior/true love incarnate, her magic can undo all curses and all that jazz, so if she can channel Emma’s magic she can set herself free. That ofcourse makes me wonder if Emma can just open portals to wherever she wants and she set her mind to it. Merlin could do it afterall. Don’t see why Emma cant.

The Shadow should still be there. It was there before Pan was…de-aged, I don’t see why it would be there when hes dead. The Shadow wasn’t the same as Pan’s actual, personal shadow (they had different eye colors and different builds, one could talk, etc). So Pan’s shadow should be dead along with him. But the Shadow of Neverland should still be…doing whatever its doing. It seemed malicious but didn’t ever actually do anything beyond de-aging Malcom/Pan and allowing all that occurred by Pan’s will. But I guess that’s just another loose thread of this show.

I’d forgotten about Ariel and Poseidon (although you would think gods would be able to create their own portals to traverse realms).
Right? Zeus can bring people back from the day, you mean to tell me his brother can’t go where he wants. And Poseidon is the father of all merpeople (in mythology right) so why doesn’t he have the power to world hop.

I think mermaids can traverse realms somehow, but they can’t take people with them.
Both have been said. Rumpel has said that mermaids can travel between realms in S3, but Poseidon states that Ariel found him and “brought him through a portal” in S4. Which is weird because I believe in season 3 it also was stated that mermaids couldn’t bring people with them when they traveled realms.
So…once upon a continuity errors.
EDIT: I just checked the wiki. It says they can open portals and travel between realms, but cant take people with them through portals. But again, Ariel did it. The writers just don’t care. Rump could have threatened a mermaid or two back in his day to open a portal for him, but ran afoul of the REAL sea witch who told him to back off so he stopped.
