“I’m sick of waffles” said Henry. “We’ve had waffles every day this week. I’ll just have toast.”
“No! You need something more nutritious. Like, um…” Emma looked around desperately, then leaned over to open the freezer. “Like ice cream! Have some ice cream.”
As she reached for the ice cream, Henry squeezed behind her. “Mom, why does the toaster have feet?”

And are you sure? I thought Henry’s book was fairly truthful to what happened since he knows so much from it that aren’t in the classic tales (Like how he knows about Regina casting the curse, Rumpel being able to see the future, etc)
Yes, In the Hansel and Gretel episode, “True North”, when Emma asks what the book says about Hansel & Gretel’s father, Henry replies, “Just that he abandoned them.” So it seems there are some things missing from the book. We also know Pinocchio’s story wasn’t originally in the book until August added it in Storybrooke. So the book appears to be a very good guide but with a few key pieces missing. I’m hoping we eventually find out why!

This doesn’t confirm to me that the time runs parallel. It just says that a chunk of time that lasted the same amount of time was frozen in both worlds. I put that down to the two lands being tied together because they’re on opposite ends of the curse, but don’t think it indicates that FTL and SB exist side by side on the timeline. I still think they all jumped forward a couple 100 years or so when they came here.
Good point. The two realms might be connected in such a way that there is always a constant offset between them. In that case, Henry couldn’t be Peter Pan so it might be Bae after all. Which would mean Daniel wouldn’t get any cream in his coffee!

You’re probably right about that because didn’t Neal say something to that effect in “The Queen is Dead” to Emma when Hook showed up in Manhattan to kill Gold? If he hadn’t made a pit stop or something in Neverland before coming to our world, he would have been decades older.
“A couple of hundred years older”, actually. But that could fit either interpretation since Bae left Rumple and went through the portal hundreds of years before the time of Snow, Charming, et al. Hopefully, we won’t have to wait too much longer to find out!
timespacerParticipantCount me in agreement with those who dislike the negativity. I sometimes listen to a few of the other podcasts but this is pretty much the only site that has a forum I read regularly. That’s because I quickly discovered that the fans here are generally more tolerant and respectful toward each other and toward the show’s creators, than what I saw on many other sites (Pause for a moment and give yourselves a pat on the back!). For example, I’ve personally never understood the appeal of “shipping” (I only recently learned the term) and don’t care to engage in it myself, but if other folks enjoy it, good for them. The various shippers seem to coexist here in reasonable harmony. To use one of my favorite Thomas Jefferson quotes, “It neither picks my pocket nor breaks my leg.” For the most part, fans here are willing to accept other points of view and share their disagreements in a mature and respectful way. It’s quite a relief from some other sites.
I agree that the people who are the most rude are just a very small but loud minority and I hope Eddy and Adam realize that and don’t pay them much attention. We all find some aspects of the show that we like or dislike, and it’s fine to engage in discussions of the “I really liked X but not Y …” sort and it’s interesting to see how different peoples’ reactions can be. But it’s really annoying to read comments by people who are so obsessed with one or two characters that they think they can dictate to the writers how that character should be treated. I loved the photo posted earlier of Kitsis (or was it Horowitz?) with the award and the caption “When you get one of these, then you can tell me how to write my show”! Somebody should send that to Kitsis and Horowitz!
Like several other posters said, I want to see the story Adam and Eddy want to tell, not something dictated by a few rude people on the internet. It might not be the story I would write if they were to ask for my input, but in the end it will probably be a better story than anything I could come up with.

I still don’t see how the timing would work, because Henry was very definitely born in our word 11 years ago, roughly 100 years after our world heard the story of Peter Pan. If he is still yet to become Pan, we never should have heard of Pan before, because he doesn’t exist yet.
That’s what I thought back in Season One, but we now know the same thing is true for all of the characters with Fairy Tale identities. We saw in “Broken” that time was frozen in the Enchanted Forest for the same 28 years that it was frozen in Storybrooke. So unlike the real world in which there is no such thing as “absolute time” (see side note below if you are curious), Storybrooke and the Enchanted Forest measure the same time intervals. Regina enacted the curse 29 years ago so she and many of the other characters (Snow , Charming, Red…) were probably born roughly 30 years before that, meaning many of our key characters weren’t born until about 60 years ago (roughly around 1950) but their stories existed in our world hundreds of years before that. So we heard of Snow White more than a hundred years before she was born. How will they explain that? I don’t know. Since it is a fantasy, they might not even try. I like to think perhaps the writings in our world somehow cause events in the other worlds which lead to the fictional characters and events eventually coming into being there at a later time (although not as exact copies of our world’s version of the characters). We’ve also seen that our characters can manipulate time since the curse caused time to be frozen in Storybrooke for 28 years. Hence, the Snow White of OUAT wasn’t born until sometime around 1950, even though the story of Snow White was published by the Brothers Grimm in 1837.
Since Snow and the others were born more than a hundred years after their stories were written in our world, I think Henry could also have been born a hundred years after his story was written. I don’t mind if a fantasy violates the physical laws of our world so long as they remain internally consistent. I’m happy to see them introduce fairies, dragons, and magic so long as that magic follows a consistent set of rules and doesn’t contradict itself. But contradicting reality is OK in my book.
(Side note on the real-world nature of time: General Relativity shows us that time is a local phenomenon, and observers moving relative to each other, or in different gravitational fields, may measure time very differently. Thousands of years might elapse for one observer while another would measure only moments. But this does not seem to apply in the fictional universe of OUAT where they seem to imply that there is a link between time in our world and time in Fairy Tale Land.)
timespacerParticipantAfter listening to the podcast, I agree! I don’t know why I didn’t see all the obvious parallels earlier. I’ve believed for a long time that Henry might run away to Neverland but I didn’t really consider him being Peter Pan because I’ve suspected Baelfire might be Peter Pan ever since we saw him fall through the beanhole in “The Return”. But you are right that Henry is a much better fit to the story. It’s looking more and more like Daniel will get to have cream in his coffee! (i.e. Bae has been to Neverland but he is not Peter Pan.)
I think part of the reason I didn’t initially consider Henry as a candidate for Peter Pan is that back in Season One, I was assuming that all the Fairy Tale Land stories took place in a different universe and a much earlier time, so that the stories somehow made their way to our world long after they had happened. Hence, Henry couldn’t be Peter Pan since he was born in our world eleven years ago and Peter Pan was written in 1904. But now we have seen that time and space are not really barriers between our world and the many fictional worlds. We’ve seen that the time at which Regina enacted The Dark Curse in the Enchanted Forest was synchronized with time in our world so most of the events in the flashbacks took place just a few decades ago, while many of the stories were first written in our world centuries ago (the original story of Cinderella goes back to an origin some 2500 years ago.) So it is perfectly consistent with what we have already seen that Henry might become Peter Pan in the future.
Since OUAT is a fantasy, not sf, I assume they will never dig too deeply into exactly how the different worlds are connected in time. But I find myself wishing for a sf spinoff of OUAT that would address that question! I’d love to see a description of how ideas from our past are communicated to other universes and influence events and characters there. There is after all, enough “wiggle room” in the non-local nature of quantum mechanics to allow lots of creative approaches to this question . One of my favorite descriptions of a similar process is in Neal Stephenson’s novel, Anathem.

The other day I had a dream about army tanks surrounding STORYBROOKE… I woke up to see jeeps & tanks going down our road from the National Guard unit going on maneuvers… gave me a start. That must have been quite an experience! There’s a thread over in the General Discussion section discussing OUAT dreams. It’s at:

timespacerParticipantClever point about the Army War College. And I definitely agree that Tamara must have some large organization (whether private or government) backing her in order to perform the kinds of tests she described and to produce techno-toys like the one she wielded against August and The Dragon. Such activities would be way outside the role of the Army War College itself, but Greg might have some indirect affiliation. While most of their students are active-duty military, they do have a small fraction of civilian students from other organizations like the State Department and the NSA. They also host a lot of conferences and symposia which bring in all kinds of experts in various fields. Greg could be either a student or a visiting academic.
Demileto, you are right that the CIA is a civilian agency and is restricted by U.S. law to dealing with foreign affairs so it’s unlikely Greg would have a CIA connection. Also, CIA headquarters is in Virginia, not Pennsylvania. If he’s with the government, I would guess Greg is with the FBI or more likely some super-secret fictional agency. I just had a crazy idea! In “Welcome to Storybrooke”, Owen’s dad told him to call his uncle after he escaped from Storybrooke. Maybe Owen/Greg is the Man From U.N.C.L.E.! (I heard someone is preparing a remake of that show.) I’d love to see a cameo by Robert Vaugn or David McCallum!

i wonder, after watching the preview pics of Lacey, why does he finds so difficult to forgive Regina and start slowly a friendly relationship with her, while at the same time, he finds so easy to forgive Mr. Gold??
Somebody in another thread posted this link to a fan fiction at
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/9119020/1/Growing-Up-in-Storybrooke
which I think illustrates an answer to your question. It’s written in the first person from the point of view of Henry and I think it shows poignantly how much he wanted a more loving relationship with Regina but how, due to the curse, she couldn’t provide it. In short, he suffered from a lot of pain and confusion for most of his life, being labelled “crazy” because Regina lied to him about the nature of time in Storybrooke. Even so, we saw in “Queen of Hearts” and “The Cricket Game” that he seemed ready to forgive Regina. His problem with her now is not forgiveness, it is the same problem he had with her in the first season; opposition to her schemes to hurt the other people he loves. I believe he does love Regina as well but he is torn between his love for her and his hatred of what she does.timespacerParticipant@obisgirl wrote:
but if Emma is still around, Henry would be a good king. if it were Regina, maybe a not so nice and good king. There would be a difference in how he would rule his people.
I was assuming Henry would ascend to the throne after the death of his predecessor (whether it was Regina, Emma, Snow, or Charming). If Snow and Charming are the monarchs, Emma might get a very short reign, if any, since thanks to the curse she is about the same age as her parents!
Since he was born in our world, maybe when he became king, Henry would abdicate, call for elections and get elected to office!
