Great post, Mysterykat! I can’t think of anything to add except possibly Emma’s suggestion that chimera is “like Tur-Duck-En?” but that is a stretch. It’s so hard to find fresh chimera!
On a related note, have you seen the “Cooking With the Evil Queen” video on youtube?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2DGQgZ8sy94
[adrotate group="5"]timespacerParticipantI loved all the Mr. Gold scenes in this episode. I thought Robert Carlyle’s portrayal of Gold’s fear of being without his magic was amazing. Did anybody else notice that the audio changed when he took off the shawl? All the background noise disappeared until Emma placed the shawl back on his shoulders. I don’t know whether or not it was meant to indicate that he was losing his memory when he wasn’t wearing the shawl, but it certainly was a powerful effect.
Last week, I predicted that Emma would initially be concerned about Mr. Gold’s threat at the end of “In the Name of the Brother” and that it might take most of this episode for her to develop sympathy for Mr. Gold, but they managed to do it in just the first few minutes. And despite my initial scepticism, I think the scene worked because of the acting by Robert Carlyle. He made the character so sympathetic at that moment that you could believe Emma understanding that he made his threat out of fear.

You forgot (dead) twinbrother James
Good catch! I’ll edit it to add him to it. I wouldn’t be too surprised if we wind up having to make more additions in the near future.

Can somebody please explain the whole Frankenstein thing please. Some of the stories aren’t in the book like Henry said, does anyone know why? It’s been bugging me.
Jefferson said, “There are many worlds. Some have magic, some don’t.” Henry’s book was presumably written by someone from the Enchanted Forest since it mainly describes that world (although it also mentions Jefferson’s trip to Wonderland and has a page showing flying monkeys, suggesting Oz.) But Regina said, “I brought who I wanted” so she seems to have been able to bring people from some of those other worlds.
It’s interesting that, as you point out, Henry was also surprised that Dr. Frankenstein was in Storybrooke and not in the book. It appears David never told him Dr. Whale’s identity after the events in “The Doctor”, although Henry did know about Daniel and the fact that Regina used magic to return him to the dead – she mentions it in her conversation with Henry in “Into the Deep.”

If they have to introduce more characters, I hope they’ll do something with Mother Goose (like the old lady who lived in a shoe, Peter Peter, pumpkin eater, and Hickory Dickory Dock).
Remember when Charming made his speech to the crowd in “We Are Both”, he said “Live in the woods… live in a shoe if you like.” And the camera showed a woman in the crowd smiling as he said it. She didn’t look that old however, and I only saw two or three kids with her. But it made me wonder if that was a story we are going to see.
timespacerParticipantWell, I have to vote for Phineas for sentimental reasons – that was my dad’s name.

Cora referred to him as Master…a name that has master for a meaning might work.
The mention of names meaning “Master” reminded me of something else. Did anybody else ever notice that the writing on the wall above Regina’s office says “Magister”? That’s Latin for “master” or “teacher” but I always found it odd that they used the masculine “Magister” instead of the feminine “Magistra”. Could there be any significance there?
timespacerParticipantThat’s a great idea – as you say, they could certainly do both by showing outsiders in the present and giving us the early days of Storybrooke in the flashback. I really want to see those early days!
I have a personal theory that the library was originally open but Regina closed it after she adopted Henry. I want to see if I might be right for a change!
timespacerParticipantI found this review of a book to be published this week which gives more background on Mary Shelley’s creation of “the original Dr. Whale”! The book is The Lady and Her Monsters by Roseanne Montillo. The review is at http://www.nytimes.com/2013/02/03/books/review/the-lady-and-her-monsters-by-roseanne-montillo.html?nl=books&emc=edit_bk_20130201&_r=0
timespacerParticipantI wonder if that warning Mr. Gold gave the Charmings wasn’t foreshadowing that Hook will get loose and try to hurt Belle. Belle will, of course, have to come to grips with not having her memory. I’m curious to see if she will leave the hospital and try to start a new life.
As for the Charmings and Regina, I would think Snow would try to find Regina to tell her that she has been cleared of Archie’s murder, assuming Regina doesn’t announce it herself. But I fear Regina will be getting more deeply tangled in Cora’s schemes. And since Emma knows that Cora is in town, she might decide to take Henry with her rather than leave him in town with Cora. This would also have the effect of removing from Storybrooke the one person who might be able to counter Cora’s influence on Regina.
