Henry is an interesting exception, since although born in Arizona, both of his parents are from the EF and remained uncursed, which is possibly why he could cross the town line. I doubt Regina could adopt any random kid from the outside world (besides Owen/Greg who was already inside the town limit), and that is why she could only adopt Henry, who happens to be a fairytale character born in the outside world.
Remember, Henry didn’t go HOME alone. Emma brought him. He was allowed to leave because he wasn’t part of the curse, just like Owen. I happen to believe that if Henry tried to go back alone or with anyone besides Emma, August or Neal, the same thing that happened to Owen would have happened to him. Just imagine how crazy he would have felt then!

But there were a few things that bothered me about this episode. The writers themselves said that this episode would prove that Regina did not abuse Graham–that didn’t happen. If anything, it only shows more of what she did to Graham, using his heart and and the curse to make him act the way she wanted him to.
Wait, the writers said that? It only proved that Graham WAS abused! He slept with her because it was what SHE wanted. He never would have if he had his free will. I don’t care what anyone says, the poor guy was raped.
Le sigh…anyway…
Favorites:Graham. Even though seeing him made me sad.
Kurt. I really just loved him, loved the actor, the character, everything. His reaction to seeing Regina with the heart was great and the way he handled her throughout the episode was very realistic.
THE CAR CHASE! OH MY GLOB WE GOT A CAR CHASE! And it was pretty darn good, too! Seriously this episode had it all, it was a horror movie (creepy town appears from nowhere where creepy mayor woman wants to keep your son?) action flick, and even a budding family film if Regina hadn’t been so creepy, because that moment with Owen in the kitchen was cute.
“I won’t hurt him!” – Regina. It cracked me up…because it was creepy.
Regina with the heart communicator and her little swishy hand with it.
The opening scene with Kurt and Owen.
Seeing that scene with Mary Margaret in class talking about birds again, and the fact that they were living in Groundhog Day.
When Regina yelled at Mary Margaret to fight back when they bumped into each other again.
Rumple popping out of nowhere to be Snow’s “guard dog.” Teehee.
Ginnifer Goodwin.
Lana Parilla.
Rumple’s words to Snow about how he lives with himself.
Henry’s face when Regina poofed away his dynamite.
Henry is finally written as an eleven year old boy – who turns to dynamite to solve his problems.
Oh Lord, I better stop. I could go on. I really loved this episode.
I can’t really say I have a least…but one scene I’m terribly conflicted with. The scene where Snow sacrifices herself to Regina was AMAZING and powerful and incredibly acted. Snow giving herself up that way seemed very typical, as it wouldn’t be the first time she made a rash self-damaging decision like that. I believe that her character would offer herself to die if it put an end to the madness.
That said, I feel like after Regina showed her the blackness and told her she wasn’t going to kill her, and Snow BEGGED Regina to kill her…was a little much. That wasn’t just wanting to save her family and end the feud, that was suicidal. Even a change in words there would have been better, like if she cried and said, “Just do it! Get it over with!” Would have sounded better than, “Please kill me!” I just don’t see Snow wanting THAT BADLY to leave her family. This is the same woman who leapt into a swirling pit going who-knew-where just so she wouldn’t have to be separated from Emma again. And yes, I realize she’s traumatized and depressed and hating herself, but I just can’t see her wanting to die because of it.
I still loved the scene though, it gave me chills. And the way Regina was crying? Ugh. I just couldn’t get over it. Also, can we talk about the fact that Ginnifer Goodwin had to come up with all that pain and fear on her own, with just Lana pushing her hand toward her? The only thing missing for me was Emma coming to save her, and possibly yelling at her for what she did. Do you think Snow will have any repercussions in the next ep, or will it be glossed over?
Also…why does David call her Mary Margaret? I get why everyone else does, they did it for 28 years and Emma is still adjusting. But David knew her as Snow much longer, and started off this season calling her Snow. It makes no sense to me whatsoever that he would call her Mary Margaret. None. It bugs me. Like a lot.
wewerecursedParticipantI don’t think Greg has much of an agenda other than finding his father. I think he’s too much of an average guy to be too bent on destroying anyone.
My friend explained to me that there’s a real life Greg Mendel who is a botanist, more specifically he alters plants genetically. We thought that it could possibly mean he may have the key to making the magic beans grow faster (since in Tiny, the giants said it takes a century.)
I do agree that Kurt is probably in the asylum, and I kind of hope he for some reason didn’t age either because I really liked that actor! I know that wouldn’t make any sense because Henry grew, but still. For a split second I wondered about that one creepy guy who’s always mopping the floor of the asylum, but I discarded that idea! (But seriously, who IS that guy??)
This idea of Tamara being “Her” is totally making sense to me! I love it. I also love the idea of Tamara being super evil, because without Cora, we need some ACTUAL evil. Not just kinda evil. 🙂

She kind of swirled her hand around when she spun in her chair in what looked like a mystical “crystal ball” movement. Lol, I dunno, but it made me laugh.
wewerecursedParticipantThe way I see it is, in their world there’s love and then there’s TRUE love, and they’re two different things. I don’t think everyone gets to experience true love, and that it’s rare. Rumple and Cora could have loved one another, but just not been in “true” love. I think in the case of romantic love, there is only one true love for everybody. Milah and Cora weren’t Rumple’s true loves, only Belle is, so only Belle is capable of breaking his curse. I love how in the show though they explore the fact that familial love can break curses as well.
wewerecursedParticipant“I’m going to kill Cora.”
Was just like the line,
“I’m going to kill the queen,” from Heart of Darkness. 😀 Nega!Snow returns!
wewerecursedParticipantNow I’m beginning to see what they meant by “Racy Lacy” at Paleyfest. 😆
March 6, 2013 at 11:02 pm in reply to: THE QUEEN IS DEAD : Favorite and Least Favorite Moments #177700wewerecursedParticipantShe’ll be in the next episode, (Eva not Sofer, unfortunately,) so doubtless her name will come up then. Hope that makes you feel better. 🙂

Actually it makes me like Emma even more. Respect to her, she doesn’t try even to defend herself but takes that Henry is angry, as much as it obviously does pain her, but she seems to accept that he has every right to be angry for a while. That is so not spineless. Emma lied, no matter what good reasons she had or told herself she had or might be accepted here as good reasons, Emma lied to Henry about something so important as who his dad is.
Lying was definitely wrong, but Emma made a mistake. It happens. It doesn’t excuse a child being disrespectful. The fact that Henry has a right to be angry doesn’t make his remark okay. Other than the lie Emma has done nothing that doesn’t deserve his complete respect. Also, Emma has to be afraid her son is going to hop on a bus the second he’s not totally pleased with her? Yeah, Regina was a crappy mother, and the reason he wasn’t properly punished for running away to Boston was because who could blame him? (I still hope Mary Margaret or someone explained to him what a dangerous thing to do that was!) But regardless of the poor kid’s insane life right now, his multiple parental roles seriously need to set some boundaries!
I’m glad Emma isn’t making any kind of excuses to Henry, I love that she just flat out said she was thinking of herself. But when she told Henry that, she’d known him for all of what, a couple of weeks? She didn’t know him well enough to know that he wouldn’t be totally devastated by the knowledge of what his father did or who he was. Just prior to that, the kid found out he was born in prison, something that was very embarrassing to her. Also at that point Emma felt like she was just trying to etch out a spot in his life. She wasn’t his “mom” yet. I’m not saying that all of that excuses lying, but I probably would have lied too.
Maybe once they’re home Grampa Charming will set him straight. 🙂
wewerecursedParticipantI honestly think the line was kind of funny, mostly because it’s the snarky type of thing Regina would say…and come on, some of her was bound to rub off. That said, I agree the line was out of place, and just didn’t make any sense in the situation. Keep in mind though, Henry spoke HORRIBLY to Regina before the curse broke. Yes, she was the evil queen, yes, he didn’t feel like she loved him, but at the time she was still his mom and he was always very disrespectful. In his eleven year old mind, he may feel like treating Emma like Regina if she’s going to act like her. At least, I think that’s what the writers were getting at, but just tried too hard to sneak a disrespectful snap in there somewhere.
I hope they don’t keep the grudge going long, because Henry will have to realize that Emma made a mistake, and she’s sorry, and it’s not the same thing as the way he was treated by Regina.
