Or maybe it’s someone else’s heart and Regina just tampered with the DNA results. It’s certainly something she could do…

EdChambers, your theory is good too.

She didn’t know at the time, but she eventually found out. In “Snow Falls”, Snow and James have the following conversation:

James: So what did you do to incur that much wrath?
Snow White: She blames me for ruining her life.
    James: Did you?
    Snow White: Yes.

At this point, Snow is well aware of what happened and why the Evil Queen blames her.

King Arthur, I agree with you 100%.
Snow was a child, who was manipulated by Cora in a particularly vicious way. When she told her Regina’s secret, she honestly thought she was doing something good. She had such a great mother, that it was difficult for her to imagine that a mother could be so evil. For Regina to hate a child so much and for so long is just not acceptable. Besides, look at all the people she hurt just to get her revenge. Those people had nothing to do with what happened. It’s just plain evil. If anything, this episode made me despise her even more.
For me, it also hints as to why she wanted to adopt Henry: she wanted to be the kind of parent her mother never was, and instead wanted to be like her father (hence the name). It’s ironical that she failed miserably: the kid hates her just as much as she hated her mother. And she is just as evil.
