Well…I mean, Zelena is technically the most powerful sorceress in Storybrooke, dark magic wise. She was a literal prodigy as a baby, and even Rumple said in his note to Cora that her magic was the most powerful….dark magic doesn’t even affect her. It’s going to be interesting seeing the magic prodigy go up against the Black Fairy, who said she basically created dark magic.

However…I’m wondering about this “friendship” between Zelena & the Tin Man. And like @TheWatcher said…why would it cost her, her magic?!

This was definetly a retcon episode…possibly the biggest retcon in the entire series! Well aside from Cinderella’s baby’s gender incident, but all the retcons from Snowing waking up during the curse to magic portals/flowers appearing in a Land With No Magic, left my head spinning.

The best thing about any of this was Snow realizing she couldn’t sacrifice an entire realm to get her wish, and the sacrifice she and Charming made reminded me why they were heroes.

But let’s be honest…where were all these darkness detecting flowers when Cora & Hook came to town? Or how about Peter Pan, Zelena, Ingrid, the Queens of Darkness, Dark Swan, Evil Queen?!!

I think this flashback would have worked a lot better had it been what we theorized: that Snow and Charming would together dream up a “what if” scenario, and it’s their choice with what to do with Emma is what causes them to break the Evil Queen’s failsafe in the sleeping curse. Having it not be an actual retcon flashback would have solved the biggest issue of the episode, and it could have been even more powerful.

Retcon Galore ladies & gentlemen!!!! Retcon Galore!!!!!

    Rating: 5/10

Speechless…like…it was, intriguing, but too many retcons, magical McGuffins, and etc. I just can’t…

It’s been a while since we’ve seen a Snowing Adventure, so this was refreshing to see….even if it was one major retcon.

Black Fairy is very entertaining!!! And her interaction with Rumple & Gideon makes me want her to interact more with Belle somehow!

Why do I get the feeling that the thirty people who showed up in Regina’s office, is literally the town’s population at this point! LOL!

Highlight of this episode was Granny hugging Gepetto…there, I said it!

    Mixed:

Sooooo…Snowing True Love Kiss didn’t break the Dark Curse? How???!!!

Neverland…didn’t miss it all. But at least we met Tiger Lily!

I understand Storybrooke wants Snowing awake, but c’mon…you have the Black Fairy on the loose, is this really the time for everyone to start getting sleepy due to everyone taking a portion of the Sleeping Curse?!!

    Disliked:

Another Magical McGuffin to defeat the villain….I’m stunned!

You get a retcon! You get a retcon!! Everyone gets a retcon!!!!

Now magic wasn’t really in Storybrooke during the Dark Curse Era….so how are magic flowers growing during that time?!!!! How can magic portals open in a Land with No Magic?!!!!!

I understand Regina kept only a little magic in her vault, but….how did Rumple brew a potion, when there’s no magic!!!

I mean c’mon…David at least needs to sit down and actually talk with Hook about what he did! At least Snow & Regina talked it over, concerning them killing one another’s parents….and eventually moved past it, but are we really supposed to just accept David brushing his father’s death off that easily.

I really like the idea that Blue and Black were originally one person who split into light and darkness and that they need to merge back together into one being. The light living within the dark and the dark thriving with the help of the light. It’s sooooooo meaty and symbolic for this show. That’s my dream ending!

As fascinating and amazing this theory is….wouldn’t that make Rumple the son of the Blue Fairy as well? And to be honest, I’ve always had a feeling Adam and Eddy wanted to drag Blue Fairy into the family tree and that would be a pretty great way to do it.

No new family members…so the little girl isn’t related to Regina then, or anyone for that matter.

Then I guess that means, Andrew’s Character isn’t adult Henry either…so I guess the new arrivals really are just original characters. Now I’m confused on the purpose of these coming new people…

Soooo…you mean to tell me, that this entire time…there was a potion to rid someone of the darkness in their heart?! I can’t even be mad, this is just too hilarious….like this is the most unplanned, illogical, spur of the moment, magical McGuffin in the entire series!

This was a good episode! We definetly got a lot of answers to a lot of our questions, and I think it served it’s purpose! We understand Gideon a bit more!

    Rating: 7/10

    Liked:

Learning that Rumple learned the term “Dearie” from his mother, Black Fairy. It makes so much sense now how that’s his favorite word! XD

RegalBeliever Scenes are always the Highlight.

    Gideon’s really grown on me!

“What did I do that was so bad?” “Tried to kill us all!”

Did anyone else see a parallel of Cora/Regina/Daniel with Black Fairy/Gideon/Roderick?!

Speak up for your son Rumple!!!

    Mixed:

Belle girl, stop letting these heroes disrespect your family like this!

I screamed at the Hamilton Tickets scene, but isn’t OUAT like two to three years behind us? How would they know about a musical that’s not even out yet? It would’ve been easier and better timeline wise to have Isaac ask for tickets to see Aladdin or Wicked…or even Newsies!

Sooo…….why run throughout the house…when Emma could just poof away?! I don’t understand.

Emma’s going to have so many spider nightmares!

    Disliked:

Those self-righteous Charmings…I just can’t! The main enemy here is Black Fairy, not Gideon!

Blackbeard and Hook had an interesting interaction, however I just really didn’t care too much for the Neverland Scenes tonight.

I agree it is ridiculous dialogue, but it is possible that Emma and Snow are saying this because they are trying to get Rumpel and Belle to react.

    Quote

If that’s what they are trying to do, they are not doing it very well cause Belle doesn’t eeact to anything. It was basically like this Emma and Snow: We gonna kill your son Belle: la la la

    Quote

Belle’s a good one because it couldn’t have been me! I wouldn’t have given a good d*** about any of that heroes and savior mess…you just can’t walk up and blatantly threaten my son.

    And once again…the Charmings are self-righteous, self-serving, self-preserving “heroes”. What’s new folks?!

Charming basically said the exact same thing to Belle in the spring premiere (the line about giving Belle one shot to save Gideon, adding “but if it doesn’t work…”).

But does Rumple actually know who made the curse?

We don’t know but in S4 he and the Queens of Darkness did steal it from the Chernabog cave. Maybe the Chernabog belonged to the Black Fairy?

    Quote

If it turns out Chernabog was actually created by the Black Fairy, that would give us major insight into how powerful and dark the Black Fairy really is. But the question now is, why would the Black Fairy even create the Dark Curse, let alone never cast it.

Unless the Black Fairy originally created the Dark Curse for her and Malcolm to run away and start a family together, ala Rumplestilskin. But the price that would have been paid to use the curse, would have been her son Rumple, which is why she never used it. However this still wouldn’t explain why she abandoned Rumple, unless there was outside interference… (cough) Blue Fairy (cough). And perhaps the separation from her son is what embittered her heart, and she resorted to stealing other children because she was denied the chance to raise her own.
