ParticipantLet’s all be civil about this but….did Hook deserve to come back to life (by way of a god-blessing from Zeus)?
If you mean from a moral perspective then…I think not. I agree with WickedRegal and yourself. But another interesting question is: do you believe Hook deserves to return based on what he adds to the story? Is he an interesting character? Does he contribute to the plot? Are his dynamics with the other characters important to the show? For me, the answer to all three of the above questions is ‘no’. I find him rather bland, and his character doesn’t have much depth or complexity anymore. His sole reason for existence is Emma. He doesn’t drive the plot forward – not through is own actions anyway. As Screwball Ninja points out, Hook’s narrative function is that of a henchman. He is simply a supporting actor – these days, to Emma and the Charmings. Finally, he doesn’t have much of a relationship with anyone except Emma. Their relationship’s been front and centre this season, but it doesn’t integrate into the rest of the story all that well. It’s not like Emma and Regina, or Emma and Henry which really form the core of the entire show. Anyone else have any thoughts about this?
Hook is no more deserving than a lot of other characters. And the problem for me this episode was that if we were to put Robin and Hook on a scale next to each other, Robin would win – never really the villain, always putting others first, the father of two young children one of whom is now an orphan. I have nothing against Hook, but bringing him back and obliterating Robin is somewhat of a mockery, in my opinion.
And another thing to add…..that whole episode, Hook was concerned about no one but Emma. Not Henry, not Snow White & Charming, not Regina or Robin, all who came to Hell in the first place to get him….no one but Emma! I get that they’re supposed to be considered “true love” and all now, but that’s very unsettling because it further proves the theory that everyone in that family could die, and Hook wouldn’t bat an eye as long as it isn’t Emma.
Then again he sort of fits right in that sort of family because if you’re not in that immediate CharMillsStilskin Clan, who really cares about you?
I don’t mean to be rash but it sounds like most people here hate the show? So…why are you still watching if you hate it? Is hate watching a show entertaining, healthy? If I don’t like where a show is going I simply tune out. Daniel always promotes coming to this forum to have all kinds of discussions but from being here just for a couple of hours I can already tell this isn’t the place for me. For one I actually like Hook and it seems like everyone here dislikes him and his relationship with Emma which is my favorite on the show.. Shame really. I thought his revival was amazing, he’s absolutely earned it as he has become a true hero. Even Zeus has acknowledged the great things Killian has done by giving him a second chance and basically saying the place he belongs is by Emma’s side.
Well to answer your first question, it’s because we’ve invested the past five years of our lives into this show, and since we’re know it’s reaching it’s end anyway…what would be the point in walking out now? So we do what we do best with episodes, grin and bare them, and try to find something that either reminds of us the good old days or go against our better judgment and embrace something new in the show.
Secondly…there is a Captain Hook Thread and there is a CaptainSwan Thread, both places are massive Hook fans, you should really check it out. However, don’t allow our personal opinion of Hook stop you from mingling and interacting with the rest of the forums. We love to have friendly debates and discussions on everything OUAT Related, and would love to hear your own thoughts, but these past five years, we’ve learned to not dabble in conversations that would result in conflict. Just as you have your opinion that Hook deserved Zeus’s God Blessing, I have my opinion that he did not, so between you and I, we can just agree to disagree on that matter, and move forward with the thread discussion.
But again, welcome to the forums!

ParticipantMaybe I missed something….why exactly did Hades kill Arthur anyway?
Because plot.
LOL right. Also my questions are pointless. I just don’t know why Hades did this thing. When he killed Arthur it seemed like he did it for a specific reason that would be uncovered during the episode and then…no not so much
In the words of some classic mafia movies….Arthur knew too much! XD

ParticipantHmm so Regina’s make up gets darker and begins to channel the EQ. The make up together with her grieving ( and how it affected her last time) makes others think that the EQ is about to make a come back. Henry, being one of them, decides that the best thing to do is destroy magic after all to protect Regina from herself, to protect others from Regina, and honestly, there has been enough death and destruction in the past 3 years because of magic that Henry has had enough. However, the silly spell that he acquires from the Dragon (who has been in SB the WHOLE TIME since the second curse) and then uses to remove all magic from Emma and Regina has the opposite effect and makes both the light and the dark magic stronger. Regina becomes the EQ, and she and Emma become arch enemies once more. (Dragon’s back. Yey!)
Now if we can just figure out how exactly Jekyll & Hyde fit into this…

ParticipantOther questions: if Hades had this Olympian Crystal that can kill gods AND if Hades can poof himself to other realms (see: 515, The Brothers Jones) why didn’t he poof himself to Olympus and y’know…kill the gods until everyone relented and agreed to let Hades be king of Olympus??
I always thought in a sense that since Zeus was the most powerful God, he could more than likely survive an ambush like that and actually make Hades punishment worse than the first time.

ParticipantI think Arthur’s real quest for redemption is just starting. He’s going to set the UW to rights. At least, that is how it sounded. Does that make Arthur the new Lord of the UW?
Yes it does make him the new Lord of the UW. But…like, why should we care? How do we know Arthur’s gonna fix it all up? What if he turns into Hades 2.0? This is such a silly plot line (and I can’t even really call it a plot line because it’s not; it’s a beginning, middle, and end, of the Arthur: King of the Underworld plot and it won’t ever be reexplored).
I can’t rest knowing that man gets any sort of…peace. So I keep the headcanon that Cruella remains Queen of the Underworld and Arthur is just her new “toy” in the playpen! XD

Participant*hands @wickedregal a drink* I’m sorry you lost your guy and your ship tonight.
“accepts drink”
How does this keep happening? For the past five years, every ship we’ve ever shipped on this show ends up literally dead! And why do keep putting ourselves through it? OUAT has crossed a line with me tonight, it’ll never come back from….

ParticipantI’m trying to see how Hook even helped in taking Hades down?
Zelena would have made the choice of Regina over Hades without even seeing those pages, it told her nothing new because Hades had already explained to her it’s power! So how does Zeus think Hook assisted in killing Hades when Emma never killed him, and the pages literally played no part in it!

ParticipantRational: Regina…just leave! Take Zelena, take Baby Greenbean, and if you want take Henry, and just leave Storybrooke! Get out of there!!!!!!
Irrational: Set it the (beep) off Regina! Burn the library, diner, mayor office, school, just burn all of that (beep) down!
