I can’t read the comments section of that. It’s so tempting to decimate some of the so-called arguments on there but they just give me a headache to be honest. I’ve never really had to endure “shipping wars” with anything else I watch but this is ridiculous with OUAT and ugh, it makes me start to really hate some ships because of the constant arguments!

I watch soap operas too and this scenario, sounds too soapy for me. I don’t want Hook to be evil again. I think, when he came back from the finale, Hook is no more. He’s Killian again.
I agree with this! I also think having Hook go back to the “bad” side again would just make him Regina 2.0 with how she appears to be incapable of making a morally good decision without someone else to secure her there. I think Hook’s will to just be Killian Jones needs to be depicted as something he decided for himself rather than for Emma in order to for him to completely redeem himself.. Otherwise it’s like he’s repeating what he went through following Milah’s death (like Regina does), which takes away from his character development and the viewer is less likely to tolerate that too…
I never thought Neal would die like that. All I could think when he fell through the portal was “someone will probably find him or help him??” and that’s exactly what happened yet for me, it felt like Swanfire’s little thing~ had finally ended there. The “I love you”s were almost said out of desperation (hello, it was almost/pretty much like life and death here) as opposed to a basis for them to renew a romantic relationship. Personally, I think Emma and Neal’s relationship won’t be anything more than platonic by the end of this.

This pretty much solidifies CS, let’s not lie, haha. 😉 Charming and Hook have far too many “manly”~ altercations for it to not lead to the awkward “fml, this guy’s sleeping with my daughter”/”lol come at me bro i’m sleeping with your daughter” moments. :’)
That’s an awesome list though. I started rewatching from season 1 last week so I’ll definitely be looking out for these and more. 8)

When he talked about his separation from Grace, I felt so bad for him… despite him having essentially kidnapped Snow White and tied her and Emma up… He’s just such an intriguing character, I feel like there’s so much more that could be done with him. Of course, with Sebastian’s schedule, that would prove to be difficult. 🙁
I also miss August already. In the same way Jefferson has so many different sides to his character, I love the complexity to August’s character too. Present-Pinnochio/August does not count. That was an awful decision. A person’s memories and experiences are an integral part of them and reverting August to that state of childhood wasn’t far off from killing him (and since when could wood even conduct electricity, grr…). But yeah, with August you see the inner conflict between having to keep his promise to his father to look after Emma and simply taking advantage of the world, having to choose between responsibility and a selfish? kind of pleasure, a conflict I’m sure we’re all familiar with though perhaps on not such a great scale…
So yeah, I miss those two. 🙁 🙁 🙁
yuka chanParticipantI don’t really have a particularly valuable contribution to make to this thread at this moment in time but hi. I ship this so hard. I never used to but then everything changed because of Tumblr and I just really need this to become canon next season.

Rather than repeating what’s already been said… I’ll just keep it brief. I used to ship Swanfire and even though he bugged me a little even then, I had a bit of a soft spot for Neal. I kinda understood why he left her with the whole watch incident with August but at the same time, it felt like he also left her in order to avoid getting involved in the magic of his past. It’s since he’s been appearing in the present though that I’ve really started to not like him. When he and Emma argue, the tone he takes with her makes me feel like he’s talking down to her (like obisgirl said, he never shows any belief in her and I feel like he always uses the “lol i know you’re in love with me but…” line. Obviously, not to that extent but you can see what I mean here).

Interesting. Sometimes I’m also annoyed by the good guys (like Snow and Charming) because their goodness is so often in your face. […] I don’t hate them at all, but glad they made Snow the one who tricked Regina, because her character needs to be more nuanced lest she become a cliche or boring.
I’m glad Snow was essentially responsible for Cora’s death to some extent but I hate the whole “woe is me” thing she has going on as a consequence. Am I the only one who feels like her “selfless”, “good” acts following this aren’t quite so selfless and are probably strongly motivated by her hopes to “purify her blackening heart”? I think it’s because they constantly mention it whenever they’re about to do something to help/save someone and that really annoys me. They also make it sound like it’s something that can only be stopped by a redemption through her actions as opposed to her own belief/will. Of course, one action doesn’t define a person, which is a shallow perception to have anyway.
With heroes in general, for me, it’s similar to the Euthyphro dilemma. Is an act good because God commands it or is there a higher law saying this act is essentially good, which is why God commands it. In this case, of course, we’re “replacing” God with the heroes of whichever story. When an action is presented as “evil” because one person does it yet the hero is justified (which I feel like has happened once or twice on the show) and when I feel about “heroes” the way I do about Snow above, then I start to question their heroism… And I’m going a little off-topic maybe and on a complete tangent and far too philosophical here, hahaha. I’m sure you can see what I mean. 😉
yuka chanParticipantHahaha, that drawing is awesome. Can you imagine.
I’m feeling a bit of Charming Hook, I won’t lie. Maybe I’m starting to ship it casually… But more as a brotp than anything else? But being the Captain Swan shipper I am, I’m envisioning more Hook/Charming banter with that kind of dynamic, haha.
May 25, 2013 at 6:21 pm in reply to: which characters you hate? (no flaming or bashing allowed) #196096yuka chanParticipantHate’s a strong word but there’s something about Neal that really rubs me the wrong way. I really like Bae in the flashbacks but it’s like he and Neal aren’t even the same person. He just comes across as such a jerk whenever he and Emma have differing opinions on something (see: Tamara & Emma’s “superpower”), he can really get on my nerves. 🙁
As for August, I really liked him but when he became kid Pinnochio again, I hated that. That’s not that different from killing him off…
A part of me loves Rumple but a part also really hates him and that’s far too complicated to get into. :’) I hate Cora for reasons similar to why I partially dislike Rumple.
I also really, really don’t like Mary Margaret/Snow sometimes. There’s something about really “good” characters that puts me off. In fact, I had a phase a few months ago where I kinda hated all the “heroes” on the show because it felt like they were justified in whatever they did just because they were being depicted as the heroes… I think I’m past it now?? But there is something about Snow, especially after Cora gets killed that really annoys me because she comes across as so self-pitying.
