Figured people would be trying to figure out clues from Greg’s phone, so it’d be easier to have them all lumped together in one thread.
The code to unlock it is some combo of the numbers 1, 6, 7 and 0, but they don’t show us which order.
The ring tone is the theme from Star Wars.
He has a LinkedIn account.
Touristy photos from east coast locations.
He’s a tweeter, who loves his red meat.
List of numbers, outgoing in red, incoming in green, area code info from http://www.bennetyee.org/ucsd-pages/area.html

The repeated 555 – 01 isn’t anything suspicious, because that’s just the phone numbers that are officially reserved for use in tv shows and movies.
Righto, have at it, let the deduction and speculation begin….
[adrotate group="5"]January 21, 2013 at 8:09 am #169341evilqueenParticipantthat’s some great job, thanks!
Do you have any thoughts?
I’m also a bit unsure about “HER” calling Gary all the time, maybe it’s someone’s initials?
Oh, and is it just me, or does Gary know a bit too much? As in, he didn’t tell Emma that he saw anything, heck, he risked his licence by saying he was texting! But he was very quick to call this other person and tell her/him something interesting…
Now, I’m also not sure what was it that this person “wasn’t going to believe in” – was it that he saw some magic (which excuse me, but I highly doubt, that ball of fire was hardly visible from behind of Rumple’s hand! especially at that car speed!) OR that he saw Rumple or Hook and that was what was so interesting? Maybe he was looking for one of them for ages?
Don’t know but I actually am a fan of Gary being just an ordinary guy, it would force EVERYONE to go back to FTL… or something? 😕January 21, 2013 at 8:50 am #169347TheGoldenKeyParticipantGreat job Phee! Thanks so much for sharing that with us all!
Well here’s what I find rather odd. All his outgoing calls are from Pennsylvania, some as inland as Erie. Yet all his pictures show him on the east coast. Doesn’t make any sense. So, we have NO area codes or numbers linking him to the coastline nor do they show him travelling from Pennsylvania to Maine.
Something else that stroke me as odd. From the pictures he’s supposedly visiting the coast. Yet all pics of his meal are beef and no seafood. No lobster, crab, fish????
Would love to know what statue that is he is posing with. Also wondering if he’s a food critic and a writer for travel magazine.
Just a thought and it’s way, way out there. But what if he’s the writer of the book. Always thought it was fantasy and how surprised to find out all his characters were real. Like I said, way out there but the thought of him being some sort of writer just strikes me as odd.

January 21, 2013 at 9:31 am #169360GaultheriaParticipantWhat if those are Lorem Ipsum numbers? I’m hoping he was talking to someone inside Storybrooke. If Greg is a friar just like his real-life namesake, then “Her” is most likely someone in a religious order. What news could he have for the Blue Fairy? Maybe Dr. Whale confessed his whole story to Greg while he thought Greg was still unconscious. But I think it’d have to be more than that, such as Greg bringing news from outside, something to do with Bae.

It’s possible that the reason Greg’s cell phone has only PA area codes is because he only knows people in that state. He didn’t call any local numbers while he was traveling, but he did keep in touch with people from home or work. It appears like the person he called most was the Pittsburg number, which I agree with Phee is likely HER number.
What if HER is an acronym meaning “Her Evil Royalty”? Maybe Greg serves an evil ruler from yet another far-off land. Since Eddy and Adam often pull references from popular culture, here’s a tie-in:
According to Urban Dictionary:
When the Finnish Love Metal band HIM wanted to realease a CD in North America they were told that they had to rename their band because Him was already a cpyrighted band name.
They renamed their band HER for a rare realease of Razorblade Romance, and HER jokingly stands for HER EVIL ROYALTY to comabt HIM’s HIS INFERNAL MAJESTY.
They are now able to realease and tour under the name HIM as the prior band is obsolete. The Golden Key wrote: Just a thought and it’s way, way out there. But what if he’s the writer of the book. That idea occurred to me too. Would be very interesting to see that play out, but I’d prefer the author to be someone who is connected to SB, someone like August (though he hasn’t be confirmed as such, despite his knowledge of book binding).

You’ve got the old fisherman tending his nets, the young tenderman unloading his catch and the female canner out on her break. I guess they have no real significance other than to emphasize he’s on a sightseeing trip.

haha, no, it’s my mistake – of course it’s Greg! Ah, the gibberish I write when in the middle of the night 😆

Sorry but those meals look like my husband’s favorites… no way he would eat a fish or seafood ….. I keep telling him he has to leave me a wealthy widow with that diet …. but so far no changes.

I think “Her” knows what he was searching for. So his, “You’ll never believe what I saw,” was along the lines of, “I found them, we were right!” That could play into him having been from a magical land, and once he was in our world, he was seeking out magic here. Depending on who he was, where he was, and when he came back to our world, he may have even had knowledge of the curse, and that could be the reason he was trying to track everyone down.
My fave theory right now for this guy is the Wizard theory, which would fit quite well, if he’s someone from our world, who has interacted with a magical land, then come back, and is searching to find a remnant of a magical land in our world. In such a scenario, I’m imagining that “Her” is Dorothy, because she’d be someone who has had similar experiences to him, and would understand his current mission, so they’d make a good pair IMO.

As I was getting towards the end of the list, searching the codes, I thought, “Please let one be from outside PA, just to mix it up.” I did find it interesting that the final one is for “New Castle”. All the others had a compass bearing, but that one just straight up said “Pittsburgh, New Castle”. If we’re thinking he is from Pittsburgh, because that’s where the repeated number is from, then it’s interesting to see that paired up with “New Castle.” New monarch? New ruler of a new land? We have a Newcastle here in Australia, but it’s all the one world, so it stuck out to me that the PA one is spelled as two separate words, especially when castles are kind of a thing on this show.

It’s super blurry on the screencap, and I hadn’t originally noticed it when I was making them, but up the top right corner it seems to say “2 weeks ago”, so those pics may not have been taken on his east coast trip.

Thanks for figuring that out, was hoping the statue mystery would be solved. There were some set pics recently where he’d apparently just been posing for photos, and I think he might have been wearing that big coat, like in the pic with the statue, so perhaps that’s when that was taken.
