Although Rumplestiltskin kissed Belle goodbye in the Season 2 finale of ABC’s Once Upon a Time – tasking her with a vague mission to hide Storybrooke from other lookie-loos as he and five others set course for Neverland — series cocreator Adam Horowitz tells TVLine there “absolutely” is a plan to continue visiting the Maine berg.
“Some people got on a ship, some stayed behind,” Horowitz notes. “And what happened to those who stayed behind is just as important as what’s happening to those on the ship.”
torybrooke, however, is left populated by only one series regular — Emilie de Ravin, who plays Belle — now that Meghan Ory, who was promoted for a Season 2 arc that wound up truncated, has her own series, CBS’ Intelligence (where she “handles” human computer Josh Holloway). But given that her new show shoots in Vancouver, like Once, and won’t debut until midseason, “Ruby will probably be back at some point,” Ory tells us. “She never died, so she’ll be somewhere.”
Had Ruby been able to stick around, it appears she may have found a “spark” with Victor Frankenstein Dr. Whale. “I know they were talking about exploring a relationship between us,” David Anders shared at the Upfront event for USA Network, where he now recurs on Necessary Roughness, “but Meghan just got her own show! So there’s that. But I’m so, so proud of her.”
As for his own status with Once, Anders says, “I know I’ll be back, but I can’t speak to in what capacity.”
All of which brings us back to Belle, who undoubtedly will have the Dwarfs, Archie, The Blue Fairy et al helping her watch out for other visitors from the mysterious “Home Office.”http://tvline.com/2013/05/21/once-upon-a-time-season-3-spoilers-storybrooke-belle-ruby-whale/

May 21, 2013 at 11:22 pm #195665RumplesGirlKeymasterI’ve been checking Adam’s Twitter feed a lot lately because he’s getting a lot of slack from upset Belle’s and Rumbeller’s. He keeps telling everyone that they’ll be pleasantly surprised with what they have in store for her. I think she’ll be a lookout for an episode or two, but I really suspect she’ll be leaving to embark on her own adventure in FTL to find Neal by episode 6 and then the Rumbelle reunion will be in time for holiday break.
Dr. Whale coming back is interesting. I figured we’d see him one more time at least but now I’m wonder in what regard. I thought for sure that his knowledge of science meant he might be working with the Home Office until it was revealed who THO are.

So…sounds like at that point in time anyway, there wasn’t a big plot for him. Maybe they’ll zig zag again and pick up the magic v science stuff because it could have been interesting, and would be a great way to lead into Oz perhaps.
“If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn't be. And what it wouldn't be, it would. You see?” -- Lewis Carroll, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland & Through the Looking-Glass
May 22, 2013 at 12:09 am #195669RumplesGirlKeymasterYes, he says he’ll be back but he doesn’t give any indication of when and if we’re right that S4 might be taking us to Oz, they could reintroduce him toward the later of S3.

Maybe if anything does happen with the Home Office in SB then Whale would become involved? He could help Belle (if she is still there) since he understands science and could help figure out a way to fight them.
May 22, 2013 at 1:10 am #195679RumplesGirlKeymasterIf we’re right that there are multiple branches for THO then maybe the one here in our world relies much more on science and that’s how Whale gets involved. If Belle does leave SB for her own adventure then she needs to leave someone in charge: the BF is the highest magical authority but Whale would know more science than anyone.

Lucky wench! 😉
I do hope they can keep Whale appearing now and then. Would be a waste to not involve him with THO science vs magic stuff at all, considering he’s the character who first introduced that theme to the show.
It’s bittersweet to hear that they did have plans for Frankenwolf. On the one hand, YAY coz I ship it. On the other hand, BOO coz we didn’t get to see it.
May 22, 2013 at 1:10 pm #195713RumplesGirlKeymasterMaybe when they bring back Whale they can get Meghan too and they can show that FrankenWolf is still happening even if they aren’t actually developing it on screen.

NATALIE: Just because most of the ABC’s fairy-tale drama’s main characters went through a portal to Neverland does not mean we won’t be seeing Storybrooke next season. In fact, Emilie de Ravin, whose Belle has been left in charge of the town, confirms that she’ll continue to be a series regular in Season 3. The Lost alum also notes that even though Belle’s memories are allintact, it doesn’t mean she’ll write Mr. Gold off for his actions while she was Lacey. “She was going along with it though, so therefore you can’t blame him if you’re the one saying, ‘Kick that guy’s a—,” she says, noting that Belle will be devastated about his absence when the show returns. “But also she’ll gain her strength back and she’ll have to if she’s going to protect an entire town.”"That’s how you know you’ve really got a home. When you leave it, there’s this feeling that you can’t shake. You just miss it." Neal Cassidy
