Is it just me or have each of these episodes been better than the last?! Wow this one was incredible, I loved the backstory seeing Snow meet Charming’s mother. Seeing how Snow knew she was having a girl. The Storybrooke present part between Jefferson and Grace, between Charming and Henry and between Regina and Henry though brief was also really good. The best part for me hands down was seeing the EF in the present time. The twist at the end?! Incredible didn’t see it coming till right before it happend. The mother daughter stuff between Snow and Emma was so good, especially great to see Emma realize 1. How badass her mom is and 2. That she now has a mom that’lll do anything for her.

The episode ends and they are basically back to square one and they even managed to make henry look like a little brat who just didn’t want to go to school. It was lovely to finally see Emma understanding why Snow put her in the enchanted tree and most of the characters emotionally took some steps forward but nothing surprised me (except the whole Lancelot=Cora debacle)
I understand it was a necessary episode and I am now looking forward to next week.

I remember the creators talking in an interview that the important thing is to give the audience a couple of answers and then pile on a lot more questions – JOB WELL DONE, GUYS!

I don’t see them as being back to square one, yeah the tree thing fell through but now Snow is gonna be the leader of the survivors. It seems like Cora is gonna manage to get some magic out of what remains of the tree too so you know that’s going somewhere. To me it wasn’t about Henry missing school it was about him being so desperate about just wanting to find a way to help after being dismissed by Charming so many times. It was sad to me to see how happy Regina was about Henry wanting to see her and him turning around and standing her up though.

When Emma realizes why Snow sent her away and they have that moment, I LOST it! Ugh it was amazing. And I am not even going to get into the part where Snow looks back into the nursery that could have been and….nope…I can’t continue….I am now crying.
But I also loved Charming being a good grandpa and taking care of Henry. The sword fighting episode at the end was awesome.
And seeing Jefferson and Grace reunite was great too!

Yes, I was worried about where they were going with the show now that the Curse was broken, but I’m really enjoying season 2 so far.

That was so sad to see… and then to hear what she was envisioning, teaching her to walk, talk, taking her to her first ball then to actually see it the way Emma’s nursery the way it should have been. It’s sad that Emma won’t ever see it that way. The part that got me the most was when Emma said “I’m not used to someone putting me first”

I liked the character of Lancelot and learning about James’ mother, but I fear maintaining three story lines (Enchanted Forest past, Enchanted Forest present, and Storybrooke present) might be one too many. I’d really rather see most of the screen time devoted to the events of the present in the two worlds, with as little flashback to the pre-curse events as possible, although I’m sure we’ll need a little. I thought last week’s technique of concentrating on just two story lines and just showing us the third in a final scene worked better.
The scenes between Emma and Snow were great but the amount of change and growth in the characters was not as much as what we saw in Regina last week. Of course Emma and Snow don’t have as far to go as Regina. I’m also glad we finally got to see ogres! I wonder if the writers are making Aurora such an annoying jerk so they can transform her later or if they are going to keep her annoying.
Lots of other generally good stuff in this episode. The scenes of the deserted castle were very moving and i like the way they are setting up the ongoing conflict with Cora. Finally, someone here last year posted a link to interviews with the cast (sorry I’m too lazy to go search back through the archives to find out who) in which each actor was asked what they would like the writers to do with their character in Season Two. Jared Gilmore said “I want Henry to get a sword!”. I wonder if that final scene of tonight’s episode was planned before that interview or if they decided to do it in response to his statement?

Emma was an idiot all episode long. Snow says don’t trust Cora, Emma says “hey guess what, I share a son with your daughter!” Emma is told Ogres hunt by sound, Emma shoots her gun, etc. It got real old real fast. Her attitude towards the people who actually knew what they were talking about made her look like a brat.
Aurora – I don’t think anyone needs to be told why she sucks.
Mulan – Poorly acted.
Henry – Takes advantage of his mothers love for him, skips school, refuses to ever mind his own business. Never suffers any consequences for anything he does.
Charming – Doesn’t bother sticking around to make sure Henry gets on his bus, doesn’t scold Henry for skipping school, doesn’t punish Henry for risking his life, decides to include Henry in his plans. Try some actual parenting, Charming.
The Charming/Henry plot in Storybrooke was a waste of time and didn’t amount to anything. The show should have caught us up with Rumpelstiltskin, Belle, or Red.
The past!FTL story was equally a waste. Oh no, Snow can’t have children! I wonder if she’ll ever get this fixed! Lancelot was bland, and Charming’s mother killing herself was pretty damn stupid.
All Snow/Charming flashbacks lack any tension because we know how their story ends.
On an unrelated note: The kingdoms recruit kids to fight those huge freaking ogres? Boy is Henry in for a surprise when he gets to FTL. Careful what you wish for kid.
