a bold storytelling choice would be to let that ending stand. we would have been able to see Rumplestiltskin in flashbacks or in Belle’s or Baelfire’s dreams, so even that wouldn’t be that bold a storytelling choice. but if RC would refuse to come for such little screen time because his character is dead, they had to bring him back so his screen time increases.
I agree. The story was bold in 3×11. Rumple’s sacrifice was about true heroism and reformation for the sake of saving his boy and Belle. Neal’s death was completely gratuitous and it lessens the impact of Rumple’s earlier sacrifice to save his son. This was a cop-out.
