Great news, Wonderland fans! 2010’s Alice in Wonderland movie stars are set to return to Underland as they have begun filming Alice in Wonderland: Through the Looking Glass on location and at Shepperton Studios in England.
While Tim Burton has bowed down as its director and James Bobin (The Muppets, Muppets Most Wanted) taking over, Burton is still one of the film’s producer alongside Joe Roth (Maleficent, Alice in Wonderland), Jennifer Todd (Alice in Wonderland, Memento), and Suzanne Todd (Alice in Wonderland, Memento). The 2010 hit live-action film also boasts an all-star ensemble cast returning from the previous Wonderland film including Mia Wasikowska as Alice Kingsleigh, Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter, Anne Hathaway as the White Queen, and Helena Bonham Carter as the Red Queen. Sacha Baren Cohen and Matt Lucas will also reprise their roles as Time, Tweedledee and Tweedledum.
The Alice in Wonderland: Through the Looking Glass movie will also feature extraordinary actors Stephen Fry, Toby Jones, Alan Rickman, Michael Sheen, and Timothy Spall who will lend their voices as the Cheshire Cat, Wilkins, Blue Caterpillar, the White Rabbit, and Bayard, respectively. BAFTA-winning actor, writer, and comedian Paul Whitehouse is also back as the March Hare, while Barbara Windsor is set to voice Dormouse once again. Rhys Ifans also fills the shoes of the Mad Hatter’s father, Zanik Hightopp, while Ed Speleers portrays James Harcourt in the film.
Alice in Wonderland: Through the Looking Glass is set to revisit Lewis Carroll’s classic story with an all-new tale that travels back to Underland—and back in time, this time with Alice going on a quest to help the Mad Hatter. With a screenplay penned by Linda Woolverton, Alice in Wonderland: Through the Looking Glass is slated for a May 27, 2016 theater release by Walt Disney Pictures.
