However, by rejecting Rumple’s help, Neal ended up getting caught by PP and the Lost Boys and ended up losing Henry again. At least Rumple was saying he’d changed. Even if Neal couldn’t trust Rumple, he could’ve given Rumple a chance to “prove” he’d changed just until he’d got Henry back to Emma.

But by the same token would you take that risk with your only child knowing that dead old murderous dad has killed without hesitation in the past and has always had the nasty habit of self preservation? I’m sorta with Neal on this one. You protect your child first.

Me too. I mean, I wish that Neal hadn’t done it because we, the audience, have seen all of those gentler Rumple moments and (much like Regina as audience sees her and Regina as the town see her) the other characters are in the dark about how far along, or how precarious to a bad moment, their redemption arcs are. We know this is bad for Rumple, and that Neal shouldn’t have done it…. but Neal last saw Rumple beating the snot out of Dr Whalenstein to make Lacey giggle. As far as he knows, Papa hasn’t changed despite the flashes that indicate he would like to. I’d take Henry and run like hell as well!

Exactly. And I’m a Dearie before I’m anything else and I love Rumple more than anyone on this show but I have the privilege of seeing everything. Neal only knows that his father fights to preserve his life above all else and the only thing standing in the way of his life is Henry.

Yup. And while Neal doesn’t know this, the thing that changed was the belief that Neal was dead. Rumple was trying to kill Henry up until the second he found out Neal “died.” It wasnt so much that Rumple changed as it was the circumstances changed. But I think Neal’s desperation to find his son and understanding about the lengths parents go to to protect their children is going to play a big part in an eventual understanding between PapaStiltskin and Neal.
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"October 21, 2013 at 11:28 am #217704KebParticipantI loved it but it was SO SO SO sad. Snowing’s sad because Emma’s sad because Neal (oh and Charming’s sad because Snow will be sad if he dies which he’s gonna), and Henry’s losing hope, and Neal’s sad because Rumple and Rumple’s sad because Neal and when he told BelleVision to go away cuz he was sad….I almost lost it as much as when Neal couldn’t trust him (that scene did make me start crying).
Too many sads. So many feels. Love that Pan’s the piper, love the stars, love all of them and want to give them all hugs until they aren’t sad.
Keeper of Belle's Gold magic, sand dollar, cloaks, purple FTL outfit, spell scroll, library key, copy of Romeo and Juliet, and cry-muffling pillow, Rumple's doll, overcoat, and strength, and The Timeline. My spreadsheet: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B6r8CySCCWd9R0RUNm4xR3RhMEU/view?usp=sharing

1. The cave scene. The moment when the “stars” became visible made me gasp.
2. The Neal – Rumple conversations, especially when Rumple told him about the Seer’s prophecy.
If I had to pick a least favorite, it would be Regina’s reaction when she learned Greg was dead. I loved Lana’s performance but I seem to be in a very small minority that had some sympathy for Greg. I wondered if Regina would have a moment of regret, thinking back that her actions in “Welcome to Storybrooke” had helped to put Owen on the path to what he became. Not that she wouldn’t have killed him in a heartbeat if necessary to save Henry, but I did hope her ongoing redemption would lead her to acknowledge her own contribution to his fanaticism.

We got a lot of moments we really needed- so many heartfelt emotions- confrontation between Neal and Rumple, the whole dynamic with the Charmings, learning more about Neal in Neverland….*sniffle*
And as a RumBelle fan…wow, those Vision Belle moments…. was it just me or did Belle seem a little off there? Was it because she’s a product of Rumple’s own mind or is there more to her than meets the eye? A lot of RumBellers are upset that he dismissed her at the end, but I think the reason he did that is because he didn’t believe what she was saying about him, and he was ashamed that he was having second thoughts about saving Henry now that he knew his son lived.
They really made you feel for Rumple in this episode, although you really can’t blame Neal for how he reacted. Neal is very smart! I love how he outsmarted Pan with the arrow.
You know, I’m actually glad we aren’t getting too many sneak peeks this year- a lot more things are catching me offguard and I’m liking it that way.

I think she’s providing some good insight into his conflicting emotions. In 302 she was all, “You’re afraid you’ll make the selfish choice. You abandoned Bae, don’t do the same to Henry. Let go of the past.” And in 304 she was all, “Don’t forget the prophecy, you’ve gotta come back to me.” If she chops and changes in mood a bit, that just goes to show how completely confused and conflicted he is. But then she’s also always insisting that he CAN do the right thing, which shows that he’s still got that glimmer of hope buried inside, despite his confusion. It’ll be interesting to see if Belle’s words devolve and become a negative influence, the longer he’s in NL.
As for him sending her away, I don’t think it’s anything personal against Belle, he’s just having one of those moments where the back and forth arguing in your head gets too much and you’re all, “ENOUGH, JUST SHUT UP!” (I have these moments regularly, the constant back and forth of a Pisces brain can be freaking infuriating.)

Yes, I think it’s exactly that. He doesn’t want to have this conversation right now. I really want to learn more about the dynamic with vision Belle. So curious!

I totally agree. Whatever Belle says is really what Rumple is telling himself t the moment. VisionBelle isn’t really BELLE but is his inner self going back and forth over the right course of action. She’s not supposed to sound like our real Belle.
(doesn’t mean all of this didn’t really hurt my innards last night)
