    The second two pics look darker, like it’s later in the day, and in the top pic, the circle is glowing with red in the centre, but in the other one, it’s got the dark stuff flowing in from the edges. Feels like two separate incidents, perhaps? Maybe BelleFire try something but it doesn’t work, and then later on Zelena comes to finish it off?

    I just noticed but does Rumple look…greengold…in his “resurrection” pics

    Oh he’s totally the Dark One in that scene IMO. That’s not mortal Rumple being brought back, it’s the Dark One.

    Also, looking at the pics again, I noticed that the Ouroboros part around the edge doesn’t even appear to be there in the BelleFire shot.

    It also looks raised, so yeah, something magic-y happens and Rumple…POOFs? into existence?

    The bit in the middle, that’s glowing red in the BelleFire pic, is a sun design if you look at the overhead shot. You think “sun” you think happy, bright, eternal flame. When the symbology of the Ouroboros is added around the outside, maybe it’s just me, but the vibe of the whole thing takes on a darker feel. Maybe BelleFire were trying to do it the sunshiney way, and that just doesn’t work, you need the rest of it to pop up around the outside or nothing will happen, and the thing that happens inevitably isn’t so sunshiney.

    As the fire burns, the snow melts around the circle revealing the full alchemy. I don’t see it raising up. I see the center sinking, then filling with dark waters. Possibly like the waters that bring back that which was once lost.

    I really don’t want a resurrection. I just want Rumple found alive.

    Waters = River Styx?

    Resurrection is creepy because it goes against “dead is dead”

    And Zelenas “oops!” As she’s looking into a pool of water, has she dropped something into the water? Like a dagger? These promos are really fun to pick apart. I’m always wrong, but it’s fun anyway.

    Her “oops” seems ironic to me–like “yes, I totally meant to do that but I’m wicked so I’ll say this instead of GOTCHA!”

    I think at that time, she may have just taken either Neal’s heart or his totem (making him the Tin Man reverse like Charming is the Lion reverse) OR she’s just managed to get the dagger and is controlling Rumple.

    That would be a clever way of tying in classic mythology. We’ve seen the writers do just that with the siren.

    Normally, I’d agree. Yet, Rumple is still the Dark One and therefore still immortal. I don’t think he died when he stabbed himself; I think he was simply transported to the underworld and would have been cursed to remain there for all eternity had he not be rescued.

    I’m inclined to believe this. They can’t keep breaking their own rules: “oh dead is dead except in these following cases. Blue? Didn’t die just had her shadow ripped off so toss a coconut into a fire. No don’t ask us about Greg.”

    I mentioned this theory quite a bit over hiatus but it could be a gender swapped (+son) version of Orpheus and Eurydice, in which Orpheus tries to resurrect his dead lover–which also fails because Orpheus looks back before fully out of the underworld, but in this case it could “fail” because the WW gets to Rumple first.
