Liked:
– Regina’s been on my likes a lot lately and that’s because they’re doing her redempetion arc the right way. Slow with a few hurdles and setbacks along the way, but steady and without losing the snarky sass her character has.
– Grumpy shouting town announcements. Those never get old. 😀
– Ok ok it was cheesy and more of a reference to the book than anything, but I LOVED the melting scene.
– Rumbelle!! Please may they never be seperated ever again!!!
– I was totally right about the costumes representing the 4 elements (green-earth, white-water, grey-air, gold-fire). Come on, I never get anything right on this show, let me have my moment ok.
Disliked:
-Emma losing her magic. I don’t know if I should assume she will get it back at one point, but if she doesn’t, it’s wasted potential once more.
On the fence:
– Emma not saving the day and not having magic anymore. I mean I loved that Regina found the light magic within herself, but really everything reversed, inlcuding flying monkey friends, EXCEPT Emma’s magic? How convenient. Or inconvenient depending on how you look at it.
– Rumple killing Zelena. I mean heck yeah! KILL that witch! But also, he betrayed Belle’s trust. 🙁 And unleashed God knows what. BUT it was in character for once and we haven’t seen much of that in anyone the last couple of eps. It’s just so sad that he a used a trick that his FATHER of all people taught him to deceive Belle. AFTER he proposed to her!
– Dorothy. I didn’t much care for her one way or the other.

Everything SB Related…least till the ending.
Dislikes:
Everything Oz Related….Congrats Adam and Eddy, you’ve made L Frank Baum roll over in his grave more times than a roasting pig.
#TwoFacedShadyGlinda….Did anyone else get that MeanGirls Movie Feeling when watching Glinda and the other witches? Sorta glad Zelena banished her.
Rumple proposing to Belle, and lying to her face….not even going to comment.
Rumple killing Zelena(Regina’s only blood left), and setting off another chain of unfortunate events…Will not comment

Charming family reunion at the hospital. So sweet!
Henry’s speech to Regina. I liked this one a lot better than the one at the end of 3A.
Hook’s curse being “resolved”
Hook calling Emma out on the NYC nonsense
Regina giving Belle the DO dagger.
Regina being the one to defeat Zelena (seemed fitting) and tapping into light magic because of the love she has let into her heart.
Disliked:
Emma losing her magic. With or without TLK I felt that Emma’s magic should have been stronger than Zelena’s dark magic curse.
Emma not being the one to defeat Zelena – I know this is flip floppy of me because I liked that Regina did but seemed that there was all this build up with Emma learning magic and being the saviour again that resulted in nothing.
Oz stuff – Disliked is probably a bit strong but most of it felt unnecessary. I also think Glinda seemed shady.
More smoke monster
Rumple lying to Belle during his proposal about killing Zelena. I am not even a huge Rumbelle fan and this just ugh. No further comment.

If Belle and Rumple are going to work, Belle needs to stop being a doormat. The change has got to come from Belle as well as from Rumple. We got a taste of this when Belle (finally) lashed out at Regina for holding her captive for so long. I would like to see Belle and Rumple together, but maybe in a healthy relationship? He either needs to turn good, or she needs to turn bad.

Zelena: What does the West represent?
Glinda: The most elusive of elements: Innocence.
Zelena: Well, then, I’m the last person that you should consider. I mean, look at me. I’m annoying.
Maybe we could all build up a thesaurus as a summer project.

BRILLIANT
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"May 6, 2014 at 11:22 pm #267100sweetgrassParticipantI went in with low expectations, like I’ve done for the last episodes and ended up enjoying the episode.
I saw the mega spoilery excerpt with Regina taking down Zelena so that might have prepared me. I like the underlying message that everyone has a choice to become a better person and embrace a better future. I think it is realistic that some people can’t embrace a brighter future because they can only see themeselves by how they have been previously defined. Zelena grew up with a “father” that always thought her magic was evil. Zelena internalized that and can’t see herself as something other than evil. I liked that Rumple told her nothing would change because she was the same person. I liked that Regina refused to be defined by Zelena.
However, while I feel most people deserve redemption and opportunity to grow and change, I think that people should also be held accountable for their deeds and face the consequences of their actions. That is where I have trouble with Regina becoming the bearer of the strongest white magic. It’s way too much and far too soon. Actually, I don’t think Regina or Rumple should ever be capable of white magic. Through her use of dark magic, Regina has gotten everything and I actually found it rich that she would lecture both Rumble and Zelena about seeking revenge, especially since Regina is now good because she got her son and a new love (Robin). Her experience shows the exact opposite. If Zelena had killed Henry you know Regina would want revenge as well.
I think the writers need to do a better job making sure that everyone gets to shine when they take down a villain. I want the non-magical people that bring down the villain.
I think the thing with this show is that if you go with the flow and not think too deeply it works. The cast is stellar. I loved the pained expression on Rumple’s face when he is hugging Belle. He knows what he is going to do will break her heart and that pains him, but not enough to stop him. Belle has always had a huge blind spot when it comes to Rumple. Hopefully this will open her eyes and she can become a more interesting character. Rumple has always played her by doing things behind her back, so to me this is more of the same. And hopefully, Rumple goes back to being his sneaky manipulative self.
I actually think that the planned Rumple arc is why Bae needed to die for story reasons. Rumple works best when he is being manipulative and when he is mostly pursuing his own interests and Carlyle wants to play tormented evil Rumple. Rumple reverting to his darker impulses makes sense with Bae’s death. It also makes the Rumple Belle relationship interesting.
I loved Charming in this episode, although his suggestion that Emma take Hook was not a bright one. Hook is the one person that can take Emma’s powers. I did like that Regina and Emma erected a magic barrier.
I felt for Hook at the end as he watched the Charming family. Hook can’t catch a break no matter what he does.
I liked the Oz flashbacks. I wonder if the totems also represents the witches –love/heart, brain/wisdom, innocence/baby charming and I forgot what Glenda was but wonder if it ties into courage.
Keeper of Hook and Emma's smoldering first kiss, a certain Pirate's sauciness, the Evil Queen's snarkiness, Grumpy's gruffness and a drop of true love to make it all go down smooth.

Loved Snowing in this episode and at the end where they had the baby and are reunited. Loved Regina giving Zelena a second chance but still having her sass:)
Disliked- Rumbelle scene-would of loved it except for the fact that Rumple wasn’t actually proposing to Belle and betrayed her trust 🙁
Also, Zelena I still don’t feel bad for her—she goes on how Regina never appreciated what she had, when what she doesn’t realize is she had many things that Regina didn’t—like a loving mother who raised her in OZ who accepted her as she was.
Also, I thought Rumple promised Bae he would STOP Zelena not KILL her unless I am remembering 315 wrong.
Anyway, looking forward to the finale.
May 8, 2014 at 3:43 am #267440Lady KParticipantFavorite: the conversation between Rumpel and Regina at the end of the episode. Those two really bring in all their history to every conversation where they connect. Rumpel’s face when he couldn’t believe Regina was going to protect Zelena and not let him kill her — priceless. 🙂
Least Favorite: the switching of the daggers. Why, Rumpel, why??? The only reason to switch the daggers would be to invite heartache. Rumpel is usually so smart, and if he’d given it a moment’s thought he would have realized switching the daggers would only set them up for heartbreak. Instead, just take the dagger, say thank you and kill Zelena. I mean, come on, would anyone have really blamed him?

I completely agree, sweetgrass.
I’m really happy that I wasn’t the only one completely thrown by Regina ever wielding light magic. And I’m glad that someone else believes that both Regina and Rumpel should never reach that point of purity. (I sometimes feel so alone here. My opinion always feels fairly unpopular. 🙁 ) After massacring people, manipulating lives, killing kids, etc, I agree that they really don’t deserve that type of purity, and it’s just bad writing to fit it in so soon if at all.)
