#BOOM! 4×17 Heart of Gold Is A Robin Hood Centric!!!

Good catch @wickedregal. Robin Hood needs a backstory episode so badly. If he had one on Wonderland but I don’t think many Oncers watched Wonderland.

Looks like this is definitely Robin Hood centric, according to this tweet between Kalinda Vazquez and Scott Nimerfro

.@ScottNimerfro very excited for your upcoming episode sir. Going to be an outlaw of a good time 😉

This makes sense, given the behind the scenes pics of Robin and his family in NYC recently.

This will either go absolutely great, or horribly wrong…either way, It will definitely be interesting to FINALLY see Robin Hood’s dark, mysterious past and what lead him to becoming an Outlaw!

I agree. This episode is either going to make OQ a lot more even-footed and interesting or it’s going to emphasise the differences to the point that OQ takes a nose dive.

    That too.

So this episode seems to be about Robin Hood, and I’m guessing, his dealings with Mr. Gold. Based on recent behind-the-scene pictures, I guess Robin Hood and Mr. Gold meet up in NYC.

I was thinking about the title for 4×17. While I know the back-story will likely refer to Robin Hood, intermixed with his dealings with Mr. Gold in Manhattan, I’m also starting to think the current-day story in SB will all refer to Emma. I think the title has multiple meanings.

My theory is based on a few things.

    – We’ve heard Mr. Gold & Maleficent say that Emma has the heart with the darkest potential.
    – We saw the Chernabog go after Emma, which would seem to confirm that her heart does indeed have the darkest potential.
    – We’ve already gotten a glimpse of exactly what is needed to give the villains their advantage based on the “Dark Side” promo for 4b. Mr. Gold’s plan is to use the QoD to corrupt Emma Swan, because it’s her heart which is needed to turn the tides to give the villains their happy endings. In the promo, Rumple said,

There are three ways to corrupt a hero, three ways to tarnish a savior. For Cruella, Ursula, and Maleficent to attain their happy endings, we must find someone whose heart can be molded, someone who’s heart is brimming with blackness, who’s ready to walk on the dark side.

-It sounds to me like what Mr. Gold is actually seeking isn’t just using Emma’s magic for dark purposes. To me, it sounds like what Mr. Gold is actually seeking is Emma’s literal heart. Now, I know Cora was unable to take Emma’s heart, precisely because Emma is the product of true love. But what if she were able to remove her own heart willingly, the way Henry was able to remove his own heart to give to Peter Pan? And I predict that we’ll see Emma’s heart, and that it’s going to be the color gold, like Henry’s is. Hence the title Heart of Gold.
-Now there are theories that the villains will actually succeed by the season finale, meaning even former villains like the Evil Queen, get their happiness, but at the expense of the heroes. For this to be the case, the QoD and Rumple’s plan in corrupting the heart of the savior would actually have to succeed. Emma will willingly remove her own heart, it will be gold in nature to start, but as she slowly crosses over to the dark side, it will become darkened, thereby enabling Gold’s dark magic to change the story so that the odds are stacked against the heroes, rather than the villains, in getting their happy endings.

Interesting theory, and it would be intriguing if that were to happen. However, I think the title is more likely a reference to the whole “Thief with a Heart of Gold” trope, which applies to Robin Hood.
