it's at the beginning and is the backdrop for the musical/snowing's wish. it also sets off the stuff in the present time.

It seems going from everyone there including hardcore Buffy fans this musical is better than Once More with Feeling.

Doubt it. First off, you’ve only got a relatively small audience, who are probably predominately CS. Secondly, probably an even smaller number consider themselves Buffy fans. Therefore you can only base your assumption that this musical “is better than Once more with feeling” on the words of people who are BOTH Buffy and OUAT fans otherwise you have an unfair bias eg non-Buffy fans would say it’s better than OMWF whilst non-OUAT fans would say its worse.

Now the people who are both OUAT fans AND Buffy fans may have enjoyed it more than OMWF and that’s fine, that’s their opinion, but to make a sweeping statement that ” this musical is better than OMWF” is a bit of a stretch.

Another point that should be considered is HYPE. It’s new, it’s exciting, let’s see 15 years (more like even 2 months) how does it stand against OMWF. From the little I’ve seen so far (2 songs and the “love is the more powerful magic of all”), I really don’t think it’s going to be better, it seems really cheesy and corny, whic OMWF isn’t because Joss made sureto put dark themes into the songs (estrangement, depression and abuse) while OUAT uses the same themes they used for their characters (Hook -revenge, Regina – hate for the charmings, Snowing – love, Emma – lonliness) because this is what their characters are about and nothing more. In adfition, while Colin, who is probably their best singer, has a great talented voice, he is nowhere near the level of James Masters, Tony Head and Amber Benson.

OMWF was born from Joss Whedon’s passion while OUAT’s musical seems more like a gimmick.

If there was a Like button for this post, I would be pressing it.

I agree with everything you’ve said. None of the OUAT songs are memorable unlike the Buffy ones.

I don’t know where to put this, but Eddy talking about their writing week at around 6:15 before the season starts and he mentions Emma dying as being part of their plan for the season. Ginny starts laughing then they try and play it off. After actually seeing it, i am still not sure what to think. I sort of think Eddy is an idiot, but he still might have just meant Emma’s will she won’t she die arc and called it Emma dying in short hand. They were really trying to cover hard for it though. I don’t know.

Emma might die, but everyone dies on this show and comes back except Neal and Graham.
