Meh 6/10.
Too many plot holes.
1) THE BIGGEST ONE OF ALL:
A year or two ago, I theorised that all these realms and characters are powered by belief, and that if that disappeared, then the realms and the characters would disappear too, like the Never Ending Story. When I postulated this theory, I said that belief would come from people in our world, the LWM. However, these two episodes showed that the belief comes from the Saviour. This makes no sense, since these realms existed BEFORE the Saviour(s) existed, and not every realm had Saviours all the time. I still like my theory better, as it fits better.
2) All Henry had to do was wait for the nurse to walk away and then open the story book in front of Emma to the pages with her in it, and the recent ones at that. The whole episode, there was strange excuses/distractions preventing Emma from opening the book. The one at the beginning (as mentioned) was Henry’s stupidity, which I cannot believe matches his personality.
3) Other disappointments:
-We didn’t get to learn why Robin Hood and Zelena would exist at the same time, even though LWM came to know about them centuries apart.
-I would have liked to have seen Robin Hood again so that some version of Regina could get proper proposal. (Better yet, the original version of Regina should have been proposed to).
-Evil! Regina robs from the rich to give to the poor while dressed in all her finery??? Not a good way to advertise your true intentions, and a great way to advertise who you are to the people who are hunting you. LOL
-CGI…my eyes bled.
As usual, I was entertained, but was too distracted by the plot holes and so on to enjoy it completely.

That did not make me happy, I was going, so what, killing someone for TL (of his wife/kid supposedly) now counts as worthy of a TL curse-breaking powers?! *laughs* They really should have made that distinct… They have ended so many curses with TLK I can’t recall what it has looked like when they did not use it. Those should really be more distinguishable…. 😉
May 16, 2017 at 11:09 am #338744thedarkonedearieParticipantI was so glad that Emma and Hook were never proved to be true love.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I thought the show proved they were true love in the episode Firebird. Or do you conveniently forget that?
Ok, so here’s quickly what I thought:
Part 1: 5/10
– I thought this half was garbage. It was basically Henry telling Emma to believe and Emma telling Henry what he was saying wasn’t real and didn’t happen. The whole adventure with Hook and Charming was bad. The bean was useless and wasn’t even used. They just needed some sort of filler in the EF.
However, I loved Jefferson’s hat and seeing all the realms again. And I loved that the new curse would take away all the realms. That’s huge.
Part 2: 8/10
Liked:
– The final battle- I thought I was going to hate that there wouldn’t be an actual battle. But I actually ended up liking it. I liked that the final sentence was that both evil and good made the right decision and the final battle was won and they lived happily ever after…or something like that. I thought that both sides, good and bad (Rumple and Emma) coming together to make the right decision, made a lot of sense and I liked it.
– The EQ being back and getting out of the wish realm, and finding love with Robin Hood…Oh and sacrificing herself.
– Rumple making the right choice. I thought this was an incredible way to end his character. He truly could have had everything but he made the right choice in the end and while he didn’t get to see Neal again, he was rewarded by getting to raise Gideon with Belle.
– The stakes were high for a series finale I thought. ALL the realms and the people in it would be destroyed. The book was destroyed. The black smoke approaching them was more ominous. EQ was holding it off. Doors were disappearing. Black Fairy was going to destroy everything so that the laws of magic wouldn’t apply to her and she could bring people back from the dead….and she dangled this in front of Rumple who could get Neal back. Good stuff for a series finale.
– Rumple and Belle get a fresh start with Gideon. I’m still a little unclear why he was returned to baby form. I guess since his mission the Black Fairy imposed on him was complete and Black Fairy was dead, him being aged up in the dark realm with her was all reversed. I can buy it simply bc I love that they get to raise him now together. I actually thought the end to their arc was the best here. Although, I kind of wish Black Fairy had killed Belle instead of making her a shut in. It would make sense that she wouldn’t want Belle around bc Gideon would never look at Black Fairy as his true mother, and Black Fairy, being the one who raised him, would be jealous of this. And then Rumple killing her who feel even more justified. But nope. Just shut in Belle.
Mixed:
– Emma should have died. This is Harry Potter all over again. Like the sacrifice but hate the resurrection. Henry kissing her was nice, but it was so fast, as opposed to when Emma kissed Henry when she realized he had died. And she slowly walks up to his hospital bed in tears. Here, Emma dies and Henry just kisses her so fast…it felt incredibly rushed.
Disliked:
– So TLK can bring people back from the dead? The fact that Snow’s kiss saved Charming from death is ridiculous. The fact that Henry’s kiss saved Emma from death is ridiculous. I know technically Emma saved Henry’s life when she kissed him, but it made sense that she saved his life bc it broke the curse! There was no curse here when Henry kissed Emma. The curse was already broken when Black Fairy was killed.
– How was Rumple able to avoid the curse? Why didn’t the curse affect Henry? Was his punishment that he would be the only one who knew the truth? I don’t get it.
– The kiss reversal between Snow and Charming was forced. The kiss reversal between Henry and Emma was good, but felt rushed and I still think Emma should have just died.
– Hook surviving the massive beanstalk fall. Like seriously?
– Belle and her foot injury. Lol. Get her off the show.
– Black Fairy was defeated way too easily. With such high stakes, I feel like a mini battle could have taken place with Rumple and Black Fairy.
I honestly don’t know how I feel about the reboot. I’m glad that a bunch of the characters aren’t back bc it gives them room to tell original stories again and not write the same flashback of Snow being hunted by the EQ. However, although it appears it will be the same premise, I hope it isn’t. Obviously they can’t do a dark curse again where everyone forgets who they are, etc. So hopefully they can spin something new. I will watch it, but am very pessimistic on how it will be. But having arguably the three biggest fan favorites (Rumple, Regina, Hook) come back will help a little I think.
May 16, 2017 at 1:06 pm #338776hjbauParticipantThe episode where Emma saved Hook from dying when she would have saved anyone no matter who they were stranger or not? Yeah, that proves nothing, in my opinion, and the language of the scene did not prove true love. They never true love kissed. They never had a magical object of their true love pass between curses.
Emma’s is special. The daughter of Snow and Charming. All special true love baby. The savior. The product of true love attached to the curse. Heart can’t be taken by anyone. Heart full of special love music since before she was born. That Emma did have love in her heart, but it was not about Hook.
Emma says that she loves Hook, so i will take her at her word, but that doesn’t mean it is special curse defying magical true love like Emma had with Henry and Snow had with Charming and Rumpel had with Belle and Emma had with Baelfire.
This is one of those things. I am not going to change my mind and neither are you, so i am going to leave it at this.

Well that’s just not true. I forget a lot of what happens in Firebird when Emma and Hook are in the caves in the UW. I just thought that they had to use a heart or whatever and place it on the scale and then something happened that I thought meant that their love was true love which allowed them to pass the test and open the next door. Obviously I need to rewatch it. If I’m wrong then I’m wrong. But I thought it was definitive that they had to have true love otherwise it wouldn’t have worked.
May 16, 2017 at 1:34 pm #338786hjbauParticipantYeah, Emma had to have true love in her heart. She had already performed true love’s kiss with Henry many years ago, so she already had true love in her heart.

I don’t know for sure and haven’t re-watched yet, but I thought the curse broke because someone (Rumple) killed the person who cast it (Black Fairy). Presumably if Snow and Charming had offed Regina back during season one’s curse then that curse would’ve broken at that moment too? Are we 100% sure that only true love’s kiss (as inconsistent as it is) can break the dark curse? Killing the curser seems like a reasonable plan B to me.

Ingrid killing herself also broke the spell of shattered sight, if that means anything. Do we know any other examples of killing a magic user stopping their magic in this show? I think Killing Medusa saved Charming, right?

Ok, but that is not what the show was implying at all in that moment and you know that. Like come on.

It’s happened a lot on the show. My only answer is that the original dark curse needed TLK but not all curses do. I’m trying to think of other examples but it definitely has happened. Was Agrabah restored once Jafar was defeated? When Pan’s shadow was “killed”, Blue Fairy was no longer “dead.” Also when Arthur was killed, presumably Guineviere’s curse was lifted as was Camelot’s right? I know we didn’t see that but still.
