I said the same thing a season or two ago. For me, it was adding a comic element to the EQ. Ruined everything, the performance and the character. I feel like the EQ now belongs on stage for a children’s Christmas pantomime. And maybe that is it…maybe there are a significant number of under 12s in the remaining audience? Bad move, if you want to keep your adult audience and keep the show slick.
From that particular performance in video 3, the actress comes across of being sick of the character (or the way her character’s story is going/has gone) and is just going through the motions.

February 27, 2017 at 1:12 am #333606TheWatcherParticipantI too have said the same about a lot of the actors on this show. Not just Regina but sometimes it really feels like Emma, Rumple, and even Snow are just really phoning it in. The acting has gotten a bit lackluster through the years.

Keeper Of Tamara's Taser , Jafar's Staff, Kitsis’s Glasses , Ariel’s Tail, Dopey's Hat , Peter Pan’s Shadow, Outfit, & Pied Cloak,Red Queen's Castle, White Rabbit's Power To World Hop, Zelena's BroomStick, & ALL MAGICFebruary 27, 2017 at 2:24 am #333608hjbauParticipantFor me, it is less that Emma, Snow, and Rumpel are just phoning it in and more that their characters have no heart anymore. The writing is bad. There is nothing in the writing that is interesting anymore, so there is nothing interesting to act. Snow hasn’t had a story arc for seasons and Emma and Rumpel’s are both a mess.

Now it’s done and they’re just trying to drag it to another season which I think is silly. Just end it. Any other showrunner would have thought of a final 13 episode run to wrap up these characters but only these two clowns would say lets reinvent the show. Yes because as we know that has worked SO well in the past.
February 27, 2017 at 7:45 am #333613sciencevsmagicParticipantI don’t think Lana’s performance as the EQ has been cringe worthy. Quite the contrary – I think she’s brought an energy to her scenes that the other cast have all been lacking. Maybe that’s why S6 has felt so flat to me. I thought the script was mostly to blame, but the acting has been lackluster, except for the EQ.
February 27, 2017 at 9:02 am #333614RainbowParticipantThat promo specific something’s, first she hints something that for some their happy ever after is coming, and usually in a story that means is the end of that story, and then second that for others the final chapter is also coming, which means for me, having their story cut in the middle not having a HEA, and means dying, which once again, suggest that maybe most character stories will end this season for good or for bad.
Starting to even doubt they will have a s7 now, not totally sure anymore of that."I offended you with my opinion? Ha, you should hear the ones I keep to myself".
February 27, 2017 at 9:43 am #333616hjbauParticipantI think at this point, the best we can hope for is that Eddy and Adam don’t show run anymore. It is hard because they write supernatural/fantasy shows when so few shows are like that, but they do it so badly that they should just not be allowed to show run. They should just go back to writing.
They are actually pretty good writers. Their episodes are usually pretty good, but they have no business running a show and after the quick cancellation of Dead of Summer and Once in Wonderland only getting one season, and now with the mess that Ouat has become, i can only hope that ABC just lets them go after Ouat is over.

Yeah I usually think the episodes they write are pretty good. But you’re right, they should not be showrunners anymore. Although lately….I haven’t felt that way. This year, I actually didn’t like the midseason finale. I also didn’t like Street Rats. I also didn’t love the finale of last year. The last one I liked was probably Souls of the Departed. I don’t know. The show has become flat so the material is flat. When a story runs it’s course, it isn’t even the writers fault anymore. The show has gone on too long and has become stale, therefor the writing has become stale, therefor the acting has become stale. It’s a domino effect. They need to just move on and allow OUAT to die with a shrivel of dignity while it still can.
February 27, 2017 at 10:58 am #333619hjbauParticipantThe entire problem of this show is that the writers don’t sit down and figure out where their characters are at and how they would react to what just happened to them, for example, going to hell, almost dying, being the dark one, having a second child, abandonment issues, then try to figure out what stories they could use to facilitate showing where their characters are at. Instead, they do it backwards. They think of the story they went to do next, like Camelot and then make the characters fit the plot, so that the writers can write about Camelot.
That just does not work. It isn’t, in my opinion, that this show has tired itself out, though at this point it is too late, but that the show does not write character, so it has just become this monotonous thing where the new characters are constantly appearing, characters we don’t care about, and then they show their story and the characters leave without any real growth from the main cast, the characters we actually care about. And most of us care about the characters because in the first few seasons their stories, their decisions, actually drove the plot, but it has been seasons since that was the case.
Now the plot is entirely moved forward by external things that happen to them, like Hyde coming to town or Gideon being kidnapped or the Evil Queen cursing Snow and Charming. The characters did choose to separate the Reginas, but the only consequence has been the Snow and Charming curse and that will be done in one episode and be forgotten. They have not used the two Reginas being separated to show us anything new about Regina as a character and where she is at characterwise. That is true of all the characters. These things happen to them and then the plot moves on and it is forgotten.
