Riddles are fun. December 15, 1901 was a Sunday, not a Wednesday, so I don’t know what Isaac’s license plate means, but it obviously means something. Maybe the wedding happens at 7:01 PM on December 15th? Or is this a Lost reference?
–This is super nitpicky but I hate Emma’s magic. All it is is a stream of white light.
That and a facial expression that proclaims severe discomfort from intestinal gas.
Blackbeard and Hook had an interesting interaction
Lando and Han, playing for the Falcon.
Belle, he is your son why is it that your husband with the black heart has more faith in him than you do and why are you not sticking up for him. So what is your solution just give up on him?
In real life, if a family member has tried to murder people and might try again, it’s good to get help for the family member, but that must not be the priority. David Kaczynski knew this about his brother Ted, for instance.

Aha! And December 15th (1966) is the end of that story and the beginning of Isaac’s story.

April 10, 2017 at 10:04 am #335776MattParticipantWow, I am shocked that people are giving this lower than an 8. I was gripped the whole way through – compared to last weeks episode this was a million times better. Interesting directing, gripping plot, multiple storylines that didn’t actually feel thrown together and some big development on the show mythology.
I haven’t loved an episode of this show so much for a long long time. Just a shame that they can’t pull out episodes like this every week.
And I got goosebumps when Emma and Rumple teamed up!
April 10, 2017 at 12:56 pm #335787PriceofMagicParticipantThis has been the best episode of season 6 so far. I’m giving it an 8.
Liked
Gideon’s backstory- What the Black Fairy is doing to him is abuse. I’m not just talking about the heart taking, but about the fact that the Black Fairy is emotionally manipulating him and controlling him. She’s blaming him for Roderick’s death and making him feel responsible because he didn’t do what she said. That is full blown abusive behaviour. How the show handles it remains to be seen as these writers aren’t known for tackling issues such as this delicately. However, this completely paints Emma and Snow in a bad light which I’ll get to later.
Gideon calling Emma out on her self-righteous behaviour- It was about time someone did.
Rumple standing up for Gideon and basically telling Emma to back off from threatening his son- I’m team Rumple on this one. Also Rumple just saved Emma’s life literally, she should be more grateful instead of threatening to kill Gideon. Rumple’s already lost one son because of Emma, he shouldn’t lose a second one too.
Mixed
Belle- I don’t get why Belle is being so passive when it comes to threats against Gideon. The Belle of season 2 would be pro-active in trying to find a way to help her son and save him, not sat around wringing her hands going “I hope he’s going to be ok”. At the very least she should be alongside Rumple telling Emma to back off from threatening Gideon, not standing meekly in the corner. This is supposed to be the same woman who made a deal with the dark one to save her town from ogres.
Hook’s scenes- I just thought they were unnecessary for this episode. In fact, we could’ve possibly saved time by just having Hook get a magic bean from Agrabah to Neverland then being chased by the lost boys. Blackbeard wasn’t really necessary and I think it’s only because he bears a resemblance to the traditional captain Hook that he was there. Also Hook saying that the “worst” of the Lost Boys stayed on Neverland. Well, Felix probably could’ve counted as one of those as he was the most loyal to Pan, yet he was dragged away from Neverland against his will. In fact the heroes would’ve been better off leaving Felix in Neverland as it was his heart that enabled Pan to cast Dark curse 2.0.
Forgotten characters reappearing- We had Ariel last episode, Tinkerbell and George in previous episodes, now we’ve had Isaac and Blackbeard this episode. It’s nice to see the characters again but it does kind of feel like “The show is ending so we’re going to cameo as many characters as we can”.
Disliked
Emma- She just seems to get more unlikeable with each passing episode. She’s threatening to kill the son of RumBelle before and after Rumple saves her life. All she cares about is Hook to the exclusion of everything else. Gideon could’ve killed Hook rather than banishing him, yet Emma acts as if Gideon committed the worst crime ever. The fact that its been revealed Gideon was and still is currently a victim of abuse also makes Emma look worse when she threatens him. There is a difference between Emma maybe having to kill him in a situation to protect herself but she is going out of her way to threaten killing him.

Keeper of FelixApril 10, 2017 at 1:05 pm #335789PriceofMagicParticipantTest because I had a post and now it’s disappeared. Super annoyed, this is why I don’t post often any more. 1. because of the declining quality of the show and it’s hard to get excited about it any more, and 2. Because these forums always seem to be buggering up in some form.
To sum up what I wrote:
Best episode of season 6 so far.
I like Gideon and Rumple for standing up to Emma. Gideon is a victim of abuse from the back fairy and it paints Emma in a bad light when she threatens him like she does.
I wish Belle would be less passive when it comes to threats towards her son.
Hook’s scenes were unnecessary and time could’ve been saved by having him get a bean straight from Agrabah to Neverland.
Bringing back certain characters does make it feel like the show is ending for good and they’re cameoing past characters as a last visit.
I dislike Emma and she gets more unlikeable with each passing episode.

Overall 7.5/10
Liked:
– Finally something makes sense! The black fairy having Gideon’s heart. I’m totally OK with that.
– Rumple standing up for his family. You go Rumple!
– The black fairy. Jaime Murray did a great job. Her “my son” and twisted voice tones gave her a Cora-ish vibe. I still miss Cora.
– Giles acting. Quality acting, enjoyed very much. Also having Robert Carlyle back definitely helped the episode feel more solid.
-Issac, nice comic relief. Also enjoyed seeing the nurse and mop man back. That mop man cracks me up every time.
Mixed:
– The dark fairy realm. As many pointed out, it didn’t give me the creepy vibes and using the dwarf mines set seemed like a lazy approach. They could have gone with pitch dark room with red candles and black hooded people or something to give it a “darker” feel, but oh well at least they didn’t re-use Storybrooke with the lights off or something.
-Belle. Oh jeez…stand up for your family ala Snow.
– So the black fairy created the dark curse… hmm ok I could go with it but I am afraid they are just gonna rush that plot seeming that there’s only a few episodes left.
– Next week’s preview. Another time jump? c’mon, we had enough of those.
Dislike:
– Another magic bean? I guess Rumple didn’t look as hard as he said for them back in S1.
– Split storylines. Overall the different plot lines felt too messy, rushed and crowded. The Neverland-Hook-Blackbeard scenes weren’t that interesting, I hope they don’t spend too much time on them next week. Anyhow, they should have done Regina/Henry or Neverland/Hook not both.
– Emma. Agree with PriceOfMagic, Emma keeps getting more unlikeable as the story progresses. I also can’t seem to like her recent outfit+makeup choices, not very fitting for her current “personality”, there’s just something about it that feels off to me.

Yeah. At least Isaac’s appearance made more sense than Tink’s.

Ok, we are back people.
Liked:
– The Black Fairy/Gideon flashback. I thought the actor who plays Gideon did a great job in the episode. Jamie Murray reminds me a little of an over the top Cersei Lannister, which is a good thing. But I thought Gideon was excellent, especially in the scenes with his childhood friend and when Black Fairy crushes him.
– Black Fairy created the dark curse. YES!
– Makes so much more sense now that we know that Black Fairy was controlling Gideon. But we also know Gideon does have a soft spot for her. It makes his character so much more interesting.
– Rumple/Emma dynamic. I loved that Rumple saved Emma. And then they both used magic together to take the spider out. And then I loved Rumple threatening Emma if she tried to harm his son. All of this felt in character. Rumple isn’t going to just let family die. But he will if it involves his own son or wife.
– I thought the scenes with Hook and Blackbeard, while not needed, were kinda hilarious and served as somewhat of a comic relief for the overall dark tone of the episode. “I’m not AS drunk as your other opponents.” lols.
– Henry’s author powers going bazurk! So when the story ends, does the author die? To me, that actually would make some sense. This at least shows they are planning to bring the author story back full circle and give it a proper ending. Loved seeing Isacc again…always liked that actor on Lost too.
– Hamilton tickets…hilarious.
– Black Fairy saying “dearie” and calling Gideon a “coward.”
– Black Fairy is in storybrooke. But what does she want? Didn’t she only want to kill Emma so that she could escape the dark realm? Well now she has so what does she want to do now? Hmm…Perhaps she brought all that dark dust with her and perhaps is threatening to create an even worse dark curse with her running the show. That would bring the show back full circle don’t you think? But this time, Regina is saving the town instead of creating it.
– Seeing Neverland again. Did I hear hear some Indians????
Mixed:
– So why can the Black Fairy only cross realms for a second to steal children? Who even gave her that power? Blue?
– So Black Fairy steals children to put them to work in the mines to collect dark dust which helped form the dark curse, so this time, she thinks it can help her escape the dark realm?
-So the sword channels The Savior’s power when they die and that power can open up a portal. I mean, that’s fine but like we never knew about this before and we never knew that Sword could do that before.
Disliked:
– Didn’t get to see Black Fairy take out Blue Fairy to steal Gideon. Perhaps they are saving that for Black Fairy’s centric. And unfortunately, this episode seems to have all but denied the Blue is Black theory. So Black Fairy through Gideon has managed to almost kill Emma, send Hook away to another realm, manipulate her son Rumple to take away Blue Fairy’s power…oh and she obtained access to storybrooke. She’s a smart cookie.
– Emma didn’t die so I’m annoyed that the portal even opened a little bit for the Black Fairy to come through. How convenient!
April 11, 2017 at 6:26 pm #335830PriceofMagicParticipantI think the reveal that Gideon is a victim of abuse from the Black Fairy and has been his entire life (She emotionally manipulates and controls him eg “You’ll never be a hero, you’re a coward” and “It’s you’re fault I turned your friend into a bug and squished him because you tried to betray me”) actually makes Emma look even worse than she has done previously. Emma is threatening to kill a victim of abuse just because they pissed her off by banishing her boyfriend.
