Emma is threatening to kill a victim of abuse just because they ****** her off by banishing her boyfriend.
I think Gideon’s murder plan had something to do with Emma’s attitude. It takes a special kind of savior to forgive that sort of thing; maybe we’ll see that in this weekend’s episode.

I agree it takes a special kind of Savior but I think what bothers me is the line Emma draws in the sand about how she gave Gideon two chances and she’s not giving him a third. How many times did Regina try to mess up Emma’s life in S1? Regina actually tried to poison Emma and ended up poisoning their son! And yet, when Emma came back from the Enchanted Forest she invited Regina to dinner with the whole family claiming that it was reward for Regina helping the gang get home. So, yes, Gideon hasn’t been helping the family but the idea that there are no more chances is disconcerting given everything his family has been through with Regina, Hook, Rumple, Cora, ect.
I also find it a little unbelievable that someone–anyone–wouldn’t look at Gideon and not realize 1) he’s clearly been seriously abused by the Black Fairy and 2) he’s missing his heart. It’s a good canon compliant answer to Gideon but the fact that neither Regina nor Emma nor Rumple can’t simply tell that he’s heartless is a little…odd. Heck, Rumple could tell it about Cora by being her presence.

Oh, that’s easy for the Black Fairy to disguise: keep Gideon’s heart, and give him someone else’s.

When she started giving Regina chances to redeem herself starting in season 2, I don’t really recall Regina tricking Emma much and going back on her word. In this case, she gave Gideon a second chance and he double crossed her and left her for dead. Again, I don’t think Regina ever really did that. And Regina did save them at the well in season 2 as well. That at least gave her some confidence to trust her. Plus Henry was practically begging her to give Regina a chance. I’m sorry but Rumple telling Emma to trust his son is very different than her own son telling her to trust his adoptive mother.
Plus, in this case, Gideon hasn’t done anything “good” to warrant her trust, and none of them are able to see that Black Fairy is manipulating him. So how is this an unfair reaction from Emma? This girl can’t do anything right with you guys now it seems. I think her actions are completely justified and I’m sure that if she had seen what we saw in the flashbacks, she would treat the situation a little bit differently. At the very least, lock Gideon up as opposed to trying to kill him or whatever. And sure, Rumple and Belle can sit there and say that Gideon grew up with the Black Fairy so he’s emotionally unstable, but they really don’t know the whole story of what it was like growing up under her wing. Rumple sure doesn’t know (other than the one story Gideon told him) bc she abandoned him as a child. So basically, they are all speculating. Sure, we know that she was awful and manipulated Gideon in horrific fashion, but Emma only knows what The Dark One is telling her, who would go to great lengths and perform dark magic to protect his son (anyone forget he took away Blue’s power), and she knows that Gideon has tried to kill her twice now and he tricked her. So someone please tell me how this is unfair behavior from Emma?

She doesn’t even need to do that. Graham had a heartbeat.

Because Emma is supposed to be a “hero” and rather than showing sympathy towards RumBelle and the situation with Gideon, Emma is marching into the shop and threatening to kill their son all because she’s mad that Gideon sent away Hook. Emma’s anger seems to focus on that rather than Gideon’s attempted murder of her.
The way Emma is behaving right now, Hook deserves better.

This! Emma is upset that Gideon is messing with her life, and the hypocrisy is almost unforgiving. She went in there and stated that Gideon is using Hook as a bargaining chip while she has done the exact same thing to Rumple. She went into his shop and blackmailed him to take them to the underworld by using Belle. And guess what you could blame Emma for the entire Gideon mess if you want to she was the first domino in all of this. You have this paired with the Charmings doing the exact same thing, Snow stating that she would love to help Emma because they need bonding time is horribly ridiculous. These are supposed to be our “heroes” and they are being self centered, hypocritical jerks
April 12, 2017 at 12:52 pm #335853Bar FarerParticipantI feel like they wanted to do it because Emma would be “bad ***”, maybe because of the popularity of the line “maybe I just need to punch you in the face”, not realizing the different context or that context even matter.

I have to say that the idea of a hero having to be perfect in every way, is a little old-fashioned. Emma has always been a flawed, impulsive character and if she (and others) always made the right/noble choice it would make for pretty uninteresting viewing. She is responding emotionally to a situation that she has encountered several times before – first with Neal being taken away from her, and then with Hook ending up in the Underworld. I can totally understand that she wants to cut to the chase and do what needs to be done. She is fed up of having everything that she loves taken away from her.
At the end of the day, yes she is a hero, but first and foremost she is a human being. We make mistakes, we act emotionally, we don’t always do the right thing.

But they don’t treat it as a flaw or a mistake that she has to learn from. I’m all for flawd characters, but the whole point is for them to understand it, learn from it and grow as a person.
It was played as “bas ***” Emma, no one called her out and it will never be mentioned again.
